  1. Aye, it wis me. I meant to mention to you all that I was going to be on. They only filmed it that same afternoon. Feeling almost famous just now! Many newspapers carried the story about my awards this week and when I was driving home on Thursday heard myself on the radio(scotland) then later on I was on the telly. Think that this is me having my 15 minutes of fame that we're all supposed to get! Sorry, I also forgot to remind yous that the food heroes final was on at 8pm tonight but it will be repeated later (I missed it too as I do not have sky yet)
  2. My present one is my first Scoob which, when I bought it, was the only one I had ever been in. I totally love the car and fully intend to keep it for a while, especially now that its got a few more horses. Can think of hardly any other car I would rather own (other than daft things like Zondas etc) Must take some more pics, I always post up this same one every time. I'm about as much use with a camera as I am with a computer.
  3. As a huge fan of MK1 and 2 RS escorts (having owned several of them) it is always great to see one, lets see some more pics please.
  4. Peter, it's still only a 2.2, aye we could go for a wee hurl, when r u coming through? Lol at the pic Cal! Dying to get out in it tonight but roads are already pretty slippy around here so it'll be staying in its box. Wont get near it tomorrow either as I'll be at the Lanark Xmas Fair all day. Roll on Sunday.
  5. What is it running now then - 2.2 with the 20g? Hi stephen. According to Dave O'Brien at API (who built the engine) it should be well over the 400bhp mark, as the same set up on a 2.0 would typically give around 380bhp.
  6. After what seems like years, I've finally got my car properly run-in. Took it down to AWD today where they fitted the new 550 injectors and an Apexi (to go with the already fitted 20g turbo etc), before being mapped by Andy F. Holy $hit! I the difference in the cars performance is staggering, and I thought it was fairly quick before!, can't get the smile off my face (well I can when I think what it's cost!) Can't wait for a decent day to get out for a proper play. Think I'll maybe have to look at seriously uprating the brakes a bit!
  7. Hopefully I'll also have around that (400bhp) next week as well. The new engine is now run-in (at last). On Thursday the big injectors are fitted to go along with the 20g turbo,Apexi, etc and then mapping by Andy F. Can't wait.
  8. This never seems to work for me but here goes! Just sold the TVR last week after 10 years of ownership, missing the V8 roar already.
  9. Thought I'd get in a few more of these running- in miles on the car today so I rumbled through to Ingliston and enjoyed an afternoon spectating. Was good to meet some of the names I see on here each night (Gus and Stephen)and watch some scoobs in action. Some of those Evos were very very quick (sound crap though!) The yellow one parked behind the times tent was particularly stunning. I'm quite sure this type of event would be very popular if the SIDC were to organise one of our own. Cheap to enter, easy to run, nothing to hit, not too hard on the car, and as competitive as you want to make it. I'm sure we could to manage to borrow or hire some timing gear somewhere and get this organised for next year?
  10. 1) The looks. Having owned lots of Mk1 and 2 RS escorts, 2 Lotus Sunbeams and a TVR I never really had much of a thing for Jap cars - until the 22B came out, then my attitude changed! Bought mine in December (my first Scoob) and I absolutely love it. Its the car I've always wanted. 2) Its more practical than a TVR Re the noise, sure it sounds ok but IMO it doesn't come near the sound of my previous motor, a 4litre, V8 TVR 400se with a full wedge automotive sports exhaust. A truly awesome noise, I'll miss it. (sold on sunday)
  11. Come to think of it, I don't think I saw any Jap cars there at all. Being a classic show they probably have to be over a certain age before they can be shown I don't know? Quite sure there will be Scoobs there in future years. Maybe the club should enquire about future participation at this event.
  12. Nae problem. See you next year maybe!
  13. Aye. How'd you not come over for a natter? I've hardly met anyone on this forum.
  14. It was me that posted it up originally. I was there (working) but didn't see any Scoobs there. Did you go ?
  15. Last thing I bought was a new 22B engine! Briefly, this included: Total rebuild inc. full skirt alloy pistons and steel rods, new liners,STI 9 nitrided crank and comp bearings, uprated oil pump, new cylinder head and valves, lightened and balanced flywheel, ported headers, new helix comp clutch cover and plate, denso iridium plugs, magnecor leads, adjustable fuel regulator, uprated fuel pump, Bosch lamda probe, Subaru air intake pipe, full set Samco hoses,Td 05 20G turbo, 550cc injectors, and lots more bits and bobs. Apparently the engine internals can handle 500bhp should I want to go there! Next thing to buy will be an Apexi and an Andy F session once its run in. Think that's enough for now. Don't ask how much.
  16. 2 weeks gone now and I'm up to 100 miles. Looks like this 1000 miles may take some time! Just done 1200 miles in the Passat the last 2 days. Pity I couldn't have fitted all my smokie making stuff into the Scoob, wouldve been run-in by now.
  17. Is anyone going down to this event? I will be there making and selling Smokies but I will not, sadly, have my car there. I attended last year and there was a fair mix of cars present including loads of modern 'classics' such as Integrales, RS's, TVR, etc. Don't know what the criteria are for entry (or if we are too late) but I think that the SIDC would be welcome addition to the show (around 1700 cars) I've got contact details if anyone is interested in organising a group outing.
  18. Cheers for the comments. I'll take some new pics tomorrow if it's a nice day and post them up.
  19. Re the running in, thanks for the offers guys, might have to take someone up on that. I've had it back almost a week now and only done 35miles! Seems odd now to try to put miles on the car after the previous months of trying to keep the mileage down! Any hints on what the mods are? Amongst many other little things is a set of 550cc injectors and a 20g turbo. I'll put up a more detailed list later.
  20. Got the car back on Thursday at long last. Engine was built by API in Warwickshire with the removal and refitting and ancilliary work being done at AWD in Perth. The engine has been re-built to a much higher spec and is guaranteed to cope with up to 500bhp should I want to go there! As virtually everything was replaced the cost was pretty sickening so I hope its worth it. I did add on a few goodies to up the power a wee bit which obviously bumped the cost up even more. The car was bought originally with the intention of probably keeping it for a long time but now that I have spent that ammount of money on it that will definately be the case! As the car has a full history and is in superb condition throughout, I see the money spent as future investment (although nothing near what what I've actually spent) and as such, enhances the overall desirability of the car. Now comes the hard bit, running in at 3000rpm max for the next 1000miles which equates to about 58mph in top gear. I'm still extremely busy with all the summer shows and food fairs etc so the 1000miles may take some time to clock up. Next its down to Andy Forrest for the Apexi and remapping (and more money) Can't wait!
  21. Not yet. I've been too busy to chase it up. It was booked in for the engine refitting on Wed at Awd so I would expect it very soon.

  23. Absolutely was probably the funniest Scottish comedy sketch show ever. One of my favourite skits saw Mc Glashan as a reporter for a new Scottish newspaper which always found humorous reasons to slag off our English pals. Pure quality. I've got a heap of them on good old video somewhere but no "vid-ay-o" (Stoneybridge pronounciation!)to play them on. Stephen, could you sort me out with a copy of your DVD or can it be bought somewhere?
  24. Big davie, had a really good day so will be definately be back next year. If you can't wait that long I'll be at the Royal Highland Show this weekend (Countryside area next to the west gate )
