Cheers for the replys guys. Was also wondering if there were any downsides to it, eg yellowing with age, peeling off, delaminating, removal problems etc. There sems to be a few different kinds on the market at varying prices (and qualities I'd imagine).Noticed that the wing mirrors on my Passat have a film covering which looks as good as new at 2yrs old. Any comments would be welcome.

Noticed a few wee chips appearing on the car at the front of the rear arches where the arch begins to flare out. Not really sure if I want mudflaps as I like the way the car looks as it is. However I was at Doune at the weekend and there was a gorgeous Porsche Turbo there (with even bigger flared arches than the 22B) which had a very subtle layer or transparent film fitted in the aforementioned place. There were absolutely no stone-chips on the Porsche arches and it certainly didn't spoil the look of the car in nay way. Think I'd prefer that to the flaps option. Does anyone know anything about this type of film protection, have any experience of it, or know where to source it? Cheers, Iain

John, I was standing about 80m before garden gate corner, you seemed to be trying very hard! How did you finish up in your class? Karps, aye I remember, I was going to come over for a crack after my lunch but you left a bit early. Iain.
-
Cheers for that Craig, yes it was mine.

Really enjoyed my day at Doune on Sunday. Good mix of cars competing with some very skilled and sometimes entertaining driving (red scoob, last timed run). The speed of the some of the Caterhams and one particular single seater was awesome, not much room for error on that narrow twisty, armco lined track. Surprised there wasn't more of you's along there as, IMHO, its a far more exciting day than the dragstrip. Make sure to get along to the next one in June as I think its a national day so there should be a few of the 'big boys' there. Highly recommended.

After 3 months of filing up in Dundee i've just discovered tonight that one of the Shell garages in Arbroath sells Optimax..............and its only 93.9p! Yes 93.9.
-
Aye, I'm intending to be there, haven't been to the Doune hillclimb for years.
-
What time does it kick off and how long does it last for? I may be able to manage along to help if the times are suitable.

Scottish Scoobies or west region scoobies?
iain_spink replied to scott_coull's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Don't really see an east/west divide either, I think that there simply happens to be more members in that area who regularly post. I can sorta see where you're coming from but don't wholly agree with the way you've put some things. I think it was unfair to single out the individuals that you did as there are several more out there regularly posting similar stuff (pish or otherwise). Sure there are lots of 'in' jokes going on between certain members but so what? I actually find most of it quite amusing and would like it to continue. I would think differently if every new thread started was being 'hijacked' and turned into goat derived crap or whatever. I'm on pretty much every day, look at every thread and comment if I'm interested enough. As a complete newbie to Scoobie ownership (just bought my first one 3 months ago) I know very little or nothing about them, however I do find a lot of very useful and interesting stuff on the forums from time to time. Myself (and others?)obviously must like the mix of factual stuff, advice and general pish that is on the forums or we wouldn't be on here every night would we? It really depends on what you personally want from the club and how much you are willing to put into it. Finally, on the east/west thing again, I've been asking for a proper Tayside?Angus meet since I joined in December, but due to several reasons this has never happened and looks unlikely to do so. OK, fine I'll try the Fifers, I replied to the Fife Events thread and suggested that as they seemed to be struggling for numbers also, that they move their venue for meets (currently Dunfermline I think) to a location nearer Dundee/Angus with the intention being to boost numbers. Result? I didn't even get a reply or a comment! -
me too!

I'll second the doormans suggestion, the Don is quality. Alternatively have a look here: www.fishscotland.co.uk

Well they must have done some work on it since I looked at it (late November). Did you drive it Gumball? -

doorman wrote: Then again, could someone tell me wat would loss more money 05 STI or 99 (T) 22B over the years?????? Yeah, that was another factor I forgot to mention earlier when making my choice of car. I think the slower depreciation should help to compensate for the possibly higher running costs? -

I also looked at that car before buying my 22B. This car is not mint, in fact it's far from it. Paintwork was very poor and had lots of scratches and scuff marks. It drove like a complete pig as well. I totally agree with every word Des said: salesman knew very little about 22B's (which he admitted to be fair),the service history was 'unavailable' , and the 3.5k stereo seemed a somewhat optimistic valuation. In short, I didn't like anything about it at all and was not the type of 22B I was looking for. Regarding the comments on the huge purchase price of 22B's, I too had the dilemma of whether to spend well over 20k on a 6yr old car with no warranty etc, etc, or whether to be 'sensible' and buy a brand new STI with full warranty that no one has ever thrashed around.(could've got one for £18750). In the end ,for me, it was no contest, as I have always lusted after the 22B's stunning looks and enjoy the individuality that comes with owning a fantastic piece of motoring history. -
Looks like I'm another one of the Corvette group.

Fantastic! Think I'd rather hear the glorious engine noise than the accompanying music though.

I saw it on Wednesday, came off the roundabout on the Perth bypass and accelerated past me heading for Edinburgh. What a cracking looking and sounding motor, I want one!

