NO Optimax at Dreghorn on the Edinburgh Bypass, A7 at Gorebridge and at the back end of Easthouses!

A bit of a bugger for me being at the south of Edinburgh, crappy 97ron Super unleaded at the moment.

Chris

Chris, have you tried the Shell on Comiston Road, they may have it if your desperate.

Cheers

Kenny

PS. What MY and colour is your scooby, I'll keep an eye out for you - i live in Swanston and drive a uk MY99 blue with gold wheels.

Plenty up here in Inverness, got a very strange look when i asked about a shortage, & they almost laughed when i said i saw it on the internet.

shell garages here reckon that the fuel shortage is due to only one refinary being in operation at the moment and hence......no motion lotion for scoobs.

even less cos of all the people that dont actually need it but like to fill their volvos and bmw's with it cos it smells nice.

Dunno what the carry on is. But the refinary that i work with as in bp in grangemouth that churns out all the petrol basically for scotland. Including shells optimax mix. I sin full operation. So a dunno whats happening but the refinary is going.

I am off work this week, and there is none around Falkirk area.

Decided to take a run to Perth as it was a nice day and I still have 3/4 of a tank.  Stopped at the shell on the way in and they had optimax, but at 104.9p a litre!!  Feck sake!!

Drove straight out....luckily I have a uk spec, so I can use normal unleaded if it comes to the worst!

Looks like its going to get worse as well!

Happy days!

Had a stroke of luck at Shell in ???????????? today, Orange light on, pumps closed off.

Was so desperate I walked in and was very very nicely asked the woman behind

the counter what was wrong as there was no optimax. Problems at the refinery she said.

Is there any chance of me getting some. She said they could only go down to 800l but

after calling over her workmate and telling her to shut her puss if the manager ever asked

why petrol had been sold when it was so low and a few taps in her machine she said come

with me and Ill take off the lock and you can fill up. Couldnt believe it, went out, filled up

and she locked it up again.

Suppose if you dont ask you dont get.

Dear Mr. xxxx,

Thank you for your E mail regarding your recent difficulties in obtaining Shell Optimax in your local area.

I was very sorry to hear that there was no Optimax available at the time of your visits.  I fully appreciate that this situation is unacceptable and I  would like to offer my apologies on behalf of Shell UK for the unnecessary inconvenience that has been caused to you.

Shell delivers fuel twenty fours hours a day, seven days a week throughout the UK and every effort is made to ensure that out of stock situations are   kept to an absolute minimum.

On this occasion the lack of Optimax in the region was die to unforeseen operational difficulties, which have now been resolved. Deliveries of Optimax  should be back to normal very soon.

I apologise for the dissatisfaction you have been caused and any inconvenience you have been subjected to.  I do hope that this unfortunate incident will not deter you from visiting Shell branded service stations in the future.

  Yours sincerely,

  Richard Priestley

I find the above statment from shell abit of a smooth over, If there was operational difficulties im sure all there filling stations, owned or franchised would have been informed about any problems, But this situation has had the cloak and dagger approach.
