  1. Hello again After my anger[:@] I have decided to call prodrive to see what the score is with this ECU, I gave them the numbers from it SP and A18-000DIX and 1001056110/9525 and they confirmed that this is in fact an ECU from a 1999 uk Impreza Prodrive Performance Pack and not for an STi, very nice bloke I spoke to told me that back in 1999-00 they used STi ECU's for their performance pack cars althought they have been altered for a non STi car they still bear the STi sticker, he told me this was completely fine to fit on my car without problem but recommended that i maybe should change the airflow sensor. thats it! So it seems that the chap I bought this from advertised it all wrong, so panic over I'm happy now[] Thanks for all your help everyone, and if you come across an STi ECU with the part numbers 1001056110 these are all PPP part numbers from UK cars and ignore the STi sticker Take care
  2. Your absolutely right mate you should be proud! why would anyone want to drive around in a car that costs half the price of a 2 bedroom house....... more money than sense[8-)]
  3. Yeah I see what you mean! F*ck it I'm gonna sell it, plug and play were the mans words, to think I bought this off of a Subaru specialist that builds rally cars.............I knew it was all to good to be true[:@]
  4. This is what I thought but I'm a bit simple when it comes to this sort of thing, someone else I spoke to said the self learning chip is great, disconnect the battery-change the ECU re connect the battery and drive the car flat out for 5 minutes and the chip will learn the way you drive the car and adjust everything to suit! or change the ECU and let my Mrs drive it for 5 minutes and I'll probably lose power. Aparently it changes the mapping to the way the car is driven, I agree this all sounds far to clever and complicated! [*-)]

  6. Thanks, its not a prodrive ECU its just the self learning chip fitted to a 1999 uk STi, maybe I can look into removing the chip and get it fitted to my standard ECU I'm just not sure what to do []
  7. Help! come on guys someone must know something regarding my previous post. Cheers[:#]
  8. Hi, I'm new here and looking for a bit of help! I have a 1999 uk Impreza turbo and I just cant stop spending money on it [] I saw an STi ECU advertised by a Subaru specialist, it's from a 1999 uk car and it has a Prodrive self learning chip fitted (a what?) I thought well cut a long stort I was told this would plug straight in and run the car fine and the chip will adjust the mapping to how I drive the car and pick up all the other mods etc (sounds very clever?) so anyway I bought it and I wil have it in my posession tomorrow! so my questions are will this STi ecu work with my car? will it make any difference to the cars running? will it over bost the turbo and say goodnight to the pistons/heads first time it hits 7000 rpm? any advice would be much appreciated from some one who knows what they are talking about, I 'm not saying that the specialist I bought it from does not know what they are talking about as they build rally cars, just want a bit of piece of mind or a second opinion! I'm sure if its as great as they said it is maybe they would have kept it for 1 of their own cars. Thanks in advance Martin
