  1. Please don't jinx it []
  2. Can't complain about the Prodrive springs for the car. Doesn't lower it that much, but the changes to the spring rates transform the handling, and doesn't impact on ride quality (actually improves it slightly under mst circumstances!). They are made by Eibach to Prodrive specs (which are different to Eibach ones available directly). Available from your friendly Subaru dealer. Think the cost is around £180. John
  3. Get well soon Rosie!
  4. I might know someone with a set of Prodrive springs for a MY02 bugeye Sti. Boxed and new. John
  5. Peter, put me down for £15 worth of tickets please. Will collect/pay at Knockhill on the 11th. Cheers John
  6. Dave has been to many an SIDC track event over the past 8 years. When he first owned the Skyline he took it out on two of our track events. Had brake problems first time out, so massive APs were fitted for the next outing. After that, it was mostly used for darg type events. Dave was at one of our events earlier this year in his stunning Porsche GT2. John
  7. Colin, I don't even bother checking until, about 3 or 4 days prior to the event. it changes far too often to be reliable. Fingers crossed the weather will be fine though [] John
  8. I actually found my original membership card whilst clearing out some stuff this weekend. I'm member number 43, and that would have been around summer 97 I think. David is correct in that the first SIDC track event I organised at Knockhill was in 1998, not lng after I got my Terzo. We've done about 4 or 5 a year ever since. 1998 was the first year we ran the Tour d'Ecosse as well - and that first one was a very memorable event, with lots of people coming up from the South to take part including Pete Croney in Ander's 22B. Some of the guys from the early days still keep in touch, and sometimes make an appearance at KH just to watch or catch up with people. John
  9. I'd recommend the standard dump valve it comes with [] Does the job and doesn't affect performance, fuelling, idling and doesn't attract attention. If you do fit Morrette's, then I might buy the standard STi lights from you if you were selling. I've got a small internal crack in the housing of one of mine, but it's not worth buying a new one as it passes an MOT and you can't notice it unless you look closely. John
  10. Are you saying that you haven't revved it above midrange in anger yet []
  11. "For example for me to get anywhere near John, i'd need around 650bhp! " Is that Phase II then Alan []
  12. I'm sure a rough estimation wouldn't be too far out. Assume John's car does the 1/4 mile in 11.0 seconds at something like 130mph. This gives a ratio of 130/11 = 11.8 Andy's car does the 1/4 miles in 9.1 seconds at say 160mph, giving a ratio of 18.1 490bhp/tonne * 18.1/11.8 = 750bhp/tonne [] OK there's too many variables concerning available traction, gear change points, drag coeffiecient, rolling drag of tyres etc. to make it 100% accurate, but it gives you a general idea of the performance differences. Given that at standard Impreza is around 170 - 200bhp/tonne (and that's generally regarded as quick!), you can see that Alan's, John's and Andy's cars are [insert expression of choice] quick! For example, John's car can accelerate at about 3 times as fast as a standard Impreza, whilst Andy's would be in the region of 4.5 times as fast as a standard Impreza. If you can imagine how quick that is, perhaps you can realise how you need to treat cars this powerful with a lot of respect, and how it can be difficult to use/harnass all that power safely, especially on the road. John
  13. Welcome back [] We did get contacted by Weir's earlier this year, and I can confirm that discounts should already be in place on parts etc. Ishbeal even came along to one of our track events earlier in the year, but I failed to get her out on track as a passenger. See you soon hopefully. John
  14. OK, not many other suggestions, and no-one keen to make a decision. So.... why not go for the Redgarth in Inverurie this next time. Tuesday 7th November (first Tuesday of the month) at 7:30pm. Do they do meals as well, might be nice to get a bite to eat if possible ? John
  15. You can add: Free participation at an SIDC Knockhill event during 2007. Raffle winner can choose the event of their choice, once the dates are sorted out. John
  16. I just posted up the Torryburn as a first suggestion as it springs to mind (was drunk there at the weekend []). I'm seriously hoping that we'll get some other suggestions for places to meet/things to do etc. John
  17. Sounds like a great idea to me. Any suggestions ? Last month we thought about holding it at a different location, perhaps a bit more northerly as most of the regulars travel from that area. I'll start off by suggesting the Torryburn in Kintore, as I can walk there and have a beer or two [] John
  18. Not good news, but I don't know any cars that match that description. Never seen an Impreza with Neons in real life. John
  19. Stephen, any chance you could update the website to show this as a confirmed event [] John
  20. Now confirmed as Saturday 11th November from 9am to 1pm. See http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/805606/ShowPost.aspx for more info. Sorry to disappoint those who could only make the 9th. John
  21. All the best for the future Russ. John
  22. Excellent Darin, Craig and JohnSt - make the necessary arrangements and grab two of those last 4 places before someone else deprives you of the chance/bragging rights. You won't get so much fun for £30 as you will on this day [] John
  23. OK everyone, the possible dates/times are as follows: Sat 11th November, 9am to 1pm, likely cost around £70-75 (cheaper due to time of year). However, I may not be available that weekend due to testing at w*rk (just in case there is a swear filter on that word!). Sunday 26th November, 10am to 2pm. Unfortunately, likely cost would be around £95 even with 40 cars taking part, as the costs are about 30% higher for a Sunday, compared with a Saturday. Given the higher costs and higher numbers to break even I would be very uneasy about booking this date. Saturday 9th December, 10am to 2pm. Likely cost around £70 -75 due to the time of year. Later start than normal (ie I can get up at 6am instead of 5!), and this would be my preferred choice at the moment. If people can post up their preferences, then I'll review the interest. If you can put your name against all the dates below that you can make/would be happy to attend as a paying participant, noting the higher price for the Sunday event. John 11th November: 1. 26th November 1. 9th December: 1.
  24. Craig, it would be classified as racing, which would open a whole can of worms regarding insurance, safety regulations etc. Sprints etc have differrent classes including road going cars, which permit these to be used (one car on track at a time) without extensive safety mods. Insurance would also be a nightmare. I'm sure there are a few on here who will book up, but just don't want to be first. Would be nice for at least one Impreza to come away with a trophy [] John
  25. Hi Rog, I'm hoping that between us we can encourage a few Imprezas along to take part - we certainly had plenty of them at Alford this year so there are plenty out there who are keen. Even though I'm on holiday, I'm going to try and make it along to watch for a few hours in the afternoon. I'm sure once the first one books on, the remaining slots will fill very quickly indeed. Hope the event is a great success, and we can look forward to more next year. Who knows, we may even be able to start a regular competition. John
