  1. The seals are fairly easy to replace once its all apart, the rubber gaiter that protects the piston is probabley what is shot, causing water to get into the piston hence causing corrision on the polished piston causing it to stick. heres how I did it to both 4 pots and brembos. take the caliper off and drain all fluid. Using compressed air blow all your pistons fully out you will see which ones are corroded and need a polish with whatever you choose to do it with. Its easier to clamp 3 pistons and blow them one at a time if they are sticking. Your seals will no doubt be okay so you wont have to strip the caliper and replace them, just the rubber gaiter that covers them as they push in and out. the gaiter goes back on the same way as they come off. I found a bluntened small screwdriver good to tuck the gaiter retaining lip back under again to hold it all in place. there is a varied train of though on lubricating the pistons. I used copper slip, some others use all sorts of strange stuff. Piston seal kit is about 20 earth pounds. Hope this helps. Callum
  2. The man you need to PM is the squirrel. He has all the technobabble on RAs that you ever want to know. I own a 95 STI RA and could bore you to death all day. Squirrels the man. Grant, sort this man out please!!! Cheers Callum W

  5. "Mr van man, you come right out of a comic book!!" Name the film that line was stolen and altered from and you have won a watch. Thanks to the BBQ squad for giving me my tea. Thanks to imy for my choccy trifle Thanks to Satan and Jhonny for allowing me a glimps of the oppositions preformance Thanks to Alan G for showing me the car books should be written about. And thanks to the weather for being so bloody cold. Callum W
  6. Havent seen good old Walter for a while so I just thought I would post a picture of him about to take 2 mins off the Pikes Peaks record, straight off the plane, never seen a map or the course before in his puff. Ari Vatanen studied the course for a year and used Walters in Car footage to train for this, and only took 1 second off his time. When given the Prize Ari said " This is Walters mountain not mine." Thats sportsmanship.
  7. (Chef from southpark voice) "Hmmmmm, ive got a sneakin suspicion, that someone has those mommas cookin already!!!" Welcome to ELJFWC. Now change the paper in the bottom of the cage, theres a good chap.

  9. Thats me and the millenium falcon booked on, providing that the diet its on is complete Callum
  10. Thanks for the nice comments, the car was going extremely well. 12 months well spent. Ive learnt more in this time than in any other subaru period. The flames are amazing. You can see they are not just a flamer kit. The good old kumos that have lasted 3 years are now well and truely shot. Mind you it was worth it to be able to have the pleasure of steering the car on the throttle. Callum
  11. Progrip it is, but if he gets gallus, ill wrestle him to the floor..............
  12. Can anyone recommend someone who will not roll around the garage floor with me when I tell them the geometry set up I want, in the Stirling area. I used a place in Edinburgh for a while but the guy would argue with me when I told him the camber I wanted dialled in and toe in I wanted, so im not going back. Cheers Callum
  13. UGC, work it right up ye.
  14. Wasnt aimed at you John, just a passing comment. I do not profess to know everything and frequently am put right on subaru matters by those who know more than myself, but what does pee me off is people who couldnt put a nut in a monkeys mouth passing judgement like they are holding court for the subaru Gods. Im glad my time online is limited at the moment, the stench is killing me. Callum W
  15. Its always the same. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Its the same when people go AWD bashing, or BHP development bashing, or Wallace bashing, the list goes on and on. Its like the old army saying "No one remembers you by the last good thing you did, they remember you by your last f**k up" This is the same old story. I like Greers, Im sorry that boy had a bad experience, etc etc, but its not going to stop me from using that garage. Like wise if I lived in Perth I would probabley use AWD, despite the negative things people have to say, Im quite sure if the Greers had actually realised what had happened they would have been mortified. Unless you actually tell someone what has gone on and how it has affected you then it just sits and festers. Sad, but it wont stop me using thier services. Callum W
  16. Settle petal, I was only asking [] Well, I was only telling you.

  18. Al, I dont have internet access atm because Im moving house and living with my Bro until I get the house keys next friday. Ive posted a few figures on the general RB Relay thread. The figure at the moment is £15 000 with cheques still coming in. I havent counted the Just give sight either, thats still running. Towards the end of July I shall do the publicity thing with cancer research and will probably ask for a large gathering subarus for the publicity shots. Im just giving people who pledged money or are still fundraising a bit of breathing space to get the cash converted to cheques and send them in. Im confident that we will see over £16 000. The relay is far from a distant memory, take it from me. Its just a bit hard to bombard you with information when my brother lives in the stoneage and doesnt have a computer and Im up the hills with D of E award scheme lunatics. Or would you rather that I posted up that I had run away with with the money and retired on Benbecula?? (Chuckle) Read Jap Tuner Next month, Watch Fifth Gear in the future, and tell me if its a distant memory? Keep you stickers on your car because we will have a meet to hand over the huge cheque and look happy. Im sorry if I havent been able to keep you as posted as I would have liked. Callum
  19. Ah, so its all out in the wash then. Thank goodness, all the cloak and dagger stuff was wearing me down. lol. UGC.

  21. Gus, Im so sad to hear of your loss, but glad that what the club did made her happy before she moved on to a better place. Your family are in my thoughts and prayers, as you said celebrate her life, not mourn the loss. Kindest Regards Callum
