I'm sure he's talking about a Snowfoam Lance . Quite fancy getting one of those myself.

Here's Andy's website link: Newage ECUTek prices AFP He's £195 +V for tweeking his own base map, or £350 +V for tweeking someone elses map .
-
That's what I was gonna do with a TSL333 ECUTek ECU I picked up for my STi, but was going to get Andy F to map it to the car to make sure nothing goes bang . (about £350 by Andy F if already ECUTek licensed). You also need to get the locking system ecu paired up with the ecu for the keys/immobiliser (about £40 from the dealer I think). Hope this helps, it's my understanding of how it works, and stand corrected if not 100%.

Ha ha ! Quality pic btw.
-
Maybe the car's trying to tell you it wants a big brake set-up Ryan?
-
17" Newage 100pcd with sort of dimples on the rim between the spokes. They have a large offset to fit Brembos under them. What brakes were they over on your car?

This was also my first time up on the drag strip and had a great time, as did my daughter Hannah. We had to run off at the end to give a hand to someone who's car was feeling a bit ill due to all the launches, but can I just thank everyone who was involved in organising this, and Julie (Lostboy's better half) for keeping an eye on Hannah until she felt brave enough to go for some blasts with her old man . I only had my diesel Ibiza with me, but thoroughly enjoyed it, and even came to within 0.038 sec of another member's best time with his WRX .

You could probably tell from when we spoke on Thursday that itwouldn't be long away from the fold . Just need to take delivery, then make a few modifications involving some wrx kit, so let me know if you've got any standard kit knocking about for cash?
-
That's a beaut mate You did well lasting that long. It only took me 2 days before puting money down on another scoob.
-
Well I couldn't take it any longer. Being Scoobyless is crap!!! I lasted less than 48hrs before viewing and agreeing a deal on another Scooby . It's actually for the wife, and a replacement for her Seat Leon. It's only a lowly 2.0 GX Sport 5dr Blobeye, but my wife was also getting withdrawal symptoms and NEEDED a AWD scooby without the STi spoiler for over the winter . I don't think she ever drove the STi on boost, Lol, so I think this'll be perfect for her. I'll also take her out for the occasional wee run too. My plans are still to have a look for a cheap classic toy come the better weather around springtime. The main thing is, once I get some non-turbo unequal headers, I'll have the Flat-four Burble back in my life . Phil P.S. I'll get some pics up once it arrives.

It was looking good tonight Cathy. Very shiny .
-
My wife say she gets the nutters on the road quite regularly, and not always from the youths either! She reckons it's the STi spoiler that attracts them, and would be more than happy for me to change it to a WRX boot-level one ?
-
I was also told to look out for a notchy gearbox, leaking turbo and all the usual car checks (Suspension/cv's/bearings/exhaust). I'm not sure about classics, but on my bug STi I can plug in my canbus fault code reader to see if there's anything logged up?

Hi Bryan, Welcome to the SIDC Scottish section, it's good to see you made your way over here from Snet . I see Cathy (Midnight21) has already offered to help you seek appropriate accommodation . www.pistonheads.com and www.autotrader.co.uk are sites with loads of cars for sale, but it's maybe worth holding out for a well looked after model from a fellow member of SIDC or Snet? Good luck with your house/car hunting, and hopefully see you at a meet soon. Phil P.S. I know it probably isn't, but the 2nd picture of you guys at Rally Finland looks sooooooo Photoshopped Lol

Jees-o frank. That must make it all a lot worse for you, knowing that. Hope you get it all sorted out swiftly, and get a replacement soon.

Try Keith at Chipsaway (Tel- 07951 219566) He's done flawless plastic welds, bumper repairs and spot-on paint matching for me before. He also comes to your home/workplace to sort it as you wait. I'd at least give him a bell and let him quote you.
-
I may well come through for this one too (Spectating). Hopefully I can persuade one or both of my kids to come along and see some fast cars and some quick times .
-
Cheers Baz, you're a star mate. You just saved me a bit of sweat, blood then tears there . Phil
-
Cheers Baz , anyone know for sure if blobeye springs fit a bugeye?
-
Just to hijack the thread a little, would a blobeye suspension fit a bugeye? Just that I've been offered some Tein springs for my STi and wondered if they'd fit.
-
Well done Arch . Not too shabby at all, after your mega late start to the season
-
Funny you should say that Arch, I've just been researching for the last 1/2 hr to find that although the Shell Helix is sold as Synthetic, it is merely a Hydrocracked Petroleum based oil from refined mineral oil . Is it ok for me to change from using a Type 3 oil to a Type 4/5 (Millers/Motul), or will I need to flush it out first? I'll look at the Millers I think . How'd you get on this weekend anyway?
-
Cheers b4z, As this has used fully synthetic oil all it's life I know that's what I'll stick with, but it was just more a question of whether you need to use a different grade of oil as your motor gets older or not? Also if there are recommendations for using a different brand or just keep using the same to aid the longevity of the engine?
-
I'm just about to do a service on my 52 reg STi type uk and thought I'd check what the general concensus is. The car has just turned 80k miles and has been using 5w/40 Shell Helix Ultra (Fully Synthetic) for all of its life so far. Just thought that with the engine getting on in miles would I need to change the oil grade, or should I even be looking to change to a better make/spec of oil for this and future services? Cheers, Phil
