About iain_spink

  1. Aye, it wis me. I meant to mention to you all that I was going to be on. They only filmed it that same afternoon. Feeling almost famous just now! Many newspapers carried the story about my awards this week and when I was driving home on Thursday heard myself on the radio(scotland) then later on I was on the telly. Think that this is me having my 15 minutes of fame that we're all supposed to get! Sorry, I also forgot to remind yous that the food heroes final was on at 8pm tonight but it will be repeated later (I missed it too as I do not have sky yet)
  2. My present one is my first Scoob which, when I bought it, was the only one I had ever been in. I totally love the car and fully intend to keep it for a while, especially now that its got a few more horses. Can think of hardly any other car I would rather own (other than daft things like Zondas etc) Must take some more pics, I always post up this same one every time. I'm about as much use with a camera as I am with a computer.
  3. As a huge fan of MK1 and 2 RS escorts (having owned several of them) it is always great to see one, lets see some more pics please.
  4. Peter, it's still only a 2.2, aye we could go for a wee hurl, when r u coming through? Lol at the pic Cal! Dying to get out in it tonight but roads are already pretty slippy around here so it'll be staying in its box. Wont get near it tomorrow either as I'll be at the Lanark Xmas Fair all day. Roll on Sunday.
  5. What is it running now then - 2.2 with the 20g? Hi stephen. According to Dave O'Brien at API (who built the engine) it should be well over the 400bhp mark, as the same set up on a 2.0 would typically give around 380bhp.
  6. After what seems like years, I've finally got my car properly run-in. Took it down to AWD today where they fitted the new 550 injectors and an Apexi (to go with the already fitted 20g turbo etc), before being mapped by Andy F. Holy $hit! I the difference in the cars performance is staggering, and I thought it was fairly quick before!, can't get the smile off my face (well I can when I think what it's cost!) Can't wait for a decent day to get out for a proper play. Think I'll maybe have to look at seriously uprating the brakes a bit!
  7. Hopefully I'll also have around that (400bhp) next week as well. The new engine is now run-in (at last). On Thursday the big injectors are fitted to go along with the 20g turbo,Apexi, etc and then mapping by Andy F. Can't wait.
  8. This never seems to work for me but here goes! Just sold the TVR last week after 10 years of ownership, missing the V8 roar already.
  9. Thought I'd get in a few more of these running- in miles on the car today so I rumbled through to Ingliston and enjoyed an afternoon spectating. Was good to meet some of the names I see on here each night (Gus and Stephen)and watch some scoobs in action. Some of those Evos were very very quick (sound crap though!) The yellow one parked behind the times tent was particularly stunning. I'm quite sure this type of event would be very popular if the SIDC were to organise one of our own. Cheap to enter, easy to run, nothing to hit, not too hard on the car, and as competitive as you want to make it. I'm sure we could to manage to borrow or hire some timing gear somewhere and get this organised for next year?
  10. 1) The looks. Having owned lots of Mk1 and 2 RS escorts, 2 Lotus Sunbeams and a TVR I never really had much of a thing for Jap cars - until the 22B came out, then my attitude changed! Bought mine in December (my first Scoob) and I absolutely love it. Its the car I've always wanted. 2) Its more practical than a TVR Re the noise, sure it sounds ok but IMO it doesn't come near the sound of my previous motor, a 4litre, V8 TVR 400se with a full wedge automotive sports exhaust. A truly awesome noise, I'll miss it. (sold on sunday)
  11. Come to think of it, I don't think I saw any Jap cars there at all. Being a classic show they probably have to be over a certain age before they can be shown I don't know? Quite sure there will be Scoobs there in future years. Maybe the club should enquire about future participation at this event.
  12. Nae problem. See you next year maybe!
  13. Aye. How'd you not come over for a natter? I've hardly met anyone on this forum.
  14. It was me that posted it up originally. I was there (working) but didn't see any Scoobs there. Did you go ?
