  1. Somebody in a MY00 UK Turbo got a shock from a 12 year old Cavalier this afternoon. Hello i'm still beside you. When i had the Scooby the best one was a turbocharged Corsa. Neck a neck with a fookin' purple Corsa, brilliant!
  2. Having bought a MY98 with 82,000 miles three years ago (the equivalent of what you're looking at doing now) i'd leave it. I had a bit of bad luck and the bottom end went on mine at 96,000. To be fair the replacement (lower mileage) engine probably helped sell the car when the time came but i was lucky to get what i did for it with 116,000 showing. The thing is, no matter how great the service history is absolutely every non-serviceable part on the car is 89,000 miles old - bushes, springs struts, drop links, gearbox the lot. Although it will feeel fine to drive it will be soggier than a 30,000 mile equivalent as i found out. Unless it's dirt cheap i'd leave it. Bugeyes aren't rare and seem to be cheap enough due to the questionable styling. Hang on for something you don't need to question to see if you're making the right decision.
  3. Danger will always be a harsh reality offshore. What anyone working offshore can do is to try and learn from these terribly unfortunate incidents. Anyone who has been offshore before may have yawned through the helicopter video in the departure gate or the OIMs brief upon arrival but it all counts for something. It may sound crazy but only two trips ago my OIM said something during our brief that could have had a direct impact on this incident. The North Everest is a small installation with approximately 50 persons on board at any time. On such a close knit platform it's not suprising to hear that the place is in a state of shock. Like you say Russ, they thought they had HSE sewn up and had an excellent record to prove this. I heavily doubt they would have become complacent and it goes to show just how alert we all have to be.
  4. More than a bit disappointed with the whole thing to be honest. When you're one of the biggest (and i use the term loosely) artists in the world i expect to be interested in what they have to say. Last nights show seemed very rehearsed, as though she'd was going through the motions and saying what the crowd wanted to hear. The gf is a huge Madge fan and although she wouldn't admit it i think she was disappointed with it too. Certainly didn't warrant a show to herself IMO. Doesn't look too shabby considering she's the same age as my mother though.
  5. Back on the 7th so provided it isn't before then i'll definitely be there, most likely with Emma.
  6. Not half as glamourous... Somewhere between Scotland and Norway. Not entirely sure where exactly but i do know it's howling a gale with rain, sleet and a viscious chill factor for good measure. Enjoy Trinidad/New Zealand fellas.
  7. 8th better for me too, offshore on the 1st.
  8. Fair enough, i didn't really think too much about colour and just went for blue.
  9. Looks good. Can't beat Rally Design for Samcos as far as i'm aware however, even though their delivery charges are akin with daylight robbery.
  10. Grim avatar Russ, BHN?
  11. Thank you very much Cameron. Can get rid of that feckin' avatar now.
  12. PMSL, i really didn't see that one coming.
  13. I thought so. I think the other one belongs to Brian Mearns, has 'NES' on the plate?
  14. Thought i spotted you in Turra' the other day Martyn. I was in my taxi (Cav Turbo) going over the roundabout? Pleased to hear you're happy with Liam & co. Need to pop up myself sometime and see the new premises.
  15. Power Junkie on here knows a good place in Mintlaw if i remember correctly.
  16. Looks like a nice car Marc. The Mother almost bought a new style A3 TD Sport (?) i think? It was a very funky looking car but she opted for a 320d Sport instead. Your's looks even better though, i can see why you bought it.
  17. Convert.exe - everyone should have it.
  18. Love that car. CD2 isn't bad stuff although i've got some of the 'Wax Wizards' magic potion for degreasing duties now. I just stuck a bit of card over the top mount to save damaging the fins with the pressure washer. I didn't cover anything electrical but did start the car soon after to vape any moisture.
  19. Herbie, ask again in a fortnight.
  20. I'm soo pleased to hear that Lindsay. Do you still have that Wagon (in your avatar) lined up or have you your eye on something else? Hopefully i'm not too far behind you.
  21. Cal, i'd call free stickers a success! Nice letter, love the pseudo-journalism. Why use one word when you can use nineteen?
  22. Ross, you should be able to get most of your gaskets from Subaru. Certainly the heads-manifold and uppipe-turbo ones anyway. The HKS manifold-uppipe gasket may be more tricky depending on how HKS designed the flange. The best thing to do is to draw the flange (to scale) and take it with you to Subaru when you buy the rest of the gaskets - see if you can get a match. Just to pick you up on a point there Pete they aren't gaskets, they're spacers. You need an OE gasket either side of these for them to seal properly.
  23. If i told you i'd have to kill you Kenny. I now have access to some excellent equipment so expect more over-engineered parts coming soon. Let me know when i can help.
  24. Further to my quest to make quality machined parts available to the masses i can now supply insulating inlet manifold spacers. These are CNC'd from Tufnol Carp to exact gasket dimensions including locating dowels. 10.2mm thick. £60 a pair. Keep your Scooby cooler this winter.
