ian_finlayson Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 Just had a wee peek at "where are you"and this crossed my mind. None of us are and rich so it must be interesting to compare companies, jobs and rates. So here goes. Used to have a 1999 RB5 (group 17) with decat and tinted windows and paid £850 a year. Now own a standard 2001 BMW M3 with 19 inch wheels (group 20) and pay just £720. 28 years old, park on the street in glasgow city centre (ish) with 6 years ncb with no claims or points. Work at sea, have 49 year old Mum on policy and do 9,000 miles a year social only. Whats going on, that seems cheap to me! Interested to know what others pay?????????????????????????
jimmyGforce Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 25 years old. Standard P1 (group 20) parked off road, quiet wee town, 4 years no claims with no accidents or convictions,10k a year social, work as maintainance engineer £1200 per year. Paid a lot more for cars in my life! [:@] Had a friend 20 or 21years old trying to insure a P1- £2500 but insured BMW M3 instead for £1200. Previouse shape M3 though but still big difference .

Got renewal and will hopefully be down to near £400. Thats with 7yrs ncb. Either you live about 500 miles from civilisation or work for Admiral Car insurance! That is amazing. Then again I have not got a quote for my Mums house in Lewis. At 25 I was paying just £400 for a V6 Golf whilst living [] there. Before I moved to Glasgow (on paper anyway)
Edinburgh-Chris Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 I also have the girlfriend as the policy holder, she is 23, i am 24 and neither of us have any points, claims or accidents on our history. Elephant requoted us for our 4th year of insurance for an import STi-2 with all modifications noted.......£714 as of the 18th May. We thought that was cheap but the award must be for my new toy....Aprilia Habana 125 scooter. Quote for the both of us fully comprehensive, some were coming in at £950!!!! WTF, we own a fairly modded group20 STi with no problem but the scooter seems to create crazy insurance money. Can't explain insurance, they have their own theories! Chris
