  1. I prefer to think of it as we're both equally right.
  2. Indeed. The written word can be misinterpreted, hence i sought to clarify my position to alleviate any doubts others may have had. [Y] Alan, I was indeed agreeing with you. When I said wrong I was referring to what was wrong with the car, not with your reasoning. However, seeing as you misinterpreted it wrongly you're still worng. Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong wrong. [] BTW, sorry to hear the bad news about the engine. Greer's will sort you out for sure.
  3. If it was still driveable it would suggest something like AlanG suggested was wrong, blown off pipe or something rather than a blown engine. Hopefully nothing too serious
  4. Was there any bangs when it happened? Did the car cut out straight away or did it idle at all after the flames? If so did it sound like a bag of spanners?
  5. Oh yeah, just remembered you'll need a new dump valve as well as your old one won't fit. Almost ashamed to mention but I have one of these for sale too [:$]
  6. Yup, no pipework as Dave says. I did say it was pricey. The £200 one might be fine for your power goals. What are you shooting for?
  7. Frank, I've got a fmic on my99. I've got a Hybrid intercooler. The fit could almost have been designed around the 99 as there was very little cutting to the metalwork to get it on. Some others need you to take a set of tin sips to the inner wing. As for the bumper, most kits will require you to trim a fair amount of plactic off. Quiet a lot of the stuff actually. It's not difficult but it can be time consuming offering it up and checking fit but take your time and it's not too bad. The pimp daddy is the lateral kit. Perefect fit, comes with a new ally raditator and as it doesn't require any bumper cutting it's totally stealthy. Pricey though compared to the others. Induction kit wise I would only advise using an apexi on a my99. They are famous (or is that infamous) for busting maf's and ANY oiled filter will make the chances much worse. Also make sure you secure the filter as vibrations caused by removing the airbox can do the maf's in too. I've got an used apexi one if you're interested let me know. Also if you want to see my setup to see whats involved.
  8. http://www.simonyeates.co.uk/GetDealer.do?...19&pageid=1 First one on the list Conversion I know but I so would.
  9. Funny enough could be doing with some myself. Will get prices and post up to see if anyone's interested.
  10. More like 4.5 or 6.5 if you have a winged sump. I'd buy two 4 ltrs myself. It'll get used at some point, you're next change for example and will be cheaper than buying it in diddy sized bottles.

  12. Yup, if that's what the problem is. Do you know what boost the car is running and have you changed anything recently?
  13. And if he is can I have some? As long as the engine is in good order and regularly serviced it should take 300 without a problem but a turbo upgrade will be required.
  14. Yup, 18G is meant to be the best b road turbo, or one of them at leasr. Slightly less top end but better throttle response. 1. Walbro fuel pump 2. 3-Port Boost solenoid 3. 2.5" or 3" exhaust (i hear 2.5 is better for torque) 4. APS 70mm CAI (Purley for noise) 5. Ported Headers and Custom Upipe 6. REMAP 7. BRAKE UPGRADE 8. Uprated arb, drop links and 4 wheel allignment
  15. Whats your base, the 04 sti?
  16. You think you guys are bad? I've washed my daily driver once this year (March I think). For me washing a car is a weight saving exercise.
  17. From the intercooler towards the turbo inlet.
  18. Apexi good, blitz not so good. It like opening a can of worms really mate. What type of car is it going on and are you still running a maf?
  19. Not a bad idea. Only downside is you'd all see just how messy my garage is. [:$]
  20. Yes Dave, got it from Mark. Thought I better do it now before I lost my bottle or the missus changed her mind. BTW, HUGE thanks for last night. Big help.
  21. I'm done when it comes to rushing things Jon, gonna take my time and do it right this time. Be ready by the start of the season.[]
  22. 1 - If your sidelights won't switch off look for the parking light switch on top of the steering column . 2 - Use the search function on the forum before asking the same old question . 3 - The best first mod for an impreza is the exhaust (backbox at least) 4 - Buy a newage 5 - Make sure you get regular quality oil / filter changes every 3 - 4000 miles 6 - Always run the car on good quality fuel - V Power/BP Ultimate/Tesco 99 and add octane booster for safety in an unremapped import 7 - Avoid "chip"ing an impreza - get it remapped by an expert like Andy Forrest (Apexi for classics, ECUtek for newage) 8 - Sell the Newage and buy a Classic 9 - Always wait till the engine is nice and warm before giving it full pelt and let it cool down befrore switching it off 10 - Upgrade your brakes before modding the engine 11 - A VTA dumpvalve isnt really a good idea unless your car is getting remapped to compensate for it. It will momentarily make your car run rich as the ecu gives fuel for air which has been dumped and not recirculated. All you are missing is the gay noise. 12 - Solid rear droplinks and a decent suspension geometry set-up are probably one of the best sub-£100 modifications you can do to a standard car. 13. new ages will undertseer when at the limit 14. If you have a classic get Strutt Braces. The improvement is outstanding! If you have a new age...no luck! loL! 15. Clean out the boost solenoid once in a while and dont fill engine oil right up to max. 16.Go to the SIDC track days at knockhill, you get free tuition from an instructor if you want (plus ensure you wear Cat boots far better that way!!!!) 17. Love every minute of driving and owning it (it will make handing over the credit card much easier 18. Goto meets/Knockhill/Crail and tell us who you are?We don't bite sometimes 20.Join the SIDC and you'll get discounts on insurance and dealer supplied parts in addition to track days. 19. For some obscure reason there is a lot of mention of goats & homosexuals in here. Do NOT let this put you off our forums. 99% of our members are "normal" but we are all fans of The Hoff. 20. Always prefill the oil filter when doing an oil change
  23. I'm with Brian. I'd rather not have pics in the sigs but a clicky link to one would be fine.
  24. We'll see MwuHaHa [] Looking good, i'd be sorting your gearbox sooner than later. ---john--- An 11 would keep me happy. I've been there and done that when it comes to throwing money at the car and the times don't fall as much as you'd hoped. Mind you I might be able to give a quater mile newbie such as yourself a run for your money [] Alan - yes, the pipework is lush. What can I say, when you're right you're right. 0.82 housing won me over in the end. Keep you phone switched on over the next few weeks as a couple of spanners and a tool are gonna try and make all of this work.
  25. Rereshing honesty from Imy. as for the buttplug comment [:$]
