Still no cars to play with. Smoking fish at Paisley abbey on Saturday (15hr day) and smoked fish at Blair Castle food fair on Sunday (13hr day). Not much time or energy left for anything else!

Thanks for your commiserations and comments folks. Unfortunately not worth pursuing the little maggot through the courts as it will likely cost me far more in solicitor fees etc than I would get from him. It's hard to bear but there's not a lot I can do really. My insurance company will obviously be pursuing him through the courts though to try to recoup some of their money. Perhaps I should "send the boys round" to see him one night! Its a good job I've got an understanding girlfriend who likes cars too, as all this hassle/expense means that hols are unlikely again this year.

Might come down if I've not broken another car by then! Iain

LOL Far too much cash!I've still got my student loan to pay off!

Suppose my favourite toys are my bikes, Trek OCLV 5500 Carbon racing bike and Trek OCLV Fuel 100 MTB. Used to be a keen racer a few years ago.

First, some pr1ck crashes his car at about70mph into my house in Arbroath (don't live there anymore but let it out) and causes £11000 worth of damage. Yes, you guessed it, he wasn't insured (I am though thankfully). 4rsehole knocked down the entire bay window section of the house which is an old red sandstone lodge. Impossible to get an exact match on the stone so the house will never be the same again. Other damage includes windows, old ornate plaster cornices, original woodwork, carpets, leather suite, computer stuff, electrics etc. A monumental ammount of hassle for me and for the tennants who are living there. Have to say that so far the insurance people have been great though. The little helmet gets away with a few points and a paltry fine and I get left with a damaged, repaired house and out of pocket through excesses on my insurance. Second, After running like a swiss watch since I got it, my 22B's big ends very suddenly decided to make their presence noticed and started rattling rather loudly. Pretty p'd off about it as the engine had been rebuilt around 15000 miles ago so thought I had peace of mind in that area at least, not so it seems! Oh well lets think positively, its a good excuse to beef up the engine internals in order to add some goodies to up the power a bit. AWD are doing most of the work, the engine's going down to API engineering in Warwickshire and the finishing touch will be a visit to Andy F for mapping. Could have done without that just now as I still havent sold my TVR (haven't tried yet). Third, Just to add to my luck, the aforementioned TVR was down at Dreadnought TVR in Callender for a routine service and a new clutch, and on the way home up the A9 last night the gearbox decided to disintegrate! The car is now back down there and will be there for at least 4 weeks as thet are up to their eyeballs in work. Despite TVR's dodgy reputation for reliability it has been a fantastically reliable car to me, never once having let me down in 9years of ownership so the timing is not great to put it mildly! To say I am utterly hacked off with cars at the moment would be an understatement. At least I'll have a 400+BHP 22B to look forward to I suppose! Iain

Hi Boxerboy, here's mine.

Sorry to hear of your loss Gus. Iain

Cheers Dougster, I'll be be easy to find, just look for the smoke signals! Iain
-
Fast Scooby. Aye, thats the one. You're right, it wasn't me that served the smokie , I was doing the smoking. Paid for it! No way. You couldn't pay a top chef like him to say stuff like that about your product. Best value £2 I ever spent!

"just had a preliminary interview for another TV series on specialist foods so quite hopeful for that to progress further. I'll keep you all updated." Just had word back yesterday, passed the 'interview' and now move on to the next stage, filming. This will be taking place next week at the Drymen Show near Loch Lomond where I will be making and selling Smokies. I was also on TV today at 1100 on BBC1 as part of another food programme called "This Little Farmer Went To Market". Didn't post it up as I wasn't sure if I'd be on, as the programme was about another trader. Was a really good plug for me though! Hope someone saw it.

"the toly poking muslim is a complete belter" FPMSL! I couldn't have put it better myself! Quite why anyone would actually sit down and watch that keegh as entertainment is beyond me.

Thanks Dougster. I got a letter on Saturday saying basically that they(optimum television) will not be showing the Arbroath Smokie stuff this time mainly due to "pressures of time". Wee bit dissapointed about that because we went to quite a lot of bother to accomodate them with all the various requests etc they had for filming. However, just had a preliminary interview for another TV series on specialist foods so quite hopeful for that to progress further. I'll keep you all updated. (If anybodys interested!) Iain

Hope all goes well on your big day JC. How can I match Peters very generous offer? Free Arbroath Smokies for you both next time I see you! All the best, Iain
-
Might pop along if its a nice night weather wise, ie not pishing rain. Anybody else from the Angus/Dundee end going down?
-
Cheers JC. It was good to meet you and Mrs JC and put faces to the names. Iain

Fantastic day here too. I'm doing some odd jobs around the garden, shorts on, shirt off, enjoying the rays. Lunch just now, then out on my bike for 2hrs or so of cycling (road not MTB). Might take the car out for a wee hurl if I've got time. Good luck at the dentist Peter, I sympathise wth you, I always dread going there.

Cheers Frank. I stilll miss the old RS escorts too. Had several myself, but sadly, not an RS1800, although I came very close to buying one years ago. (£3500!) There was a MK1 RS 2000 for sale in the P&J last week £12000! Sorry I missed you at Ingliston, it was great to watch all the MK2's rallying and hear the awesome 6R4 in action. Iain
-
Frank, is that an RS1800 in your avatar or is it a car you own?
-
Cheers for the interest. If I hear when it's going to be shown I'll post it up. Iain
-
Aye. I'll probably be on again soon as part of the BBC2 series 'The Great British Menu' where top chefs are competing to cook a dish for the queen. It might be on next week but I haven't heard yet. They are going to phone and tell me. Did the filming back in February at the Kirkcaldy Farmers Market. Pity I don't get paid for all these TV appearances! Iain.

Well spotted. Aye, that was me! Fame at last.
