I've just thought of an excellent way to save an absolute fortune modding my car.
I'll just post up some power graphs from the race car, pretending they are from my new age car and i will be 'the best' []
Why not ? I'm happy with the way it drives with 300bhp, all thats missing is the huge bhp dyno sheet to lay on the dash at meets and for chatting about on-line []
Only one flaw in that plan, I can't remember the last time the race car was on a dyno......
I ran octane booster for over 400 on my set up, Harvey has just made 420bhp on a 20g on his car, not sure what fuel mix that was on ?
GT hybrids should be able to do it on V power.
If you want to guarantee 400+ then I'd say the Garrett hybrid but be carefull which one you get, the 20G has made more than 400 but not on all applications.

FWIW, an unmetered air ingress prior to the turbo would not necessarily show itself during mapping IF the leak was consistant throughout.
The mapping process includes matching the fueling to the measured airflow, there is no way to identify a smallish leak as the maf signal is different on each car.
If the leak stayed constant, then the performance would not be affected up or down (other than unfiltered air causing more wear over time)
The problem would come when the leak either increased or was repaired. If it increased then the car would run lean and possibly over advanced on timing. If it was repaired/reduced then it would run richer and with more retarded timing.
If the air leak was post turbo then the opposite would apply.

I used to have an RS1600 BDA with steel internals, cams etc running on 48's much more fun than a scoob, sounded brilliant too !
Regards tuning for power, I can tell from the air and fuel flow in conjunction with the ignition timing if things are improving or not.
Measuring the acceleration between two fixed rpm points also provides useful feedback.
The resulting power 'number' is just a consequence of getting the best from the parts fitted to the car, thats all I aim to do rather than target a particular power figure.
I'm not claiming any figures whatsoever for Chris's car, anyone that has had their car mapped here will vouch for that. I'm just saying it made more power on the td06-49 turbo than the previous unit.
Raising the fuel pressure can allow the injectors to run more power, I've seen as high as 440 bhp from 550's at 4 bar diff
"a standard engine will only flow so much air...doesnt matter what size of turbo is trying to ram the air thru it...
fundementals my good man LOL"
Wrong I'm afraid. A std engine can make extremely high bhp with a big turbo, longevity is the issue.
A std internals 2.0 Sti 7/8/9 on a big turbo/intercooler/injectors will flow enough air to run to 500bhp (for a very short time)
Gumballs car was making more power on the bigger turbo without doubt.
As an example at 1.5 bar a td04 turbo will run 290bhp, TD05 will run 340 and a TD06 will run approx 400, A twisted GT30 would be low/mid 400's ..... on the same engine.

If you want to leave it with an 'Andy' Jamie, then I'll volunteer [] The other Andy tends to be .... er a little bit unlucky and breaks his toys on occassion []

Scott I have given up trying to educate both you and your tuner Steve Simpson. I explained to you a number of times that with the APS parts fitted your car was suffering from boost creep, a mechanical issue with the turbo that is outwith the control of the ECU, any ECU.
Any tuner relying on an AFR figure as displayed on a rolling road on a car with a maf sensor and induction kit has a basic lack of understanding of how these cars work.
See you at knockhill shortly ? I'll also have a new age car so level playing field []
Seems like someone is going to have their mirrors full of blue and white eh Craig []
Thats news to me Scott ?
When you melted your exhaust headers (due to high EGT one assumes) and had your engine problems you were on the GEMS ECU or did you forget that ?
Andy
Kev has done a bit of work to the car since I sold it, FMIC, 20G instead of 18G, TGV delete, cold air induction, 3" instead of 2.5" exh, all topped off with the ECU's 53rd, 54th and 55th remap on sat night !!
Still on the std clutch !
Andy
It would be impossible on 380's ! The car has 650cc injectors fitted Kev. If you had known that would you have paid me more for my baby

If it was TOTB3 then it is the same car I have now (well the bodyshell anyway !)
The Blue Sti 5 ran in TOTB 3, 4 and 5
My previous White WRX RA was at TOTB 2
