  1. Nice to see everyone is finding their way back home
  2. We have Knockhill circuit booked on Saturday 15th September from 9am to 1pm for an open pit lane session. The cost is only £90 for SIDC members, £98 for non-members and includes unlimited free instruction from the resident instructor, and free use of the wheel and tyre van to swap wheels, check pressures etc. You can also hire slicks, buy new road tyres at excellent fully fitted prices. For more information contact me on john@sidc.co.uk John
  3. Evening all
  4. 1. Fuji Heavy Industries 2. Six (I think) 3.Pleiades 4. 3 (McRae, Grist, Lapworth) 5. Legacy 6. Can't remember, but it was something like a LX or GLX or something like that. 7. No idea 8. His car 9. International Motors 10. 1992
  5. I've not seen any. Most of us were sheltering from the heavy rain under the grandstand at the hairpin [] John
  6. Should be a top night out folks, and well worth attending even if you aren't a local! There are plenty of very good and reasonable B&Bs nearby (ie less than 5 minutes walk) with safe parking. John
  7. It was great having all the MLR members and their cars along for the day [] It would indeed be good to run some more joint events in the future. We'll need to get together over the coming months to come up with some ideas ? John
  8. Ian, program the Sat Nav next time [], or I'll get everyone to shout "left" again after your first lap. Glad you enjoyed the day. Cheers John
  9. Just a quick reminder about our next event at Knockhill on Saturday 15th September from 9am to 1pm. Free track instruction available if required, and also the wheel/tyre changing facilities from Wheels Around. Since our last event on the 28th July, places have been selling rather briskly, so I'd recommend booking up now if you don't want to end up on the reserve list this time around. http://shop.sidc.co.uk/prodView.asp?idproduct=441 to book online. Cheers John
  10. Glad everyone enjoyed the day - it worked out very well despite the poor weather in the afternoon. Excellent turn out of cars, and the show and shine gets harder to judge each year, especially when it's wet. Some stunning cars on display though and also on the track. Very well done to all the winners! Huge list of thanks starts here: Rob D and IainC, Davie (SIMBO) for arriving early, setting up the PA system, clearing the track, marshalling, timekeeping and PA announcing to give me a break from time to time. Carl Davey, Marty, STI Pretender (and possible some others I couldn't see from the control tower), for marshalling all day and helping out in other areas like gate collection [] Special mention to Spooks and Rosie for setting up the marquee and doing a splendid job on the gate, raising a great amount of money (over £500!) for Santa Cruise. Also thanks to everyone who stayed on for a while at the end to help clear the site afterwards, despite the rain being at it's heaviest all day! The only disappointing things were: a) The weather that was fine and dry at the start of the day, but got worse towards the end of the afternoon. That a couple of cars got hurt on track due to the slippery conditions. and c) That despite repeated requests throughout the day, we didn't get more volunteers to assist with the marshalling. Even helping out for just 20 minutes to allow the others to grab a quick break would have made a big difference. It's impossible to run events like this without a group of people to run the day, and just a few more people would have made a big difference. It was great to meet so many new faces, lots of old and familiar ones, and we'll hopefully have one or two more events at this venue next year, when the weather will be nicer [] Just a reminder that the Capri Club have invited us all out there on Sunday 2nd September for a repeat performance, and we've got Knockhill again on Saturday 15th September (though not that many driver slots remianing now - down to under 10!). Cheers John
  11. Just to let everyone know that all the fencing was put up today, the PAs ready for Rob to wire it up, we've got trophies for the show and shine, and also some fantastic prizes from polished Bliss as well. Tomorrow we just need to rig up the PA and extra speakers, brush the track clean a little bit, get some marshalls sorted and we're ready to go [] The normal entrance to the track is currently waterlogged and drainage put in, so we don't quite have so much space as usual. Show and shine cars will be in a special area just to the left as you go through the gate, so they don't get affected by the dust on the cars driving past. The cars lining up in lanes for the track action will be at the far end of the arena, and will enter and exit the track on the same piece of road, before looping back and re-joining their queue again. Quick request: If anyone has a proper stopwatch, could they please bring one along [] Secondly, I've not had time to do any flyers/posters etc (it's just been mad at work this week!)- if someone could print off a few A4 sheets of paper to brighten up the entrance gate a bit to let them know they are at the right place, and donations are going to Santa Cruise it would be hugely appreciated. The weather forecast is looking variable tomorrow. It loosk like we may catch the odd little shower, but on the whole it should be warm and cloudy. A damp track will give us 4WD cars an advantage over the super quick Elises and Exiges etc. Cheers John
