  1. Hear what your saying Dave, but going back to your earlier post, I'm thinking your right about it maybe being an uphill struggle in the next few years. Getting a newer one doesn't necessarily mean Im going to drive it more than the classic, but the option to have the use of it over the winter time is more appealing. The classic hasn't seen a winter for at least four years, thats certainly helped to keep it in such good condition. At the moment I swaying towards getting the small marks on the roof seen to and get the front bumper resprayed and use it as a show and shine car and weekend runabout only, this would allow me take the money I would be spending on a newer one and put it towards a nicer 4WD SUV / Family Wagon next year when the Audi is up for renewal. But the question of whats the Classic worth is stuck in my head too.. This sucks.
  2. Went to Autoecosse today to see what they had on offer, choices included a '57 GB270 and also a black '55 Hawk STI. Black Hawk had more miles than the classic, which made Steve the salesman laugh GB270 looked nice, but over budget and I point blank refuse to pay the road tax of four hundred quid. Steve's opinion was to keep hold of the classic, which kinda got me thinking, should I retire the car, stick it in storage and keep it as a show car only. On another point, looking to replace the Mrs's Audi with something thats 4wd, Diesel WRX Hatch anyone.....
  3. Did you see this one ?
  4. Thats what my heart says, however my sensible head says change to a newer version so I can run it all year round. Felt like a bit of a idiot for keeping it off the road over winter especially when I couldn't get up our street in the snow even though I had a perfectly capable scoob in the garage. Went out with a mate for a few pints last night, came home and had the advert written up for Pistonheads but didn't submit it... dunno, still not sure what to do.
  5. Something like this -Litchfield would be nice, sadly its outside of my budget.
  6. Did notice that today, however its mileage is higher than the classic... also noticed a GB270 on the website... maybe, hadn't given it much thought since last time you mentioned it, this caught me eye though...autotrader
  7. Based on what Ive been looking at on Autotrader/Pistonheads I would need to be adding another 4k on top of selling the classic. Found a WRX Hawkeye very close to me that has had a lot of extra already added, Tein coilover adjustable suspension, 18" Prodrive PFF7 alloys and Godspeed brakes, STI rear spoiler and some other bits and pieces. High road tax though I think.
  8. Mrs and I are due our 1st child in November, so should I upgrade to something newer whilst Ive got the chance or stick with the classic for another couple of years til our finances recover ? Been mulling this over for a few weeks now, and I just cant decide what to do. Selling the classic and not replacing it with another scoob is out of the question though.
  9. Nice wee write up about it in today press and journal supplement, p4.
  10. Great day, luckily the rain wasnt too heavy and it certainly didnt dampen spirits too much. Got round to sorting out some pics, mostly track action after lunch when the weather was a bit better and the head to head track action started. Some assorted pics below, with more on my flickr account. More on flickr
  11. Well, I ended up going back to Admiral but got a new quote online instead of taking the renewal quote. After a bit of playing about with excesses and adding the mrs to the scoob I managed to get £660 for both cars. Still a bit of a pisser though as the online quote was only £600 but it had cocked up by applying my ncb to both cars instead of to the scoob only, still I cant complain, £660 compared to the original £920.
  12. no worries.
  13. You've got email mate.
  14. Had a quick blast at it for you, albeit looking more yellow than the green your looking for, I don't have upload facilities at work, so PM me with email address and I will send it on.
  15. I was also at RA on saturday for a service and MOT, 1st time there and certainly wont be the last. Andy and guys couldn't have been more helpful.
  16. cool cool, we were discussing this at the last Tayside meet.
  17. cheeky bugger !! You should be getting charged more from your insurance company, purely cos your scoob hasnt seen a bucket and a sponge in a long long time... Admiral multicar for the scoob is something like £430, the rest is for the Audi, £300.
  18. Aye, its not looking too good with insurance prices right now, I noticed lots of people commenting on here about it earlier in the year but just put it to the back of my mind. Is Keith Michaels any good for limited mileage scoob insurance ? Heard its a bit of a pain to get hold of em though. June is MOT and servicing time for me also, Mrs aint gonna be pleased !!
  19. Just got the renewal quote from Admiral for the Audi and Scoob, almost up at 1k for both for the year Just did a requote online with them and it came down to £730, still a bit steep to be honest. Could anybody recommend anyone else, I thought around £600 for both for the year is slightly more realistic. I also wondered if there was anybody who did good limited mileage quotes for the scoob, almost been a year since I got it and haven't even done 3k in it, plus its garaged in the winter so that must surely count for something in the insurance world?? Chris.
  20. Did you stuff arrive then ?? Hope it did. nothing like showing the rest of the community how rubbish there service is, wont help their business much.
  21. Used my new DSLR today for the 1st time on stage 1 of Granite City Rally. Managed to find a great location and took about 110 pics and have uploaded the decents ones of onto my Flickr account. There was quite a few runners, 55 in total I think with a good selection of cars ranging from old skool Escorts,Evos, a heap of Scoobies and a couple of Metro 6R4's. Various pics below are the ones that I thought were decent enough to share, feel free to click through to the other ones to see em all. 22. I always laugh when I see adverts like that, maybe its the speeling
  23. Did the rally experience a few years back, when they still used the all Ford RWD Sierras, looks like they have extended the course since then. Think it was about £115 then for 3 drives and an extra one with the instructor. £175 is rather steep now. Still looks good fun mate.
  24. For larger blobs of Tar I like to use some Tardis 1st. Like others have said the meguiars kit is a good place to start. Plenty of lube and whatever you do dont drop the clay bar, if you do its buggered - straight into the bin so best to snap off a wee chunk at the start and take a new bit off the bar once it gets dirty looking. Have a look here - Step by Step Guide - How to Clay Your Paint Safely and Effectively
  25. just saw the thread on pistonheads, nearly spat my lunch over the computer screen
