Aye it is a rip-off for a couple of bits of mesh, I got S&S to fit the blobeye version onto mine before I got the car and I think they charged me something like £220. I think the one on Revolution is the black plastic-looking grille, and it sits quite far inside the gap - not flush with the bumper like the prodrive ones. They are £109.99 John, although they do them in silver for an extra £20 (and they are an extra 2-3 weeks)

Phoned Charlie @ Grieve's this morning and he said to bring it down - they put it up on the ramp and checked all the exhaust & heatshields - all seemed fine. The only thing they could see was a spring was missing from the nearside front brake caliper, which might have meant the pad was vibrating about in the caliper. Must say I was a bit doubtful but he ordered me a spring in anyway & i'll get it fitted next week. BUT I got home and it wasn't pouring down for a change so I had a bit of a gander under the bunnet myself. I spotted that the foam tube that is round the bonnet stay was in the middle of nowhere, and the stay was rubbing off that air intake thingy on the right-hand side of the engine at the front. So I slid it back along, went for a run and it was still rattling it's heed aff so back to square one. I then found that the strut brace was moving about in the pink end-holders. Tightened them up and I THINK the vibrating has now gone. I fitted the brace over a year ago and it's a bit weird how it wasn't vibrating one day, didn't use the car for a week then it started vibrating loudly as soon as I used the car again.

Fairly sure the part number you need is SACC2616 and it's £275inc VAT.

Seano - they don't come in red (from subaru) so you would probably be best buying a cheap pair of 2nd hand corner pieces (from jimser) and getting them painted - 22G i think is the paint code.

I'm going to see if Charlie @ Ian Grieve can spare a mechanic for half an hour tomorrow or friday just to diagnose the problem - to put my mind at rest (hopefully). If Charlie is struggling i'll see if Duncan at Hypertech can have a wee look, or maybe George or John at Extreme in Whitburn. Might give you a shout the morra Gus, i'd have a right good look around myself but it's freezing and pee'ing down, and I don't have a garage.

Merry Christmas & A Very Happy New Year To Everyone
oobster replied to Dougie C's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Merry Xmas everyone from Dawn, Andy & 'the bump' :frosty: -
Cheers John. Anyone else have opinions and/or experience on whether this is likely to be a heatshield? I know it can be difficult to diagnose over the internet, but some suggestions on what else it COULD be would be appreciated.

As above - the car has been sitting since last monday, decided to take it out a run today to the MIL in Renfrew. I'd hardly got 2 miles from the house when I started to hear this loud rattle from the front of the car/behind the dash. Seemed to come and go though, I could hardly hear it when on the new smooth freshly-laid tarmac west of Harthill on the M8 but it was quite loud on some of the older tarmac. I had a quick look-see when we arrived in Renfrew and couldn't spot anthing obvious loose etc, but I wondered if it might be the turbo heatshield? It doesn't rattle at idle, it does rattle in all gears though, and didn't seem to rattle at all on the way back until the car had warmed up. Any other suggestions? Car is running, idling and pulling fine and no other issues or symptoms. If it is the turbo heatshield, or a cat heatshield or similar is it ok to drive about with it loose? If it falls off on it's own before I can get it in to be looked at does it NEED to be replaced? If so, what kind of £ am I looking at? Xmas and a baby due in less than a fortnight means this is one bill I could have been doing without!

Aye, as I suspected, as i was talking utter peesh. The ones I bought are PowerBulbs PowerBlue - H1 fitting, 12V 55W. I also got a free pack of Osram W5W 'Cool Blue' sidelight blubs, 12V 5W. At the time Power Bulbs were doing a BOGOF offer so I only paid for one pair of H1's, got a 2nd set free + 2 pairs of the sidelight bulbs. All were delivered next day. PITA to fit though, if I remember correctly. Definitely made a big difference, and definitely not nove/corsa/saxo boy-racer blue tinge on them.

More xenon blue. Give me 5 mins and i'll go check exactly which ones I bought.

http://www.powerbulbs.com/index.asp I think it was the Phillips Blue Vision H1 I put in my blobeye at it made a huge difference.

Hullo there and welcome to Scottish Scoobies. Very nice car you have there, I like the wheels too.

Spotted this on a thread over on Pistonheads Ouch!

I think it stands for Mass Air Flow - the ECU uses it's readings to know how much air is coming in, so that it can work out how much fuel it needs to fix with it. As i understand it, if the MAF is not working properly it can lead to too much or too little fuel going in, which I imagine (almost completely clueless on engines) would mean there was fuel going into the cylinders which wouldn't ignite and would fook the engine.

Piaa Silicone Or New Flat Wiper Blades ?
oobster replied to Ian Coulter's topic in Scottish Scoobies
I've had the PIAA ones on my car for about a year now, they are still clearing the screen prefectly and no annoying squeaks or judders. -
Very nice - especially those wheels May I suggest removing the STi badges & stickers though? Maybe de-badge the bootlid completely for the nice clean uncluttered look.

I've used Murdoch from Dent Central a few times - I think he lives over in Denny. His number is 07855 799 642.

I wonder how they could do that when he wasn't actually driving the car or even in it? Surely you have to be USING the car to commit the offence?
