  1. Get yourself "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson. Taught me everything I know!
  2. I might wait for the inevitable sale! Have you tried it?
  3. Welsho - you are absolutely bang on about iTunes (the PC/Mac app, not the store). For a product to be so mature yet still be so useless is quite shocking. If there's one thing Apple are then it's perfectionists so how this has slipped through the net baffles me. Maybe iPhone 4.0 and the next version of iTunes will resolve it. Personally - I have all my mail and contacts and calendars "in the cloud" anyway so didn't need to go through the trouble with that, so I purely use iTunes for managing music/video/apps for the phone. I was quite fortunate to have a nicely organised music library (outside of iTunes) before I got my iPhone and all I've needed to do since then was remember to add new albums in to iTunes. New app time - Football Manager 2010 out. I was an old school player of Champ manager before the great CM/FM split ocurred. Very tempted to get this, but it is £6.99.
  4. Lovely Top Secret rims. Mmmmm.
  5. Planning to be at Doune on Saturday. Off to London village on Sunday or would have probably done both days or maybe went up to the SMRC. This is the best event of the year at Doune photography wise if the weather is clear. The trees haven't filled out as much so you can shoot just about anywhere without cranking the ISO to unusable levels. Later in the year when the trees fill out the track gets a bit darker, and as the British guys come up for those events - it pours.
  6. Android is a great os. It's just a shame that google are so poor at keeping it in order. It's barely a year old and you can buy phones with 4 different versions of the os. They should have learned from the winmo debacle.
  7. It's JAC. I see he's de-winged for the season.
  8. Yellow bugeye, white classic, silver classic spring to mind - anyone? I was in the missus' Yaris so you wouldn't have seen me probably.
  9. Cracking day for Kames today. First one I've missed in ages. dtrabbit - think you need to turn the exposure down on your first couple. They're cracking pictures that just need a tweak.
  10. Davie, I remember Andy talking about having used this place - http://www.camerabase.demon.co.uk/repairs.html - and being impressed. Jessops on Sauchiehall street do have Canon specialists in house, maybe they could repair too? Oh and google shows this lot - http://www.ajjohnstone.co.uk/ It's absolutely worth getting it serviced.
  11. If any of you are using the various online leaderboard things then I'm StephenHynds on crystal (angry birds), openfeint (loads!) and I think plus+ too.
  12. I meant to say that Strut brace - I have one on mine and it's not helped as you would see!
  13. Much, much, much too long. 5-20 (the one that looks like London bridge) was the hardest one by miles. There was a few others that took a bit of luck, but most of them once you finally have the "ah-ha" moment they're fairly straightforward. All episodes, all levels. 5 worlds of 21 levels each, all 3 starred.
  14. In 5 and a bit years I've had 4 windscreens including the one that came with the car.
  15. Granted in the snow or rain I'd not be pushing as hard in a RWD car, but in the dry they are both outstanding cars round bends. That's a ridiculous statement to make.
  16. Don't a lot of Aftermarket bits say for "competiton or show use only" or similar? Gets round the company offering them being sued senseless when you're pulled by the police for having an illegally specced car.
  17. Could offer Nochex too maybe? I used them many years ago before paypal was the monopoly.
  18. ScotTraffic is good. Got half way through building something similar myself before I noticed someone else had Freebies I use and recommend: Facebook Weather Channel Skype (great if you're on a smaller contract or running out of mintues and have a free wifi connection available) Shazam (is this still free, maybe not anymore?) eBay Last.FM Sky Sports football scores Vouchercloud (savy shopping tastic!) Springpad or Evernote, haven't decided what one I'm going to keep yet Flixster for film times Gorillacam - better camera app than the built in one Sky+ Urbanspoon for food reviews Paid apps that I think are worth it. Apps first, games second: Tweetie 2 - best twitter client if you're into that sort of thing NetNewsWire Premium - RSS reader, also available in free variety, but I love it enough to pay for it. National Rail - not cheap, but their website is crap now and this app works perfect. Games: Flight Control Angry Birds (3 stars on all levels finally last night) Homerun battle 3D Peggle and tonnes more, but those are my all time favourites
  19. Really sad news that. Have to wonder why the trip wasn't cancelled given the weather Few people here at work had 4+ hour journeys home last night as trains to fife from Edinburgh were suspended. I seem to have got the last train west on my route as the east coast line was shut later on, and still is I think. Had to get the scotrail service this morning - it was really strange because in Motherwell it was snowing but there was none lying, but by the time we were through Wishaw and onto Carluke it was near blizzard conditions. I think there was probably a good 6 inches lying in Carstairs station.
  20. Saw plenty of it lying out Carstairs way from the train window. It's re-god-damn-diculous.
  21. Give Hennessey their due - they really know how to build something with a big old engine in it. Watched a video of their Caddy CTSV doing a quarter mile run last week. The launch was so fierce that the car phoned GM to report it - and so someone phones back to the car to ensure the passengers are alright.
  22. http://www.autoblog.com/2010/03/29/the-win...dan-ahead-of-n/ New STI getting a bigger wing?
  23. Sounds like someone profiteering to me.
  24. I've got an HP in the office which is quite a nice wee box. Well put together and quiet as a mouse for the most part. It's got a 2.5" hard drive though and .... well I just don't trust them not to die quickly in daily use. Time will tell though!
  25. Dells are easy to upgrade now. Done a few things on mine before it was even switched on. Used to use Overclockers back in the day but haven't done much recently. I gave up building my own or buying barebones ones. The thing I like with the mass produced ones is that they tend to have quite well engineered cases and power supplies that don't generate a lot of noise. When I bought my current machine it was the first time (in 15+ years too) that I'd actually bought an "off the shelf" model. I couldn't be bothered with the hassle any more and I don't regret it one bit. At the time I specced up a custom build one and it worked out more expensive. Okay the components might have been better quality, but I'm going to chuck it all out after I've had it 3 years anyway.
