  1. Welcome aboard mate! Good place to be for advice and general banter !
  2. Ian, I've got a set of 4 pots sitting in my garage you can borrow. They've been off the car for over a year though, so wil provbably need a bit of a clean up. You're welcome to borrow though. I'll PM you my mobile no. Dave
  3. Sounds too good to be true..... (for anyone with a G postcode)
  4. I'm looking for a Forge dump valve for a 1998 car (not the newer bolt to IC one). Anyone around Edinburgh got one available for sale ? Dave
  5. << harnesses are great but not practical if you use your back seats (i.e. for my 8mth old daughter!) >> What's wrong with the boot !!??!!
  6. Welcome! Hope you have shares in Shell !?!
  7. Welcome aboard!
  8. I tried one at the last track day and was impressed. Very easy to change (once you find the allen key !! ) and holds you well into the seat. It basically holds the waist part of the belt tight round you so you don't slide around, but your upper body is still free to move around (unlike a harness) as the diagonal strap operates as normal. Safety wise probably no better than a normal seat belt, but it does stick you to your seat well. You don't feel as restricted as you do with a harness which is a plus or a minus depending on why you're buying it I guess! If you find yourself sliding around in your seat a lot on track days (or any days), it's definitely worth considering. Dave
  9. Yep, the first number relates to the cold (startup) viscosity. The higher the number here, the harder your starter motor/oil pump will have to work to circulate the oil when cold. The second number relates to the viscosity when warmed up. You want it to be thick enough to protect your engine, but not so thick as to create extra friction. I'd agree with Craig that you need at least 40 here, ideally 50, although I don't know if 60 is too high - that's down to personal preference I guess. If you're engine runs hot (lots of mods), you'd probably be better with a higher number here I imagine. The two numbers don't mean much on their own, they need to be taken into the context of the temperature the relate to. A '5' viscosity oil at high temperature would be like water, while a cold '60' viscosity oil would be like tar. With the wonders of multigrade, we can have a good at both ends! To answer the original question though, I think your 5/30 will be a bit thin!
  10. I think it will be a bit thin to be honest, but I'm by no means an oil expert. The 2 numbers relate to the viscosity at different temperatures and generally the lower the first number the better, and the higher the second number the better. Check what viscocity Subaru recommend and if the seconf number is higher than 30, I'd stay clear. I use Motul myself and it's 15/50 (as recommended by sti). I think castrol rs is 10/60. If in doubt, DON'T risk it though !! Could be an expensive mistake!! I've always avoided 'cheap' oil, as I think it's a false economy to be honest. All IMHO of course ! Dave
  11. Apparently they're doing trials in the South East, and if it's popular they'll roll it out around the country. 90.9p / litre.
  12. << Tried, but links no working anymore Ian Daz >> Worked for me - 4395
  13. Absolutely not - I'm going to remain a virgin until I'm married !!
  14. My baby sleeps all night too - she's perfect....... I just get home from work, take the key out of her, and once the turbo timer finishes, that's her till the next morning ! Seriously though, congratulations mate. Probably need to start thinking about one of these sometime soon too

  18. Looks like a great day. I had a tour of the Mclaren factory a few years back and that was quite an eye opener. There was carbon lying around EVERYWHERE!! They let us lift up the cockpit monocoque and you could lift it with one finger !! The noise from these beasts has to be heard to be appreciated. I assume you had earplugs in if you were that close !! How did you mangle that one mate ?
  19. Looking to get some dedicated track tyres for the P1 as my "home made slicks" are getting a tad thin now to be useable to/from the track. Anyone have any recommendations for : 1 - What to get 2 - Where to get them locally (or mail order if necesary). The tyres that are on are 205/45/17. Thanks Dave
  20. Pics of the sub and box would be cool thanks Also, where are you?? abz ?
  21. Oops !! Not a very impressive display from the fire marshalls either !
  22. Logo number 2 for me too. I'm probably being overly anal, but it would be good if all of the 'SCOTTISH SCOOBIES' bit was on the upper part of the logo. It reads a wee bit like : "www.s cottishscoobie s.co.uk" to me, if you know what I mean!! That would perhaps mean a slightly bigger gap between the "uk" and the "www" which I think might be good too. If I'm too late and no-one agrees, I don't mind. Just thought I'd throw my tuppence in! Excellent work though, and way better than anything I could produce, so well done and thanks girls. Dave
  23. << So - how did you find that? LOL >> Great thanks ! Over 2000 bucks already !! I think they could have found a nicer pair for the 300 prize though !!
  24. I think we've got a great community up here too. Look at the turn outs at the last few big runs!! For the population we have, we do pretty well I reckon. We just need to sort out the lines of communication so no-one feels their toes are getting trod on at times. At the end of the day we're all here to have fun so lets work together at it. If anyone's got an issue with a specific person, why not sort it out via PM rather than on the public board!! (or phone or any other method of one-to-one communication). I think the problem may be as simple as a bit of misinterpretation of previous comments made, just because of differing personalities. Let's face it, there's never any of this at face-to-face meets is there??? Smile and get your next meet sorted out for forksake !! Dave
  25. Have fun guys. I'll keep you a place in the karting !! D
