  1. A few miles from Falkirk, but Stevie Walkers in Bathgate are very good. 01506 633471. Me, Gus The Bus, braveheart, kennyuk300 and a few others on here have used him. Braveheart's white classic is in there just now I think.
  2. If the whole Piquet thing hadn't happened at the same track last year, and this wasn't the 1st race after the FIA hearing, i'd have said yes it looked deliberate. However, those events make me think any driver would have to be "aff their heed" to crash deliberately this weekend.
  3. Bloody hell Chris, Boab must be loving you with all that masking up!
  4. My experience, not that it really matters: I bought my 03-plate red WRX from S&S and the actual sale process was fine. I dealt with a guy who isn't there anymore (name starts with a K I think - Keiran maybe?) and I used them afterwards for a service and fitting of my prodrive springs - again, all fine. When I first went to see the car (before purchase) there was a crease on the front nearside wing - approx. 8 inches long. I (obviously) wanted this fixed before I came to collect the car which was done. However, about a year later (approximately) some rust bubbles started to appear on the wing, right where the crease had been. I spoke to Lorna, and whoever the older guy is that owns the place and it was (grudgingly) agreed that the wing would be repaired at their cost. I then organised with Lorna the date when the car could be booked in. Those that know me (and the car) will know that I probably suffered from OCD as far as the paintwork on the car was concerned, so I must have told Lorna at least 5 times (both on the phone and face to face) that the car MUST be perfect when I get it returned to me, and she assured me it would be and she would pass the message onto the people responsible for actually repairing the car. Alas, all was not perfect. The wing looked like it had been rubbed down with a brillo pad (the actual rust bubbles were gone though). A couple of tar spots had been painted over, and several areas of the car were covered in overspray (weirdly the back bumper was the worst - this was furthest from the panel being sprayed). There was ridge of paint inside the wheel arch. You may say this is no big deal but when you ask, repeatedly, for a perfect job (both because the paintwork elsewhere on the vehicle was up to a good standard and also because I live a fair distance away from S&S which makes it pain to go back for remedial works) it tends to put you off the company. I complained, and I was told by the older owner to bring it back & they would have a look at it "when they get a minute". Aye, right then. I sorted the overspray & the excessive swirls myself and then had the whole wing painted again properly at my own cost when the car was in a local bodyshop getting some other bits done a few months later. After that I always used Ian Grieves and would continue to do so if I purchased another Subaru.
  5. I can't see Renault getting thrown out at the hearing next week. There will be a deal somewhere in the background - remember Max and Flabio aren't best buddies and the whole lying to the stewards thing with Lewis was pretty much swept under the carpet when Ron Dennis (another one not on Max's xmas card list) said he would step down from the race team. Now that Flabio has gone I suspect it'll all be a case of "he said this", "no I didn't" crap at the hearing. One persons word against another with no proof. (I haven't read the transcripts by the way - any link to them?) Max will have got what he wanted with Flabio getting the boot.
  6. Briatore and Symonds sacked (or have left!) Renault. Statement from Renault say they are not going to contest the race fixing charges on Monday. Interesting.
  7. Maybe the damage that caused it to be a Cat D was mostly front end, so why not if you have to buy wings, bumper, bonnets, lights etc anyway?
  8. Definitely not Force 10's - I had them on my old Subaru and although these ones are similar they are not them.
  9. Ouch. I've had two out, probably about 18 years ago and I can still remember. Green Goblin - I hope whoever scratched your car dies in agony.
  10. Nice pics Neil, I knew it was arriving today but I was stuck on a photography course in the centre of Edinburgh
  11. Quite an interesting race. I don't know how Gross John could claim it was Button who took him out though. Barry's Chello was fun at the end with it smoking like a lum. Close one with Webber and the BMW in the pits too. Slightly controversial was Kimi's off-track excursion at the 1st bend on the 1st lap - it looked like there was an advantage there which he didn't give back later in the lap, and the stewards either think differently or missed it.
  12. We had a similar'ish experience Neil and it was without doubt the scariest experience of my life so I can empathise. However, it's amazing how quickly you forget. Our wee one is 19 months now (and into everything!) - and there's not a day goes by that she doesn't fill me with joy. Welcome to parenthood - it's a job for life!
  13. Mmm. Nice. Any more (from the front?)
  14. Congratulations to Neil & his wife Kirsten on the birth (this morning) of their son Logan. http://www.flickr.com/photos/4hero/3830320099/ Wishing you 3 all the best for the future.
  15. Where are you staying when you are up in Nairn?
  16. It's not looking good for Livi. Relegated to Division 3.
  17. Yup another vote for Stevie Walkers - 01506 633471. I've been using his place for nearly 20 years for repairs etc on both my car & the wife's.
  18. Hopefully Toyota & Renault don't follow suit. I see Schumi is going to be back for Valencia, pending a fitness test. I know he injured his neck in a motorboke accident earlier this year so hopefully that won't stop him racing. Bit of a slap in the face for the two Ferrari back-ups though (Badoer & Mark Gene).
  19. Seems I do have that option after all! Here is an image I took this afternoon - EOS 400D with kit 18-55 EF-S Lens, 31mm extension ring, on Manual settings (1/200 at f5.6, ISO 100). Didn't turn out perfect, I had to lighten it slightly in PS and there is a smudge on the T of BENTLEY. I've just bought a 430EX II Flash and i've mounted it off-camera so just getting used to it. I've got a Tamro SP AF90mm Di Macro lens coming tomorrow so looking forward to trying that out! P.S. It isn't a real Breitling
  20. Ah, I don't have that option in Elements 7.
  21. Nice pic JC - what do you use to put the frame/border round your images?
  22. If this is the car Hammond had when they done the speed runs on the salt flats then go for that. Superb noise for a beautiful motor car.
  23. Ah ok. I'm considering the Tamron SP 90mm f2.8 DI Lens for my Canon. It came out as best in a recent DSLR Magazine test.
