  1. Cool Ali, thanks for that. So if it doesnt move at one garage, try shifting it to their other one, sneeky... different folk passing I suppose. Small world eh. Cheers Chris.
  2. How long ago was that, when you looked at it? Im wondering if it has been sitting for a while or if its recent buy for the garage. I missed one that looked exactly the same which was advertised in the P&J, same mileage, year, same amount of owners, even the pic looked the same. Wonder if he bought it cheap and is trying to make a quick buck by passing it through the garage? Those that drive past, can you remember seeing it there before last week?? Nice place Hatton of Fintry, I used to spend my summers there when I was like 12/13 - used to go shooting rabbits behind my aunt farm with a guy called Cameron Spence who lived up behind it and his mate, John who lived down in Hatton itself. Had some cracking times. Chris.
  3. Thanks John, will be much appreciated. Will be due you a Re the hillclimb, I used to go and watch, my aunties old farm was at the top of the big hill before you go down toward Hatton, me and some of the local lads I met used to wander over the fields and come out at the final hairpin turn to watch. Ahh.... those were the days. lol
  4. Do they still do the Fintry Hill Climb? I remember going along to it when I stayed at my aunties farm which was pretty much opposite the track when I was alot younger. PM'd you back John, although Im not 100% positive that it went as my works computer froze on me. Let me know if you did get it.
  5. Link here mate If either of you could have a look, that would be great. Mileage and price seem spot on but the pics dont give much away in regards to the bodywork condition. Cheers Chris.
  6. Fintry garage has a standard classic, has anybody bought anything from them or seen the car on the passing by chance? Im in Aberdeen everyday, but as I commute by train I cant get out to have a proper look until the end of the month, so if anybody has seen it and think its worth a look I would be grateful of a shout. Cheers
  7. Cheers for that mate, its good to know. At the moment I have decided to target getting myself a classic, but their blob prices seem very good, so maybe look at them again in the future.
  8. I'd say it depends on how long your prepared to wait for a private buyer with the spec it currently has and the hassle/work and cost of having to remove everything and replace it with the OEM parts. I thought it was awesome and nearly bit your hand off after the test drive, I couldnt believe not only how quick it went but the actual overall condition of the car. However as I mentioned when we met, I didnt want to blow all my cash on the 1st Impreza I saw. My heart said buy it but my sensible head thought my wife would kill me, as it turned out I pretended to her indoors that I gave you a deposit and she didnt speak to me for the rest of the evening and the following day. In the end she asked me to wait a couple of months, although I dont expect it will be still for sale then if your considering stripping it. Also was great meeting you Grant, btw your car was in much better nick than the STi I trailed all the way upto Aberdeen to look at, condition of the bodywork was Chris. Also, if anyone is interested in seeing what this car would like with some nicer alloys, let me know - I will put up the photoshop of it with Gold Tarmacs, which IMO made it look awesome.
  9. Replied mate.
  10. Tempting Grant, just looked at the pics in the for sale section for this, looks rather tasty esp in that colour with that spec and mileage. You wouldnt happen to have some alternate alloys for it?
  11. yeah the p1 is 10 years old, which means finding a minter might be a long process, and whilst Im going to take my time finding the right car, searching for a nice p1 will no doubt take longer, and I dont think I can wait that long.
  12. Option 2 and 3 will be weekend use only, whereas the mrs would need the hatch in option 1 to commute to her work each day. p1 is actually my fav at the moment, and there is a rather tasty one on p1woc thats caught my eye, already modded and recently had a rebuilt.
  13. At last I may be realising my dream of Subaru ownership thanks to me landing a new job in Aberdeen. At the moment Im looking around at my options : Option 1: Ditch the Golf I currently have in favour of a Newish WRX-S Hatch, (Tasty one at Iain Grieves in white) as I will be commuting by train to my new job, it would keep the mileage on the scoob nice and low, plus it would have the advantage of a warranty which will keep the mrs happy and I can stick the dog in the boot. Option 2: Keep the Golf, mrs would use it for commuting and it would be used for longer journeys since its a diesel, buy me a blob STI around the 11k mark as I originally intended to do a few months back. Option 3: Keep the Golf as above but go for a cheaper Classic, most likely a p1 around the 9.5k mark, although Im not sure as I've heard a few horror stories that the engines let go at around 55k?? Bring on the burble !!! Chris
  14. Edzell airfield ?? That would be a great venue if you could get it, they did some 1/4 shootouts there before, basically the guys from Crail came up and hosted a fortnightly event. Dunno whatever happened to it though, numbers were good as there was always plenty of peeps from Aberdeen etc that came down. IMO it was a better event than crail, wasnt full of bumps and holes.
  15. One of my mates just bought a RS, 28k. Now he is thinking about the manufacturers remap, 2k. So all in all, he spends 30k and walks away with 360bhp. I think I would rather follow in his footsteps not that I can afford one either.
  16. Have extended my search to include mileage upto 60k, not sure if I would be comfortable to go above that... but within that range Ive openned up a heap of possibilities- mostly early blobs 2003, but still some cracking motors.
  17. Im guessing it would maybe be slightly higher, but the 6.5k was based on what I did last year before I punted the Focus we had at the time. Want to drive it not just pamper it.
  18. Ive got the 2k, can I £47995 on tick? Say buy now, pay when Im 65. Seriously though, thats one hell of a price tag.
  19. Approx 6.5k a year I reckon as I already have the diesel Golf for longer journeys.
  20. Yeah I know what you mean, think I might be a bit more tempted to do a higher mileage car but only from an official dealer, least that way I would get some sort of decent warranty rather than chancing my luck on a private sale.
  21. Reason for asking is Nice looking Spec D on the Subaru Website, £11k mileage at 61k. Just think Im maybe being a bit of a snob and missing out on a mint car.
  22. Looking around again at prices and mileages of Blob STi's. Currently my max mileage is set at 40k on the old Autotrader search, so Im possibly missing out on a bargain but what peoples opinions on buying higher mileage STis ? All opinions welcome. Chris.
  23. If you dont fancy paying PB prices for a lance attachment, and have a karcher, try looking up mervs77 on ebay. I recently bought one and it does exactly the same job but at half the price. Still needed to buy the shampoo from Rich at PB though.
  24. Black always looks nice once its polished up and all clean. Liking it with wheels, very nice mate.
  25. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1546843.htm Does this belong to anybody on here ?? Worth a look perhaps?
