  1. As Arch has pointed out Front and centre Diffs share the same oil. You are obviously concious of the need for friction modifiers for your rear Plate diff, same applies to the DCCD, it's just an electromechanical Plated diff. I have no experience of Silkoline products, so can't comment on them. However I use Motul 300V for the engine in the race car and Millers CRX LS in the Box and rear diff. My advice to you, if you haven't ordered already is call Alyn at AS performance and he will provide you with the 'best' thing for the job. ---john---
  2. Dale, I wasn't talking to Cath 59'17" 18'3"
  3. It's hardly 'up north' it's only 3 degrees and 20 minutes North of where you are Have a good time
  4. Don, somewhere on the side wall you'll find a compound code. Only on one side of the tyre and very discrete. Characters are about 8-10mm in height and should e K20, K21 or something similar, PM me what you find. ---john---
  5. Worn bushes, knocking things about hitting potholes, duff dampers lots of other things can have changed in 14 months. I can't comment on Hypertechs work, never used them. The reason I first went to john is that it's what he does all day everyday. So who has the experience ? My philosophy has always been, use a specialist for a specialist job
  6. Davie, I have a conundrum here. ^^^^^^^ If you are setting up a competition car, Kenny is the boy. He's helped me for years and I'll be in there in the next week. He will make a smashing job of this , but it'll be done on string gauges so expect the labour to reflect this. ProGrip in Bonnybridge, are who have squared my car for the last four seasons. State of the art gear , as long as you want factory specs, or are prepared to tell John exactly what you do want. Lots of garages can do this, John does it 8 hours a day, hence my choice. An hour will do it and for a road car the better option cost wise. ---john---
  7. Cheers Russ, hopefully I won't cock it up and have to take you up on that ---john---
  8. Hi David, it was 1040 on the Weigh Bridge last time I weighed it, since then, the pad saw has removed 5kg and the front brakes disks alone are 2.8 kg lighter than the Cast Brembo Disk, havent compaired the calipers yet.
  9. Hi Frank, I wouldn't know to be honest !! What's that often quoted term ?............... Oh, Yes............ Speak to your Mapper
  10. I took another 5Kg to the Coup yesterday, so the diet goes on even in my car in its current form Good luck ---john---
  11. Hi Russ, great minds think alike !! (or is it the other option that applies ) S6GP, I'll build a bespoke loom for the car so not really an issue (hopefully) The knock control appears to be the big benefit over other products out there. The Help and Advice from Pat and Charlie have been second to none. It would be a brave man that questioned Pats' technical knowledge. Just need to sort out everthing else that should be under the bonnet and time is marching on......... ---john---
  12. I might still ask for my 'Loaner' back
  13. Been doing a lot of thinking recently and decided the way forward for the car is to replace the MAF based Apexi with something a little more capable. Don't get me wrong the Apexi has been great. Really like the convenience of the Commander as you can diagnose issues and tweek the thing really easily without running around plugging laptops in. Last year I had Simtek firmly in my mind, and still like it, this one ticks all the boxes though. Nice to be spoiled by choice This is what we have chosen. Very impresive wee box. Does everything I could need and backed by some very clever Peeps. I doesn't take a 'Rocket' scientist to figure out who'll be doing the tweeking for me Specs here: http://www.solaris-ecs.com/
  14. Not hard at all as long as you take it out in lots of little bits. If you want it out with a view to replacing then the dash and other bits need to come out. Just tear it up ---john---
  15. Take the carpets up and break off the sound deadening. The 4 floor areas, under the back seat and boot will yeild 10kg (pick the coldest day of the year to do it and it will make a pain in the ass an easy task). The sound proofing mat on the bulkhead will give you another 10 !! ---john---
  16. Boot from an RA is no lighter than any other Impreza, no matter what you've read, the only panel on an RA that is lighter is the bonnet !! ---john---
  17. 1100Kg is pretty easy, mostly about removing bits or fitting the right ones as David has pointed out. You can get a 4dr down to just over 1000Kg, but it's bloody hard work though. ---john---
  18. I think Dave was replying to Dale, re: the plate being familiar.
  19. Forgot to mention the that's because the car is on the trailer
  20. I've always been a bit indifferent about this, the drive there and the drive back have always been similar, car feels much the same, economy similar etc.
  21. I'm sure the new owner will take care of that Alan, Performance Friction. ---john---
  22. What makes you think they'll be used ? The Disks are 2.8kg lighter than the STi Brembos that came off
  23. STi Brembos removed, these bad boys installed in there place
