  1. i like my bc's but quality can be hit and miss from set to set - teins are great quality but too harsh for our roads, reckon il be putting a set of kw's on my car at some point in the next year so if you can save enough id go with that
  2. welcome to the club, sounds like a cracking buy! someone with a machine polisher and a bit of skill should get rid of the discolouration for sweeeties
  3. yea the brembo's are quite a bit thicker and with the dish on your wheels they might touch the spokes without spacers - i actually know someone with AP four pots on their scoob that has to fit the balance weights to the outside edge of the wheels clearance is so tight!!!
  4. early 1994 and i opened a copy of top gear and saw a picture of this fairly ordinary saloon with the maddest front end ever, huge scoop and vented bonnet and great big spotlights in the front bumper, i wanted one instantly! within 6 months one of my dads mates came home with one of the very first uk turbo's in red and i took the day off school to watch a certain Mr Mcrae winning the RAC and world championship with big donuts to celebrate. From that point on it was a case of timekilling until i could afford and insure one - which came in may 2000, 3 months before my 22nd birthday when i hawked everything i had and could own for a brand new deep blue mica uk turbo with gold wheels. amazing, still the best car i ever had and at that point there was still a waiting list for them, people would pull alongside you on the motorway to take pics and everyone would come and ask you about it whenever you stopped. 3 years later and a failed aquaplaning experience it sadly died after rolling through a wall at high speed - i and my other half walked away without a scratch and i went and bought the lowest mileage dbm uk turbo i could find which i ran for another 3 years and 40k miles before finally trading it in for a brand new 05 sti, the first newage i felt handled as well and justified as having enough power braking and handling out of the box to never need modded - oops......
  5. sniff sniff but as said unsurprising - theres no way i could justify buying a brand new one today and 2 of my 3 have been straight out of the showroom, subaru seem so have lost sight of the fact that bang for buck made the original impreza such a hit, in 2000 it cost 1800 more for a uk turbo than a 306 gti6.....
  6. go for the brembo's you wont regret it - especially come fling time!!!
  7. if it has all those options it would have had the mid level spoiler from prodrive too so id keep it!
  8. in that case welcome to you too Stuooby - now do the decent thing and get a pic of your motor up got any pics of your dc5 Jxta?
  9. certainly can - il make sure he has the room closest to the water, very very close to the water in fact.... and can you stick these into the banter thread Barry, time for some housekeeping
  10. so a banjo for Cathy from santa then good call on the red wrap - going to be much easier to find a car, now jdm or uk? so whats everyone going to be up to on a cold miserable saturday night then? (yea i know, im late as usual.....) think il dress up as santa and wander the streets....
  11. seen the gritters out twice now so thats mine definitely living in the garage! i spend most of my time behind the wheel of the works motor just now, l200 on general grabber all terrains - im actively looking for it to snow
  12. Batman costume to sort out the fuel thieves? and shhh Barry its a surprise - and its not kojak themed its Del themed
  13. hiya mate, i know the hard knott pass well used to stay down there - the roads for the fling are pretty similar but nothing as challenging as applecross this year. Still some fantastic pretty deserted roads, amazing scenery (especially if i organise the weather again,...) and the hotel for sat night is lovely (and the bars open late...) Alun think we had 24 cars last year on the actual day, this year numbers are so far at (drum roll please......) 31 cars! wow! cough, Lewis PM me your rates.......
  14. id have won that last year Al lol does look good Matty, never been there myself - you know how it is with places on your doorstep!
  15. not if they follow the right route they wont Lewis..... though you are right, north west is the best - and im not even from there! Inverness is a lovely place, well worth a poke around and some cracking hotels - look up Rocpool Matty
  16. welcome along, big difference between the teg and the scoob - out of the box in the dry teg handles sweeter but a few fairly simple changes can transform the sti, now lock away your credit cards!
  17. I dont think anyone needs a reminder of that one.... My top tip - bubble wrap for your front bumper and prebook autoglass for your return (unless your right at the front )
  18. getting into some sort of drag scene? what do you mean getting into - why do you think its taking so long to do the work, Barry never has a free evening these days......
  19. welcome along, your hooked now and theres no going back sounds to my limited knowledge like the valve is sprung too lightly - could also be needing a good clean. There is a train of thought that says running a vent to atmosphere dump valve on an otherwise standard motor can actually hinder performance - but others more knowledgeable will be along soon!
  20. thanks for reposting that pic Al, no really..... Brian, brilliant advice! - nice beginners guid to Fling'ing
