  1. Time to get this kicked off again. Not to much has physically happened with the car, however we've been working away in the background, buying better bits, planning next year. I'll finally get the brakes the way they were intended to be this year by ditching the servo and Subaru master cylinder in favour of a Comp Brake bias box and AP cylinders cortesy of AS performance, hydraulic handbrake will go in too, as well as new front disks to replace the existing Brembos.
  2. Aye, but one complete cycle for you follows Leap Years !!!!
  3. you don't need the handbrake on when in the air
  4. Shirly some Aberdonian will buy L555 BAA
  5. Yes they are the same tyre. There are softness options on a couple of sizes. Kumho website is sh!te, couple of years out of date re compounds
  6. Tell you what Greig, if you fit a UK box to the car, I'll remove your DCCD centre and fit it to it if you'll come to me.
  7. Yay ! The penny drops. Greig it's not so much the UK box it's 3.9 diff in the front will allow you to keep your plated rear diff from the RA rather than compromise and install the crap viscous unit that's in your spare 4.11 ---john---
  8. You're not getting it yet Greig, the only one you can use... and then best solution is the one in then car
  9. Your spare box and diff will work. The ratios match, so you have a working solution. Wouldn't be my solution.
  10. It's late, lots to do tomorrow, save me some time and point me at them ?
  11. 1. are they E marked ? if not forget it. Never heard of them so suspect not 2. you can run 235/40/17 if you get the numbers right, wheels, offsets and the right coilovers. 3. Toyo's are 5h!t3 for hillclimbs, most people are finished before they start working
  12. Do use the good stuff i.e. 'Fairy liquid' on this kinda thing or are cheaper Store brands acceptable ?
  13. I just try hard not to picture him
  14. Was this pressure at hot idle ? ---john---
  15. No, but you might be able to do that using your spare rear diff, open it and tell me the numbers ---john---
  16. I usually break mine when I get there
  17. The box in your RA is the correct box for the car. Your rear diff is 3.9:1 Yeah Your current cr4ppy ratios suited to a power band of about 2000rpm are RA Spare Box UK Box 1st 3.454 3.454 3.454 2nd 2.333 2.062 1.947 3rd 1.75 1.448 1.366 4rth 1.354 1.088 0.972 5th 0.972 0.825 0.738 FD 3.9 4.11 3.9 Easiest way tell what your spare rear diff is is to remove the rear cover and rotate the diff. You can figure it out without taking it off, but's only eight bolts and it's not in the car. On the crownwheel it'll be stamped either: 39:10 39:11 37:9 40:9 Interestingly your 5th is exactly the same as 4rth on a UK box..... Hmmm nice overdriven 5th for getting to events up north
  18. The use my car see's will be different to yours, I wouldn't recomend running without Fans
  19. It won't be lighter, in fact it'll make the car heavier as it'll take more water. My standard radiator can cool 500+ HP
  20. Why exactly do you feel you need an uprated Rad ? I have a standard one on my car and it does all right as long as the car is moving (I have no fans installed) ---john---
  21. Yes, but with a 3.9 rear diff.
  22. Greig, Arches boxes are mostly 3.9s though he does have a 752 cased gearbox containing a 754 ver UK gear set with 4.11 diffs. The other boxes he has have UK ratios with 3.9 diffs. One of these with your DCCD fitted in the centre would requite a 3.9 crownwheel in the rear diff. I 'think' I have one but would need to check. It may be that you don't need one anyway as that may be what is in your car. So still need the code from either the box or, assuming it's never been changed, the VIN plate also has the details, again it'll be TY752xxVBxxx ---john---
  23. It's likely to be the gearbox rather than the centre diff. If I were you I'd take a step back, your existing ratios are ****e anyway so why not try to find something more suitable. The ratios in an RA box arre there for Homologation purposes, for rally cars with 32mm restrictors. That's why they are so close. Without that restriction you would be far better off with gearing meant for a WRX, or if you plan more power, UK ratios are the daddy for where you are going to use the car. ---john---
  24. Ah, that's more like it, yes, I'd say you have mangled either a gear or your dropgears in the centre diff. Drop the gearbox oil and see if it's full of teeth. To move it disconnect the prop from the rear diff, if it's the drop gears you are good to go. If it's one of the gears you'll need to pop the front driveshafts too. ---john---
  25. I doubt your gea***t would have anything to do with that !!. When you say move, are you driving or pushing, in gear or in neutral ? ---john---
