  1. Lol good. [] The Cavalier and Clio are regulars on the A947 between Dyce and Turriff. The Subaru less so due to the fact it is more fun on different roads. The Clio is blue by the way.
  2. Breaking the speed limit in built up areas is a bit silly thought isn't it? Granted the A90 exit off of the Bridge of Dee roundabout is one of those where it's hard to resist the temptation to accelerate directly to 70mph but this just makes it all the more likely you will see the traffic police there. It also makes anyone caught speeding there all the more daft. Was a speed trap set or was the police car driving in front of the bus? Unless there was a trap set i'd imagine he'd have just got a slap on the wrist.
  3. Nothing! You can stick a bit of cardboard over the intercooler if you think you're a bit clumsy with the power washer. I tend to just run the engine after i've finished rinsing it to vape any moisture around the electrics.

  5. If you're struggling for numbers Craig Emma (my gf) would probably run her Clio 172 Cup. I'll be taking the Cavalier and running it if i don't get the parts for the Scoob back in time... show up a few UK Turbos. [] []

  7. I'm a devoted IE user but have to admit Firefox is better, it's just i can't be bothered spending the time getting used to it. [:$]
  8. My advice would be to go for an early facelifted Version 3 MY96/7. These have what is believed to be one of the better engines, 4-pot brakes and the facelifted headlights/bonnet/grill. Version 1 STi's didn't have the red manifold but all other versions did so this is a good place to start. The Version 1's are very rare (only 200 made IIRC) so not much chance of stumbling over one anyway. There should be other clues all over the car such as stickers and embroidered seats but the best way to check is (like you've said) by the chassis code. Ken Ross's website has loads of great info as well as a list of all the applied model numbers - http://www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/index.html The SIDC FAQ also has lots of general Impreza info - http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm
  9. Ahmed Bayjoo. Cosworth guru. Don't think he does anything with Subarus though.
  10. Or just hit the Ctrl key and roll the mouse wheel backwards and forwards until you're happy. []
  11. Russ, I'll drive your car back to your house and Emma can drive mine back. [] [] My appearance on Saturday is now largely depandant on getting parts back from the anodisers on Friday... it won't get far without fuel! If the worst comes to the worse i'll grab the parts i need and not bother with the anodising.
  12. Ditto all the Glenburgie comments. I've always used them for parts and servicing without issue, they also do an excellent mail-order service.
  13. Nice car, and only nineteen - i thought i was young getting my first at 20. [] Ok, the RR operator will almost definitely be using a wideband lambda (he'd be daft not to) when he runs your car which will keep a good check on the fuelling. Det is easily audible to the correctly tuned ears although det cans do help. The operator will be well aware of this however so no need to worry. Get the car run on Saturday, the run will end and you'll be like "was that it". It's no big deal unless you have Nitrous.... ...this happened at the last RR Day i organised. www.scoobykillers.comNitrousFireWeb.wmv Everybody was ok thankfully and the car drove home. Anyway! Interesting that you have a Phase 1.5 engine in there. More interesting to note that it was fitted with the Phase 1.5 manifold/ancillairies rather than the original Phase 1 stuff. Things like the TPS require some wiring trickery to fit so it'll be interesting to see how this has been achieved. For the record i have no qualms with using Wallace Performance, i popped in past a couple of months back (funnily enough) to have the fuelling checked out after i swapped injectors and did some other mods and i couldn't have asked for a better service, even got a free cup of tea! Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday. []
  14. I've been perfecting these for the past few months. [H] Perrin offer something for those with side-feed injectors on a Newage (USDM 2.5l STi only though). http://www.perrinperformance.com/products/sti/fuel_rail.htm There's also MRT's rails of which there are a couple of sets on eBay right now for not a lot of cash. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Alloy-Performance-Fu...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MRT-NEW-AGE-SUBARU-I...1QQcmdZViewItem I'd question the arguement as to why you need them though.
  15. It's a solenoid bolted to the inlet manifold which routes fuel vapours and the like which are deposited in the carbon canister to the inlet manifold. There's a picture of a MY97/98 one below, it's hidden beneath the IACV on that manifold. Probably not too far away on the early Phase 1 manifolds.
  16. Does poor Ruth know what she's letting herself in for?! [] I hope all goes well on the day and the honeymoon sounds so good i'm sure you'll enjoy every minute. [H] PS: I've been a bit busy but i'll try and get a wee wedding present rustled up for when you get back. []
  17. ....almost missed this. Shall be there to blow some cobwebs off the RA provided i can put it back together in time. Any objections? No? See you there early! []
  18. "any attempts to circumvent the censoring imposed by the board will be removed"
  19. Not on a Newage but i have experienced a direct comparison between MY98 UK on Toyo T1-S (non-DCCD) and MY98 STi RA on F1's (with DCCD). The old UK car used to be good once you got moving in the snow. You had to puhttp://' target="_blank">ssy-foot around a bit but the car was very predictable and the back end would step out nicely and it was easy to keep it there. I tried to do the same stepping out routine in the RA this winter (same corner etc) with the diff wound almost fully forward (compact snow) and just found oodles and oodles of grip. I tried this a few times and found that with the diff locked the car became far more stable than anything i'd ever driven previously on snow (well, perhaps not the Manitou []). IMO the DCCD can be much safer in the snow if used correctly although i'm sure it wouldn't hesitate in biting back. I tend to think of it like the diff-lock in a tractor or big 4x4... except it's adjustable. I'm no John Felstead when using the DCCD but am finding that the car becomes much more usable when you get the hang of adjusting it on the move. Roll it forward somewhere between the first two greens when on sweeping A-roads (perhaps first amber if it's raining or there's standing water) and wind it forward approximately another notch for twistie bits. A lot of it is down to experimentation though and finding what suits your driving style, remember the diff is infinitely adjustable between fully open and fully closed.

  22. That's a terrible shame if they have folded. I thought the magazine looked brilliant considering it was essentially one mans gargantuan effort that got it going in the first place. After chatting to Jon at Dastek i half-expected 6 pages of photocopied A4 stuck together (kidding) but felt the final product was excellent considering they had no major publisher backing. It will be a great shame if that is the end. []
  23. Lmao, i was great at football. Almost as good as i am at plumbing. [] PS: you calling Russ the fat kid? [] []