This really has to be one of the best customer complaints ever written! 57 xxxx Street xxxxxx xxxxxxxx xxxx xxx 27-09-01 Dear Cretins, I have been an NTL customer since 9th July 2001, when I signed up for your 3-in-one deal for cable TV, cable modem, and telephone. During this three-month period I have encountered inadequacy of service which I had not previously considered possible, as well as ignorance and stupidity of monolithic proportions. Please allow me to provide specific details, so that you can either pursue your professional prerogative, and seek to rectify these difficulties - or more likely (I suspect) so that you can have some entertaining reading material as you while away the working day smoking B&H and drinking vendor-coffee on the bog in your office. My initial installation was cancelled without warning or notice, resulting in my spending an entire Saturday sitting on my fat ar5e waiting for your technician to arrive. When he did not arrive at all, I spent a further 57 minutes listening to your infuriating hold music, and the even more annoying Scottish robot woman telling me to look at your helpful website…. how? I alleviated the boredom to some small degree by playing with my testicles for a few minutes - an activity at which you are no-doubt both familiar and highly adept. The rescheduled installation then took place some two weeks later, although the technician did forget to bring a number of vital tools - such as a drill-bit, and his cerebrum. Two weeks later, my cable modem had still not arrived. After several further telephone calls (actually 15 telephone calls over 4 weeks) my modem arrived … a total of six weeks after I had requested it, and begun to pay for it. I estimate that the downtime of your internet servers is roughly 35%… these are usually the hours between about 6pm and midnight, Monday to Friday, and most of the useful periods over the weekend. I am still waiting for my telephone connection. I have made 9 telephone calls on my mobile to your no-help line this week, and have been unhelpfully transferred to a variety of disinterested individuals, who are it seems also highly skilled bollock jugglers. I have been informed that a telephone line is available (and someone will call me back), that no telephone line is available (and someone will call me back), that I will be transferred to someone who knows whether or not a telephone line is available (and then been cut off), that I will be transferred to someone who knows whether or not a telephone line is available (and then been redirected to an answer machine informing me that your office is closed), that I will be transferred to someone who knows whether or not a telephone line is available (and then been redirected to the irritating Scottish robot woman…. and several other variations on this theme. Doubtless you are no-longer reading this letter, as you have at least a thousand other dissatisfied customers to ignore, and also another one of those crucially important testicle-moments to attend to. Frankly I don’t care, it’s far more satisfying as a customer to voice my frustrations in print than to shout them at your unending hold music. Forgive me, therefore, if I continue. I thought BT were 5hit, that they had attained the holy pi55-pot of god-awful customer relations, that no-one, anywhere, ever, could be more disinterested, less helpful or more obstructive to delivering service to their customers. That’s why I chose NTL, and because, well, there isn’t anyone else is there? How surprised I therefore was, when I discovered to my considerable dissatisfaction and disappointment what a useless shower of ba5tards you truly are. You are sputum-filled pieces of distended rectum - incompetents of the highest order. British Telecom - w 4 n k e r s though they are - shine like brilliant beacons of success, in the filthy puss-filled mire of your seemingly limitless inadequacy. Suffice to say that I have now given up on my futile and foolhardy quest to receive any kind of service from you. I suggest that you do likewise, and cease any potential future attempts to extort payment from me for the services which you have so pointedly and catastrophically failed to deliver – any such activity will be greeted initially with hilarity and disbelief – although these feelings will quickly be replaced by derision, and even perhaps a small measure of bemused rage. I enclose two small deposits, selected with great care from my cats litter tray, as an expression of my utter and complete contempt for both you, and your pointless company. I sincerely hope that they have not become desiccated during transit - they were satisfyingly moist at the time of posting, and I would feel considerable disappointment if you did not experience both their rich aroma and delicate texture. Consider them the very embodiment of my feelings towards NTL, and it’s worthless employees. Have a nice day - may it be the last in you miserable short life, you irritatingly incompetent and infuriatingly unhelpful bunch of t w 4 t s, Yours psychotically, Xxxx Xxxxxxx

Sorry JC, never meant for you to think I was insinuating you were a bent-shot! I'm fairly sure you're not. Can't be ar$ed trawling through old threads looking for the gay stuff, I'll take your word for it. LoL at the Arbroath pic. Can't let you off with that so I did a wee google search and found a photo from the Wellbank Village Hall taken recently. Might bring back some memories!

Definite pair of jobbie jabbers these two. Slightly 'amused/concerned' about JC Scoob's comment "they should get themselves over here". This follows my original suspicions after the recent (quality!) thread: 'And we thought our forum was gay' Am I missing something here, is there a secret section within the club for bum boys? Perhaps SIDC is an acronym for something more sinister..........

Hi twentytwobee. Car looks good. Sorry, I meant to send you pictures of my car once I got it but completely forgot. They're on this site somewhere.(Thread : pics of your car) Looks like we share similar taste in classic cars as I too am a huge fan of Mk1 and MK2 RS Ford escorts having owned 2 mk2 Rs2000's, a MK2 mexico, 1300 sport,1600 sport, and a cracking MK1 Mexico factory built steel big wing. Incidentally, I know of a one owner (extremely rare) Mk1 escort twin-cam which was lying in a private garage not far from me which is in need of restoration. Now that would be an interesting project! Don't think the owner would part with it easily though, although everything has a price. Iain

Feel for you too Boab. Last year I had to put down Morlich, my Chesapeake Bay Retreiver and faithful servant of 14years after he got a cancerous tumour inside his mouth. Hardest decision I've ever had to make in my life but I now realise it was the right thing to do.

I'm double pist off with the snow. Firstly, not only can I not get out to play in the scoob(well I suppose I could if I really wanted to) but also, due to the seasonal nature of my job, the only day I'm working (therefore the only opportunity to make any dosh) at the moment is tomorrow. No chance I think! Anyone fancy some cut-price Arbroath Smokies!
