  2. I can't remember what times I did in my car when I was last at Kames, but it was certainly in the region of about 2 - 3 seconds per lap slower than Mr Stevenson and that wasn't his current rocket, but a red wagon and/or a green Prodrive MY98 car if my memory serves me right. I'd be tempted to take on John's current car in say a 20 lap non-stop race at Knockhill though and be reasonably confident of winning, as I think his current fuel tank would only do about a dozen laps at most before needing re-fuelled John
  3. Aberdeen Monthly meet at Zara (Hen Blackie pub) just down from the BP Offices in Dyce. Go into the Travel Lodge Car Park, look for the other Scoobies and then head off into the pub where you will find everyone.
  4. I'm happy to send him full size copies of any of my photos. They can be viewed at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnsidc/sets...57602226874075/ John
  5. Imy, most of my photos are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnsidc/sets...57602226874075/ I can send you any that you want in hi-res. The hi-res ones are about 6 - 8Mb each, so not practical to email them all. Just let me know the numbers of any that your are interested in. I'll make a donation for to Jerviswood Trust for every photo used John Editted to add that under no circumstances should anyone use any Getty images without full permission for the type of use (ie print/website etc). They will take legal action against anyone using their images illegally, and as well as paying for the use you would also be responsible for legal costs running into tens of thousands!
  6. Although it was a very sad occasion that brought us all together, it was a very memorable day that will stay with me for a very long time. I'd just like to express a huge word of thanks to: - All of those who made things happen on the day - Grant, Imy, Ally-B and others, Strathclyde police, Lanarkshire council amongst many others. - Those who attended the event, some driving very long distances to get there. Your attendance was very much appreciated. The speeches, videos, photos and music were very moving, and at times there was barely a dry eye amongst the crowd where I was standing, though I was very pleased that there were many humourous anecdotes and stories as well. I was particularly moved by Dave Richards and Ari Vatanen who gave very personal insights of Colin throughout his career. The event was a very fitting tribute to a true hero and legend. I have uploaded some of my photos here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnsidc/sets...57602226874075/ I have not had time to do any post processing on most of these to adjust brightness/contrast etc., but I'll do this over the coming days. Apologies if I didn't get a photo of your car - I had to run to my own car after about half the convoy went through to avoid getting left behind. If anyone wants any high resolution copies of any photos then you'll find details on the flickr website. 100% of donations (plus 28% gift aid) will go to the Jerviswood Trust. I'll take the hit on any paypal fees etc. John
  7. Was a good night with over £1,000 raised. There was a queue for seats at the blackjack table all night! Imy won the track event as first prize in the raffle, and even I went home with some additions to the drinks cupboard Well done for all those who organised There were some incriminating photos of someone in a Scooby-Doo outfit that wouldn't be suitable on a forum where kids visit John
  8. I'm aiming to be south of Stonehaven for about 10:20 - 10:30 to meet Dale and any other ABZ guys, so should be into Dundee shortly after 11am. I'll fill up with fuel there, as it should then last me all day and not have to worry about fuel on the way home. If we don't see you en-route, then we'll see you at Happendon services for about 1pm. John
  9. I'm going as well, but would probably head straight down the Netherley Road coming out at Stonehaven, rather than coming through the city. Happy to meet up sotuh of Stonehaven or in Dundee with the others if there is an approximate time ? John

  11. A huge word of thanks from me for all involved with this very moving tribute that has touched many people across the world. As much as I would have loved to be there, it simply wasn't possible. John
  12. Colin was such an inspiration to so many of us for many years, it is hard to put into words just how much he was loved by so many of us. His abundant natural talent behind the wheel and his determination to win, not just compete, was obvious to anyone fortunate to witness him in action. I feel honoured to have watched Colin complete in many rallies throughout his career - from the early events in Scotland, to a WRC event in Perth Australia, and most recently on the WRC event in Catalunya a few years ago. The world has lost one of it's True legends, and is today a much sadder and lonlier place. You will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends you leave behind. Rest In Peace Colin John
  13. Thats all my pictures uploaded now. Good ones in with the bad ones: Scoobys and EVOs http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnsidc/sets...57602044320353/ Loti http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnsidc/sets...57602044328551/ Caterfields and others: http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnsidc/sets...57602044337023/ Enjoy and feel free to post up any good ones that you find in there - I've just been batch processing them and not had time to look in detail! John
  14. I needed something to distract me from the awful news about Colin McRae, do I've uploaded some of the photos I took yesterday during the track event here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnsidc/sets...57602030537572/ Tommy's stunning car coming out of the hairpin Ariel Atom mid spin The most amazing sounding car on track: Acid's very nice RA - photo came out very sharp for one of my panning efforts! Another great turn out from the Lotus owners I'll be uploading the rest of the photos here over the next few days, once I get the time to sort them all out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnsidc/coll...57602034644576/ John
  15. Just heard this absolutely devastating news My heart goes out to his family and friends. John
  16. No problem. See you there John
  17. I'll be there early and happy to give you a lift, but you'll need to be out of bed early. I'll most likely be heading down the Netherley road via Peterculter and coming out at Stonehaven. There's also a few Elise owners as well. Not sure about anyone who is just coming to watch from the ABZ area, that might be a better option for you (ie a few more hours in bed ) John
  18. It's different days of the week at different stations. The one at the Bridge of Don is on a Wednesday, but sadly I had to fill up today. Don't think I would have made it until tomorrow (another 30 miles or so there and back), when I'm already 40 - 50 miles after the warning light came on
  19. Gary, this event is now full I'm afraid, so I'm now taking bookings for the reserve list - though this is small at the moment so a good chance of getting a slot. Drop me an email on john@sidc.co.uk with his details and I'll add him. Cheers John
  20. Higgy - yes there is space The new shop isn't working 100% yet with credit card payments, so you'll have to pay by cheque made payable to SIDC please on the day. Can you please drop me an email to john@sidc.co.uk just to confirm everything. Cheers John
  21. Cheers Gus, you wouldn't happen to know his "real" name by any chance ? Cheers John
  22. I'm hoping someone out there can help me please. I need the owner's names who won the show and shine events at Alford. I've got two of them already, but I need to know who owns: T** SJL N*** TAM If someone (perhaps the owners?) can drop me an email with the details, then I'll forward them onto Total Impreza magazine for inclusion of their first issue John
  23. Cor, this is dragging up a thread from the past (6 years ago). I'm not aware that it was run this year, as they have been busy preparing the AECC for Offshore Europe for the past month. I think the last one was about two years ago, which I couldn't attend as I was on holiday ? John
  24. John, there are still slots remaining, so no need to panic yet. If you want to reserve a slot, then just send me an email on john@sidc.co.uk confirming you'll attend, and you can pay by cheque (made payable to SIDC please) on the day. When the shop is back working again, I'll reduce the stock count by one to compensate. If you want to pay by card, then you'll need to wait until the shop is back up and running. Cheers John
