About shanusascarabus

  1. The car is not at a dealers mate..... its a trade seller who works from home
  2. The car has 4 brand new tyres on it and its from a trade seller on autotrader...... nice guy but he obviously doesnt know the previous owner.. As for checking the oil and taking it for a drive... well the car is nearly 200 miles away from me so its not quite so simple.... After further discussion he has no history for the past 3 years apart from a invoice for the brake discs/pads
  3. Ok so heres my dilema, bearing in mind im after a classic that is now 10 years old or just over.... totally standard.... fsh.... no more than 3 owners in silver or mica blue. Think i may have found one but there was a sting in the tail and i want to know your opinions... here is the cars advert in short 2000 ( W ) reg UK turbo in silver FSH standard apart from a dumpvalve cam belt done at 64000 mile tracker fitted 89000 miles £3500 After closer inspection i found out that the car has a HKS dumpvalve and HKS induction kit ( green mushroom shape ) but this is all... even has its own exhaust The main dilema if you like is the service history... Its all good apart from a spell between 2003-2004 where it went 18 months ( 13156 ) with no stamp, now it could have been on a forecourt... could have had a indie look at it... i really dont know, however it continues dealer history fom 2004 up to august 2007 all on time ect however from 2007 till now.... exactly 3 years and 14000 miles theres nothing Im just after some advice really.... should i walk away or not worry too much about it.... 3 years is a long time and bearing in mind these HKS parts are quite new its making me think that the last owner of 3 years ( ish ) has not had the services done and put performance parts on so in short not looked after it....... Heeeeeelp !!!!
  4. Might buy it.... oh hang on, missed a zero off
  5. Hi everyone, Still looking hard to find my untouched classic without success so far... however looking into other cost I called my local dealer for Servicing costs ect and heres what i was told after giving him example of a car i had seen. Car is a 2000 UK turbo...... 89k fsh Major service ( 90k or 9 years ) = £600 Intrim service ( every 7500 miles ) = £175 Now i know these babies are more to service than a standard car but do these figures sound about right..... also does anyone know of a good reputable Independant Subaru garage in the Leeds/Yorkshire area. Thanks in advance for your replies Shane
  6. Well i thought £2300 was too good to be true..... i didnt know a car could have so many scratches and tiny dents... what a shed lol :-(
  7. Thanks.... great information, this is exactly why i joined this forum :-) On the downside ill have to be careful when looking at classics now :-/ Oh and im only looking at 99-2000 models now :-)
  8. Now I didnt know this, so when did the last of the classics come out..... And what exactly are the " little extras".... cant say iv noticed apart from maybe the wheels :-/
  9. GWR thats exactly me too lol..... but just to narrow things down a little its got to be silver..... maybe mica blue at a stretch. A few popping up but the prices vary on the 99-00 from £3k-£4.5k........ all at very similar spec
  10. Actually while im here i may as well ask for your opinions of the "classic" compared to the later model that replaced it.... I prefer the classic ( obviously ) but is there any advantages to owning the next shape other than body shape ??
  11. What about milage on these cars...... Are you guys running smooth at 100k plus ???
  12. Read the guide but this is for the STI version, does it pretty much apply to the standard UK Turbo too..... im guessing the oil changes ect on the STI's are more frequent than standard. Also while we are on the subject of STI's is there a common average percentage that insurers charge more than standard UK spec cars ? Thanks again
  13. Thanks.... good to be here..... Im guessing that im chasing the impossible dream here lol.... i even took rash choice to phone the local Subaru Dealer and he pretty much laughed too lol Although he did offer me a 2005 STI for 12 grand
