  1. Yes Stephen, I've been an exponent of hotukdeals for years now. I was thinking more of car related deals ie group buys on other sites, rare parts that you might not need but someone else may or if you find a cheap supplier somewhere E.g. toyo r888's - by far the cheapest i've found is camskill. 215/45/17's only £112 delivered
  2. Seen this on a few forums so not my own idea but think it would be good to have a hot deals or hot links sticky. It's used to post links to any cracking deals you stumble across. They help the posters as well as the readers as more often than not someone can suggest an even better deal? Anyone used similar before or care to kick us off with a good deal they've spotted?
  3. "black gold" is obviously code for something else. Have fun up there you goat toucher.
  4. Not a dig John, I have them too. Just pointing out that they're best bought when all the other bases have been covered. Especially if you already have gauges.
  5. Memo to John - buy things in this order RAC membership PPG gearbox Fuel Food Defi's
  6. The forum is quieter, there is no doubt about it. I posted as much over a year ago, shortly after the off topic section was added as I'd noticed a drop off in the number of new threads and responses to threads. As I see it the forum will get quieter still. Massively increased running costs will see many current owners sell up and with plummeting values the new owners will be more likely to be less inclined to spend on and mod their cars. Why make a car that is prohibitively expensive to run even more uneconomic and prone to failure? Is this the end of the SIDC though? I think not. What will be left is the hardcore, committed enthusiast. Look at 22b, hardly a massive daily post count their but one of my favorite forums due to the in depth knowledge that can be found there. I've started threads there asking a question and not had any response ti it but I'd be inclined to believe it's because nobody knows the answer, not that people just can't be ar$ed to post up. I'd rather that than a long list if "I don't know but I'm sure someone will" replies. In a nutshell -quality not quantity.
  7. Fronts and backs Stephen? I've got 2 pots rears but believe you may have the singles? If so you may require a wind back tool, any decent garage should have one or you could always borrow mine.
  8. Do you have a boost gauge? If so what is it reading?
  9. Wait a moment, lets wind the clock back 5 months. Isn't that just what I suggested at the time?
  10. Nice one John, did you make him wipe his feet before he got in?
  11. Not a bumboy as such, just a metrosexual.
  12. Nice car mate, aren't they called the Miata in America?
  13. I wouldn't either but it has been done. Obviously it would have to be machined to ensure that balance issues never ensued. John, yes shafts are different but so are the hubs so not just a case of getting a new set.
  14. That's hardcore - respect is due.
  15. John, delete that pronto and PM coulty. I'm fighting the urge to sign you up for some choice spam so imaging what our less restrained member may be doing. Someone in IT should really know better
  16. Sounds like you're in for a fun night It sounds like the best option all things considered and if my experiences are anything to go by the rush jobs always go wrong so playing it safe is defo the best bet.
  17. Drilling is afe and people have done it before with no problems although if you already have the correct one there I'd be inclided to use it. With the diff fitted to the car have you tried undoing the nut by applying the breaks and getting a big breaker bar on it? The one thats off the car, take it to a mates with an airgun?
  18. Put the "new" diff next to your old one, 160's and 180's are different sizes and so it be should be obvious if they're not the same from the outside. Whether they're the same ratio is impossible to tell without either counting the teeth or turning them and counting the revolutions. The flanges can be different but you can swap them over no problem. Just use an airgun to take the big nut off and work the flange off, them tighten with the airgun again. Some people drill out the bolt holes to make them fit and while this is ok I wouldn't bother if you already have one the right size albeit on another diff.
  19. I'm sure common sense will prevail. The aim is to travel at 10 mph less that the limit on the motorway sections. As mentioned that will mean 60mph for the majority of the journey. If we needed to pass a slower moving vehicle I'm sure that people will pick a sensible speed to overtake and not sit next to them for miles like 2 lorries trying to over take each other whilst on the limiters. The main thing is that nobody drives like an idiot. This is a chance to show that subaru drivers can behave responsibly and on an event like this poor driving standards should not be allowed to overshadow the meaning of the day.
  20. Yup. Thats my foot in the picture, just after I took it out of her ar$e.
  21. Quick update for all the females. This is not what you call a flat tyre...... that is what you call a f**ked tyre. And now everyone knows why I was so worried.
  22. I've got to ask, what does the JW340 stand for? I asume that JW is for John Welsh and that 340 is how many bhp it's currentlymaking. If that's right will you not have to update them every time you mod the car?
  23. Yes, it did Sthephen. She was well warned. John, I take it you are including all the times you've driven it in that statement?
  24. She's not the worst driver Alan but she is ill prepared for what this car might throw at her. Build quality isn't a concern albeit that I'm still well withing shakedown mode but her total lack of mechanical sympathy is. She'll merrily bounce up kebs, squeeze into spaces I'd never look at and comments like "that oil lights really starting to annoy me" are not unheard of.
