  1. I think I was out the same session as You Craig ? If it was then you were going well in my opinion
  2. Eventually made it home with my car, rear diff howling like an old double decker bus (if any of you are old enough to recall that ) Had fun while it lasted though
  3. It is a really smart looking wagon, amazing the difference a few subtle mods can make to the looks
  4. Possibly fuel related but also check the small pipe that goes to the fuel pressure reg, this pipe is not clipped on and has been known to slip off causing lean running. Try emptying that tank of fuel then fill up somewhere else. Then disconnect the battery for 15 mins to erase any incorrect ECU learning that may have taken place. Best get the CEL checked out first though, that should point you in the right direction. Andy
  5. If this was done after you fixed the fault then it will be fine
  6. John I'd recommend disconnecting the battery for 15 mins to erase/reset the learning history. If there has been an air leak into the plenum then the ECU will adjust the fuel supply to suit and this will be extrapolated into the open loop fuel zones. This means it could run too lean or too rich at full chat until you reset it. Andy.
  7. I've got the same filter on my (very similar ) car. Fits ok but I did make a custom pipe up in order to get the filter turned slightly to get clearance. Andy
  8. Can be the early signs of headgasket failure in my experience, the combustion gasses in the coolant cause an airlock. Don't rely on your temp gauge it moves about 1mm between 85 and 115 degrees C also the temp sensor is in the alloy xpipe which is the first place to get starved of water. Andy
  9. With the Simtek you can have 2 full maps, this includes the fuel maps, ignition maps, wastegate and boost maps. Anti lag and launch control can also be set up independantly to suit either map. This means you can have your 2 maps simply for high/low boost like the Ecutek system or different uses ie road/track or even to suit different fuels ie 95 ron for trundling to work and 99+booster or a race fuel mix for weekend fun ! Andy
  10. I did read one roadtest that said it does have slightly unequal length headers and there is indeed a hint of burble on the diesel. Its a bit ironic however that Subaru build an engine that 'should' knock and its apparently whisper quiet, meanwhile on the petrol version.....
  11. Dunc, mind that Dingbro van that passed us at 100mph, that would either be Frank or Gus
  12. Nice one, I presume it didn't use any water when not on boost ? Make sure it gets the proper multi layer steel gaskets this time Don't skim the heads unless they are warped, mild porting will be fine though.
  13. Just to clarify, it was the coolant temperature that was rising more than it should everytime we went on full boost, a typical sign of a head gasket starting to go. Andy
  14. lol, it takes John a few seasons to clock up 30 laps
  15. I was there with the Spec C, it was quite quiet for a H/H day, track was mainly dry, I fair enjoyed masell 2 blue newage and a green wagon were out although I think the quickest thing I passed was a red RS turbo with a 4" front exit flaming exhaust ?? Just done around 30 laps in the morning and was back home for 1:30
  16. You will always use more fuel in colder weather if you have a number of cold starts included in that tankfull ? The shorter the run you do daily the bigger influence that will have as the car is running on the richer warm up settings. Other things that can influence it would be tyre pressure, different tyre size (knocking out miles calculation) compression ratio ? The WRX runs higher compression than the Sti as std but your new bottom end may be lower compression Sti type pistons ? VTA dump valve, I forget what type you have ? Higher viscosity engine oil, changing from say a 0-40 or the watery main dealer stuff to something like 10-60 will also make a noticeable difference. Just a few to be thinking about ! Andy
  17. £50+£5 dely +vat outright, no need to send me yours as I have bucket loads from 18/20g conversions. Andy
  18. For the most delightful Christmas hamper but despite my detective work I still have no idea who sent it to my garage and therefore who to thank ??? The only clue i have is that it was sent from a store in Glasgow Andy
  19. There are many different Cometics out there and some are fine, others are not so good, I'm currently using OE 2.5 gaskets on my race car if you are in any doubt as to their capability ! I can run your anti lag on boost as long as you fit inconel exhaust valves and a WRC type turbo, the latter is circa £10-15k ! Not sure which cams would suit your car to be honest, not many AVCS cars running aftermarket cams at the moment. You don't want to go too wild as you can lose torque, the 264's should work fine http://www.camshaftshop.com/catalogue/547/...199-b-camshaft/ as I can optimise intake cam timing via the ECU. Verniers are not so critical on AVCS cars
  20. Hi Peter I have used cams from these guys for a few years now. http://www.camshaftshop.com/camshafts/view...ubaru-camshaft/ They are new cams, not regrinds. Head porting is not so critical, speak to Steve W as he can do that for you including setting up valve lash. The way we run your anti-lag on overrun only and not positive boost, the std valves should be fine. The original type of gaskets you used will also be fine however the cometics are only slightly more expensive if you want to use them. cheers Andy
  21. Some typical potential bhp levels here Tuning levels
  22. No hedges on that bit Steve, just a fence I wasn't quite sure which one you were aiming for :biggrinsanta: That R/H pedal needs a bit respect now cheers Andy
  23. Can you resend the email/PM as I'm up to date with replys at the moment so may have missed it. cheers Andy
