  6. if you put 'place name' road closure into google youl see a very encouraging report that Del found - looks like it should all be good, now if someone can fix the weather for us.....
  7. yea last post was that he was going for a compression test - only one i saw after that was advertising a set of wheels as he'd sold the car.....
  8. cheers Del and all going to plan we're back in business folks! will keep an eye on progress of the special road and clearing the landslip - if its not going fast enough ive a couple of diggers thatl clear it 'unofficially'
  9. if mods could cut the road numbers and names please but good find Del and if they can stick to that then its happy days folks
  10. all 4 from a dealer will be around 400 i think -last time i checked subaru front pads were 220 ish plus fitting - i went to an independent and paid about 100 for mintex 1144's which were a definite improvement
  11. theres a chance it may be ok it just depends on highland councils timetable, im keeping my fingers crossed but thought id warn people now. really gutted as im looking forward to the beallach but theres enough other roads that itl make up for it - particularly excited for friday and theres now a local tie in point for those coming from aberdeen on the friday..... drop me a goat for details
  12. I thought i should let people know that due to circumstances outwith my control, there may have to be an alteration to this years route which would make it unfeasible to do Applecross. within the last few weeeks and since the planning and booking was done there has been a blockage to an integral part of the route with no available diversion at the moment there is no timescale for the road reopening so all i can do is keep my fingers crossed and plan an alternative route to skye as a backup. make no mistake, the same timeframe, miles and accomadation will all be used and there will be some great driving roads taken in regardless but applecross may have to wait til another year hope you all understand and il keep you posted folks
  13. afraid il be busy playing with my wood all day......
  14. have a feeling it may be a car on .net, certainly seen it somewhere - is this a seek and destroy mission??
  15. as above, its a good day out and to clarify its like an open pit lane - you do your 4 laps then tag on to the end of the queue to go again as many times as you want sure theres someone out there with a blue hatch dying to have a go,eh doctor
  16. number sounds familiar Davie - is it a classic or a newage?
  17. il be lucky if i remember how to start the thing by then kenny, never mind drive it o and kenny
  18. dont think the wrx's have given so much trouble, maybe down to a difference in how theyre driven? but 2.5 sti's are known to be weak - the last person i had this debate with told me how it was thrashed badly modded cars or hatches with the dodgy map that were the only problems, i believe he sold up shortly after that as his standard 3 year old 30k mile hawk sti blew its headgasket under light load...... thats not to say dont buy one but be aware - either get one with warranty or factor in a budget for strengthening/rebuilding if the worst does happen, that way you can have piece of mind and loads of lovely torquey power
  19. He's highly delighted with it and il make sure he keeps it as good as you did Simon hope you make it back to the fold one day il keep an eye out for a landy with an sidc sticker up this way - was actually looking at one myself just along the road in beauly yesterday but think il stick with an l200 for work!
  20. erm, front hubs and discs skimmed good clean up, remember how to drive it and thats about all it needs MAY get an afr gauge, rear anti roll bar and something shiny and noisier if im feeling flush.....
  21. on those pics urban - dont have a shiny one of crystal grey anywhere do you? i reckon both - in a camo pattern
