  1. Harvey will do you a set on exchange for around £100 Brian. My WRX headers are 'Harvey ported' He makes an excellent job of them, there is a good few hours work involved even when you have all the proper cutting tools and know what you're doing. Andy
  2. Nice one Cal. Good to meet you today I wonder what it would make at dastek Looks like it was still increasing at 6000rpm where the run was terminated ? It would have been good to compare the drop off in power at high rpm which is far less abrupt now. The uppipe cat imposes a limit on the maximum EGT that is safe to run, this in turn requires the fueling to be rich at higher boost. (if you melt the pre turbo cat, the turbo eats cat at 120,000 rpm) The uppipe and downpipe cats cost approx 20-30bhp and similar torque. Andy
  3. << well done andy, very impressive. is the car road legal... that would be a laugh!! >> Yes it is I drove it 300 miles to Bruntingthorpe just 2 weeks ago before running 199.4mph and then setting off home again Andy
  4. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mantasport/ma...andy-207mph.AVI Thats us just home after a wee celebratory drink with Jon and Dee from Scoobymag who set the day up for us with Straightliners  Full report in a coming issue ! It was a bit of a wild ride in comparison to the 199 mph run a few weeks ago, this time we had the drag tyres on to increase the effective gearing. Problem is that they are only 15" rims with very tall sidewalls. The walls are also very soft in order to wrinkle up during a drag launch......this is not what you want at this speed ! It was my 3rd and final run before I summoned the guts (nuts?) to keep the foot planted when it got twitchy as I changed into 5th at 165mph. 0 to 210mph in 30 seconds Interestingly, from the datalogs it was still accelerating at 1mph per second as I crossed the line ! Running further up the track was out of the question though as I needed all the room I had to stop it, the 15" rims only allow my 2 pot brakes up front The usual AP 6pots sitting in the garage gathering dust ! cheers Andy
  5. It was over 1.4 miles, the car was still accelerating as it passed the timing beams. It was running 7560 rpm at 199.4 on my custom gearing set. The limiter is at 8400 although power starts to tail off from 8000 onwards.....unless I hit the nos button..... in which case it just keeps going I didn't use the nos for this top speed run although with hindsight a little 'jag' would have been order of the day I think Andy
  6. Here is my favourite vid , not my car but Mark doing an early run, my wife came back to the start line after taking this vid and told me "don't do it" !! Andy http://www.zippyvideos.com/2652269931260106/190/*andyf

  8. I usually live in the Scottish forum but thought I'd also post on here to see if anyone is aware of the current world record for top speed on an Impreza ? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Today we had a Scoob v EVO shootout at Bruntingthorpe proving ground. It proved one thing, Scoobs are faster and more reliable than EVO's Or at least they certainly were today. I ran 197mph then 198mph next run, then 199.4mph and we ran out of time to try again ! Now, where can I find that last 0.6 mph Andy (with hindsight, I think dropping off my 11 stone passenger may just have done it !)

  10. Hi Dipsy Steve and Stuart at SW racing have indeed helped me with the car recently. Initially I pulled together the spec and built the engine myself last year. Recently when I gave the engine a spec update, Steve stripped and reassembled the bottom end whilst I rebuilt the heads with the new cams and high rpm valve gear. All 3 of us had an input to the new custom inlet manifold. Initially I designed it, Steve done most of the fabrication and Stuart done all the alloy welding. Stuart also welded up my new FMIC end tanks and connecting pipework. If anyone needs some specialist machining or fabrication work the these are the guys to speak to. These are the ONLY guys I have ever entrusted to work on my car, what more can I say ! Andy
  11. Knock control on the pre 98 ECU's is somewhat suspect, whether chipped or not. The Power FC can be set to flash the check engine light to warn of any knock taking place, saves buying a knocklink ! Another thing to consider is the residual value of an Apexi Power FC which is a complete replacement ECU. Typically they still sell for £400+ secondhand. Andy
  12. Just to clarify a few areas where a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing "It doesn't matter which gear you use on these dynos." >>>It does if the ECU has been mapped with gear dependant boost and wastegate control, optimised on the road for a dynamic ramp rate completely different to the rollers. "Ask Dasktek UK if you want confirmation on that." >>>I have discussed this with Gerry, I'm sure he is aware of it. "Your car was making it's boost targets in 3rd." >>> Interesting, what was the target I mapped in for 3rd gear ? "The advance multipliers on your car were checked and were still at maximum." >>> This means nothing in this context and should only ever be considered as a long term indicator, short term knock correction can be massive without altering the AM "The dyno is Dastek, thus the fans and every other facet are Dastek, so identical to Dastek UK in Dalgety Bay. Indeed using your own charge temp gauge the start temp was only 18 C in Aberdeen and you said it was 24 C at Dastek UK." >>> The operation however can change the final figure as most operators are aware. The car in question was tuned for road performance, not to be a dyno queen however I appreciate the frustration that can be created when different readings are achieved. More info on dynos and some reasons for different readings...... for those still reading - Rolling Roads Andy
  13. Wrong forum I know but I have a few scoob launch vid clips that I was hoping to make into an animated gif for my profile. I've researched how to do this but gave up when it got me in too deep Anyone good at this sort of thing ?? cheers Andy

  15. Maybe 1st in Scotland ? Or at least 1st proven, there are a few others similar spec I have done but have never been on a set of rollers. cheers Andy
  16. OK OK it was "Max Power" and also "Fast Car" Well, I was just a lad back then My Crail time of 9.81@147.5 would be good John Andy
  17. lol@Alan I can't change my profile, I just get an odd error message ? Anyway, i'd just be guessing what it can really do Andy
  18. This was a run without the nos, first warm up run of the day to put some heat in the transmission before 'going for it' Lots of wheelspin off the line on the cold tyres. Unfortunately I fried the clutch on the next "full bore" launch after I let the tyres down a bit to try and stop the wheelspin off the line. A 12 hr roundtrip for one competitive run ! Still, at 9.82 @ 144mph it's a new UK record for no Nitrous, beating the previous totb with-Nitrous record cheers Andy
  19. Nice one mate Andy - just off for a 6hr drive to Santa Pod to see what I can break !......must be mad
  20. Thanks Guys/Girls, it really was an excellent day with 6 runs in the 9's Best time was 9.81 secs at 147.5 mph In the final I somehow got the box stuck in 2nd gear until I was on the return road back round when it came out again ok ! cheers Andy
  21. Dipsy I said YOUR map is safe to 21 psi, I have no idea regards WRX 35's map. Andy
  22. Hi Hepy Can you drop me an Email please, I don't have a note of your email addy cheers Andy ps, Glad you are enjoying it Dipsy
  23. Excuse me if this has been linked to already, but here is an in-car video of my one and only run at totb4. My scoob thrashed The picture at the bottom of the post is the pre run burnout in the video. This was a 10.4 @140mph, no nitrous run, it has run 10.1 @ 140mph when I do a better job of controlling the wheelspin ! For reference the tall gearing/tyres on this car allows 60mph in 1st, 98mph in 2nd , 128 mph in 3rd and 160mph in 4th
  24. Hope to have another centre diff in my car for Sunday.....then give it hell up the strip Andy PS Cant change my profile as i get this.....
