For my 2 cents I'd say they can be useful. Yes an ecutek will look after you by pulling timing but only by so much. If you were to suffer a fpr/fuel pump/or many other items fail on you you'd be better off knowing there is a problem than not. Mine has saved my engine more than once and would be my first mod before upping the power on any subaru. As for it being just anopther gauge to watch, it doesn't have to be that way.

V ltd's have a few changes above the usual RA's. Yes, they're blue, they also have a longer 5th gear, quick steering rack, blue interior/dash part's, plaque, roof scoop (type r too) and probably some other stuff too. That doesn't really matter though as I'm pretty sure you don't get them on version 2's. Think its just version 5's and maybe 6's too.

I thought it had a few faults that you had to put right Grant, fpr etc? I think you're better to assume the worst as that may well be the case with most of the importers I've seen.

Ah, all becomes clear. For some reason these cars have a habit of doing engines just after oil changes. There is a long procedure to try and help but even then it's a nervous time for any Subaru owner. Ask the garage that did the oil change how they did it. Officially all they're meant to do is prefil the new oil filter but it's also a good idea to disconnect the crank sensor and crank the engine to circulate the oil before firing it up for real. Some people go to extremes and remove the spark plug when cranking it but that's a bit OTT.

Sorry to hear that Ryan. I'll admit it doesn't sound good but no point panicing until you know if it's fubar or not. Out of interest is ther any oil in it?
