  1. Nice result Gordon [] The hose that came off during mapping was where the AVC-R boost take off had been 'T'd in to the dump valve control line. The MPH input to the AVCR was reading a constant 20mph regardless of the speed the car was moving. The speed input signal to the ECU as read via the laptop and the output to the speedo display were both reading normally. Its sorted now though [] Andy
  2. I think this just about sums it up nicely. Worth dwelling on what makes a "Professional" Quote - Professional: master: an authority qualified to teach apprentices I see no mention of big workshop, employees or even a rolling road [] in fact, on a level playing field I wonder who would be the master and who would be the apprentice ? Stick with it mate, you're doing a fine job from the cars I see here [H] Andy
  3. It was your original turbo/decat/remap power curve that we referenced with Andy. It had a few lbft more in the midrange and a few bhp less at the top end, possibly due to running with a sports cat instead of a humungus wake the dead system []
  4. Thanks for the feedback Gordon [] Those twin scrolls are just so nice to map as they have such a wide useable power band. It almost doesn't matter what gear you are in as long as its somewhere between 3 and 8k [] Once you get the AVC-R wired correctly then the in-gear boosts can be set up more linear. cheers Andy
  5. I couldn't agree more Marc, it's too easy to get hung up on the peak numbers...... but hey, thats what sells dyno time Andy
  6. I was unaware that the reason for the Sti 8 discrepancy had been established. I was indeed talking about a DD RR regarding the 15bhp overnight loss, this was to highlight just one good reason not to try and compare different rollers. One positive (ish) point about the DD is that the ramp rate is locked when in shoot 44 mode and that limits the duration of the run to a short and sensible level. Once you start to play with acceleration rates, it is all too easy to overcook and damage a high powered engine on the rolling road, as I'm sure you are aware. Andy
  7. No, I didn't know that. Would that explain how a certain Sti8 got 400+ at Dastek and circa 370 at WP ? Nor will they tell you how fast your car will be on the street/track. Currently the UK's fastest std internals 2.0 Subaru on the 1/4m shows only 340bhp on a DD RR Similar cars showing 420+ however are running slower times and mph. Not a Dastek unit but recently I was mapping some cars on a customers rolling road (against my better judgement) and one car lost 15 bhp after sitting overnight unaltered You certainly can't compare DD rolling roads in different locations (or is that different operators) so I don't expect a dastek operated in different hands to be any different. For some light reading - http://www.andyforrestperformance.co.uk/26063.html Andy
  8. You have nothing to worry about Cal. If a road car doesn't run right on the dyno, thats a problem for the dyno, not the car in my opinion. PS Craig, It is normal for my tuned cars to lose "dyno bhp" as they travel North apparently [] Andy
  9. I hope to be there if my new buy comes off [] Time I got the hang of corners again [] Just a bog std MY02 car [] Andy
  10. May pop across at some point but not with the car. Still waiting on a front diff shaft arriving from Quaife. Apparently, as they are far far away in englandshire, it takes more than 3 days for a package to get here [] John St got his box parts from Oz quicker ! Andy
  11. Pah, if it makes 300 I'll be surprised.............. very surprised [][] Andy
  12. I'd only be dissappointed with the results [:'(]
  13. [] Looking at Eds signature Peter, that would gain him 1lbft and lose him up to 11bhp [:'(] Thanks for the recommendation though [] ps remap is only 500+v cheers Andy
  14. Thanks guys Yes the terminal was 158.55mph Here's the 9.1 run taken from behind....oh-er An excellent day everything considered with all 7 runs in the 9's Note to self.... don't do celebratory do-nuts on warm sticky drag radials... its not good for the shafts  http://video.tinypic.com/player.php?v=25sad5g
  15. Sorry if you think I'm being picky here Dave but I can't sit back and listen to someone being told crap by people who 'should' know better. You appear to be quoting power from run 3 and torque from run 2 ? what did you actually end up with ?? Regarding torque and power, it shouldn't be an either/or option. The purpose of mapping is to take the time to safely maximise both, this may take 10+ runs and then would need to be refined on the road afterwards. Your brief torque peak on the graph is clearly due to an overboost spike on spool up, genuine sustainable torque would have been maintained over a greater rpm range. Andy
  16. Well you can either be a Jack of all trades or........ ps I've heard Sam is an excellent dentist
  17. An engines an engine... so don't see how Andy couldn't map it. Two options then Andy Forrest or Sam Ellassar Never said I couldn't [] just that I wouldn't ! Andy
  18. Thats strange ? With a light load run, these ECU's will learn the advance multiplier within 30 seconds from a reset ? They don't need any longer. Andy
  19. Wow, those wheels were silver under the dust []
  20. Yea. I caught a quick glimpse of the van Frank, didn't quite see the driver as he passed us at around xxx mph [] Andy
  21. Looks good Peter [] Your turbo looks similar to Wilkys in which case its rated around 450-480bhp[H] IIRC Andy
  22. Thanks for the thanks guys [] It was a pleasure to work on the cars, no bits falling off etc [] Russell done a cracking job there on Craig and Kevs cars, door to door delivery service too ! Can't be bad [] Some nice fast [] roads you have up there ! Andy
