  1. Some of you guys have very low aspirations. VBH FFS? There is a whole world of people out there and you still pick her? I despair.
  2. A 6 speed has been considered Peter but probably get my 5 speed beefed up instead and save a bit of weight. Talking of weight..... I'll have you know Mr Jdmsti that I'm still a fine figure of a man. It just happens to be the number 8.
  3. Yup, do that instead. Speak to Andyjdmsti and get your wallet out.
  4. Cheers guys. There's some other gucci bits too but that bad boy actually made me stop and wonder if I'd went too far this time. Naaaaaaahhhh! Wilky - that'll be my mantra when it's all buttoned up. I'll leave it to the big boys to chase the top figures as there's always gonna be someone with bigger balls/deeper pockets/more screws loose etc etc. Peter - yes, four inches. But you'll feel all of them. Gonna have to junk all my samcos as they no longer fit now too.
  5. Who knows mate? 500? 550? We'll see soon enough.[]
  6. had one of those "What have I done?" moments? Well, I had one of them ten minutes ago when Playsanta delivered this Looks like lots of fun at Playsatan mansions over the next few weeks.
  7. Cal, see my reply on the other side
  8. Might as well get the quote right Craig........... Anway, the PPP3 (Playsatan Performance Phase 3) has been ordered and should arrive tomorrow. Quarter mile times and my gearbox better look out.
  9. Did you replace your maf to try and cure the problem or because you knew it was duff? When a maf goes it normally takes the lamda with it because of the increased EGT's. That would be my guess anyway.
  10. Does it happen when hot and cold?
  11. Another 100 bhp [H]
  12. Don't want to sound like a total noob but what the address and for what time?
  13. Looks like the was another Subaru fatality last night. Lets be careful out there.
  14. Don't think so Andy, think this is a second one.
  15. The website has been a work in progress for some time. Best to give Bill or Colin a call.
  16. If broquet's (as I now know they are spelled) were the only cause of engine failure that all other Subaru's would never need to worry. What I'm saying is this is a contributing factor to the demise of P1's alone with many other factors. When they were new they lifted the octane levels but they do not last for ever and go off over time. Do you think it is a coincidence that most seem to let go at the same point. As for gimmocks I can't comment but if they're good enough for prodrive.... I also agree there is a lots of myths but this one seems that have it's basis in fact http://bbs.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-general...hlight=broquets Where's Gregor when you need him. Anyway, all of this is taking away from the original question. IMHO, is a remap needed - no. Should I be careful and factor in other considerations - yes.
  17. Oh yes, and there were ecu mods doen but only to add increased knock retardation. Wonder why they did that?
  18. The P1 is quoted at 280 for a number of reason. Firstly there is the Japanese gentlemans agreement. Do you really believe that a r34 makes 276 bhp? Neither do I but that's what they quote because that's all they're allowed to make. By the same taken I think you'll find an sti5 on jap spec fuel will make a bit more than quoted. Secondly the P1's were supplied with fuel brockets (sp?) to increase the octane to near jap levels. This goes some way to explaining why the P1's pop more. An owner may be happy running his P1 on SUL and the brockets are pulling it back into line but when they go off at about 40 - 50k guess what happens? Meanwhile the sti driver has been adding octane booster and if he's switched on monitoring for det.
  19. Maybe so but take my type of car as an example. Sti 5, famed for popping engines ah la P1 folklore. Lets start with the basic first mods by adding a big exhaust, induction kit and now lets chuck on a decat. All of these things will make the car faster but also run leaner on a car thats already running on a lower octane fuel than it's been designed for. Not to mention the fact that when the maf goes, and it will, you'll lean it out even further and join the new engine club. As I said, I did it and I was fine but was that luck or the fact that I took measures to prevent a problem? IMHO opinion a remap probably won't be required but it will depend on the model and other mods.
  20. Don't know the spec or model of your car mate so a bit hard to say. I ran mine with a decat and standard ecu and it was absolutely fine but I did add octane booster and used a knocklink to monitor for det.
  21. Good bunch of lads [Y]
  22. Steve is spot on. You need a recirc valve to replace the VTA. The pipe form the intercooler goes into one side of it and the other feeds to the sair intake. The vacumm pipe connects to it also and tells the valve when to release the pressue. What year of car dictates what type of valve you need. I've got a standard one going spare if you want it, depending on year of course.
  23. Nica idea Cal but I think SIDC members are already easy enough to spot
  24. The wide mouth one is the best and by far the most popular. You should also budget for some exhaust wrap at the same time. Its about £50 - £60 and helps keep the under bonnet temps down and actually makes more power due the scavenging effect and higher flow of the exhaust gasses. I'll be selling mine just after christmas but I have the larger 3" design, is that what you're after?
  25. Does the noise change if you turn the car from left to right. It's very common to get a stone stuck between the disc and the heat shield, even moreso with 2 pots. Very common after track days if you've been on the kitty litter.
