BBQ Catering at the Alford event on Sunday is being provided by the Inverurie Round table. All proceeds from food sales will go back to deserving causes in the local community, so please buy lots of food during the day (leaving enough for me of course) As in previous years, anyone who is willing to put on a dayglo vest for an hour or two and help with either marshalling the track activities, operating a stopwatch, collecting donations on the gate or directing cars to the correct parking areas within the site will be given a token that they can exchange for free food and drink at lunchtime I'm also looking for a couple of people to help me set-up the site on the Saturday afternoon from 2pm onwards. This is basically wiring up the PA system, and putting up some safety fencing around the track. With 3 or 4 people, this should only take about an hour. Any volunteers? John

Yesterday wasn't the best day for taking photos, so didn't get take as much as I usually do, and those that I did take didn't turn out too well. I've uploaded mine here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnsidc/sets...7051765/detail/ To view as a slideshow (saves you clicking lots): http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnsidc/sets...527051765/show/ A wave from the passenger: Drilled number plate: Several Caterhams only had one headlight working - maybe take out the bulbs to save weight John

Fantastic Prizes At Alford Event, Sunday 5th July
johns replied to johns's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Yes, yes and yes We'll have prizes for the winner of the show and shine, track participation and a prize draw -
Hi all, I thought I had posted this up last week, but the IT gremlins seem to have eaten the post We have some great prizes to be won at our National Day at Alford on the 5th July, including Knockhill track events and wait for it.... Tim of Autoecosse in Dundee (www.autoecosse.com) has kindly offered a Prodrive Performance Pack for any Impreza as a prize. To be in with a chance of winning this and other prizes all you need to do is to attend the event in person, and have a chat with the guys at Autoecosse at some point during the event. There will be prizes for both show and shine and track cars. It should be a fantastic day out for any enthusiast. Look forward to seeing lots of you there John

All going to be ready for Brands on the 28th?

Awesome pictures showing just how dangerous taking photos can be at times. Very glad to hear the photographer is OK though.

The event starts at 10:00 and goes onto 16:00. Some of us setting up will be there a bit earlier though

Checkpoint on George Street used to have a good reputation for fitting car alarms, but I've not been there for a couple of years now.
-
Agreed about the sprinters, but we had to turn down a lot of people last year who wanted to take their car out on track as it was simply too popular. Hopefully this year more people will venture out on track, even if just for a few laps

Hope to see lots of you there

Nice write-up, and pity about the gasket going. I did wonder why you pulled off at the top of the circuit in the final but never got the chance to talk to you during the day. John

Nice Weather looked good as well!

Spooks - some great shots despite you claiming to be "off form" My drifting pics didn't seem to turn out very well either - I've uploaded a few of them here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnsidc/sets...57618419420328/

Not long home and still smiling even though I am sunburnt to a crisp. What a great day out, nice to meet so many old and new friends. Very well done to all those taking part and getting fantastic results. Well done to Tam for winning a show and shine prize John (my photos will come later - I need to find some after sun cream first, and then some food )

Nice write up, and good to see both the car and driver have lots of potential When I had my classic, pad knock off was quite common when the wheel bearings were on their way out, especially when everything was hot. A set of APs more or less cured the issue for me, with much less heat going into the hubs from the brakes but under repeated hard use, the bearings (mostly passenger side front) did need replaced about once a year.

I've had these fitted to my STi for about 6 months now. The biggest issue I have with them is the amount of brake dust they produce. Even under light commuting use (about 120 miles in a week), the front wheels are almost black by the end of the week. If you leave the wheels a few weeks between cleaning (as I do over winter ), then it's very difficult to shift the built up deposits even using the very corrosive Wonder Wheels cleaner and leaving it to soak in for longer periods of time! I've even got stains on my driveway now from washing the wheels with the amount of dust that comes off them. Mine also squeel a bit under light use when the are hot. I think I'll go back to the DS2500s again after these ones, despite them being a bit more expensive.

I'e posted my photos from the event up here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnsidc/sets...57616056621566/ It was a bit too cold to stand out for long periods of time, but a great day overall! Stuart - sorry you had an off, but very happy that everyone was OK and the damage doesn't look too bad. John

I am alive, but just working overseas at the moment with very restricted net access. I'll be home in a few days and will respond to everyone then

I have been running H rated winter tyres for the past 4 years on my Imprezas