  12. The official Time Attack gallery has now been updated with the pictures from the Pro photographer. http://www.timeattack.co.uk/round3gallery2007.asp Some brilliant photos of all the cars [] John
  13. Charlie, I believe that car has over 500bhp, different suspension, dog gear box, fancy diffs, road legal slicks and can do 10 second 1/4 mile runs! It should have been passing most cars with ease [] John
  14. Adam, I've got a few on my flickr account from the afternoon and evening Time Attack sessions: http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnsidc/coll...57601104146790/ John
  15. I've uploaded all of mine now to flickr: Here the crash sequence photos I caught with the RC Developments car Running deep into the hairpin on the previous lap Locking up going into the braking zone Locked up and just a passenger now. Entering the gravel trap, but skimming across the top due to the speed still carried. Just about to hit the tyre wall [] [] [] Orange RC developments cars joins the green one in the gravel trap. Both cars stationary in the gravel trap. Relieved that drivers are all fine, and are out of the cars. Car is well embedded into the tyre wall, but thankfully the damage wasn't as bad as could be expected. Slightly larger versions (and hundreds of others from the event) can be found at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnsidc/sets...57601122349403/ John
  16. Some of you may have got a flyer on your window, or handed to you at KH on Saturday for a company called Manifold (http://www.manifoldonline.co.uk/) They are doing some high quality retro style T-shirts which are designed with drivers in mind - I saw some production samples on Saturday. The company is run by Scott Francis, who drives a nice orange Exige, and has been a regular at our SIDC events for many years (and even a member!). There's a nice Impreza based T shirt design coming out soon - pictures etc on the website. Well worth checking out. John
  17. That was me that organised the display stand that day (yes I can be seen in the background of pic 3, along with Miles Atkinson, another local owner who I'm still in touch with who help get everything set-up on the day). It was an SIDC stand, with my own car on the stand at the time, plus Colin Tinto's 22B, and the rally replica car supplied by Bob at Town and County [] It doesn't seem that long agao, but it must be nearly 9 years now! John
  18. I've uploaded the few I took from the track event itself here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnsidc/coll...57601104146790/ I've still to sort out the comments and descriptions etc - that's the time consuming bit! There's some OK ones, and some well not quite so OK ones in there [] John
  19. Great photos Rob [] Cracking photos of Tut driving with no hands! Will hopefully have more time to catch up with you at Alford this weekend. You should get yourself a flickr Pro account - only $20 per year (£10), and unlimited upload/download of photos and easier to use tools for uploading. photo management etc. John
  20. I've only uploaded the one picture so far [] Full size version can be downloaded from flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=938313175&size=o - warning large file at 4Mb!)
  21. Great photos Dunc [] Glad everyone enjoyed the day - when I was approached and asked if Jimmy could take part in our track event as he hadn't drive the car before, it was always going to be difficult to say no [] Great to meet everyone again, and hope you can all make it up to Alford next Sunday for another great day out. Did anyone else get sunburnt, or was it just me ? Cheers John (away back to bed to sleep for a few more hours, was after midnight before I eventually got home, having been up since 4:30am!)
  22. Top photos! Very enjoyable day out. John
  23. Check your email[:$] []
  24. That's just bl**dy awful. These sort of scum should be terminated at birth in my opinion. Glad to hear that you are OK, and reasonably well, though you'll probably be very sore for a few days. I am sure there will be many more volunteers to help explain to them in no uncertain terms what they did wrong, if you ever find out who they are. John
  25. Welcome Simon, a lot of the Elise/Exige owners also come to our Knockhill and other events - Tut for example has been coming along since about 1998 and pops up on here from time to time. See you around. John
