  1. Sounds like a plan! Any thoughts on where/when? We often do a mid-week meet in lechlade which is usually a laugh if that suits? Wouldn't take much to organise one
  2. Rural oxfordshire... About as low as crime rates go I'm not blunt, just typing on a mobile. Difficult to convey emotion
  3. At 25, my first year on my 54 plate GX cost me £980... With 2yrs ncb. At 17 with no ncb, I dread to think!
  4. You will NOT get insured pre or post test without ncb and even then it'll only be if you've SERIOUSLY deep pockets! I admire your enthusiasm but there's a reason scoobs have high premiums. Bide your time chap, start small, work your way up. Some of my most fun cars were small engined hot hatches. If you jump in a wrx with little to no experience, you WILL smash it up!
  5. Depends if you want to spend 2-3k each year on insurance! Full out a quote online, say you're 17/18... Watch the thousands stack up - my money's on 6k!
  6. Yeah, stick with something small and insurance friendly for a couple of years. A friend at uni had a 1.4 justy as his first car - because it was Subaru rather than a suzuki (as they were based on at the time), he was paying a fortune!
  7. best bet is to look at a 1.6 or 1.8 GL classic impreza, move up to a 2.0 GX after a couple of years and then at about 25, get a WRX ...I got my GX and stuck with it purely because of the distance I was doing - I'm now 30 lol
  8. Pity it's not over the weekend as I'm currently only about 20mins from toontown... its been a while since I've been out and about that way
  9. Blimey! That is cheap!!! By comparison, my GX costs me £318 at 30 with 5yrs ncb - £50 excess (my windscreen excess is higher at £60 for some reason!)
  10. I'll be up for this one! Good excuse to visit the folks so assuming I can, I'll come from Uffculme
  11. Seconded It's your car, your choice. I rather like the Cusco graphics tbh
  12. Well, it's that time again and the latest issue of True Grip is now live for you to enjoy! In this issue we're incredibly excited to be leading with a showcase of one of the very first Subaru BRZs in the UK - without wanting to give away too much, it really is something quite spectacular, take a look for yourselves on page 14 where we've taken the opportunity to take an in-depth look around what is expected to be one of the most exciting new cars realised in 2012. We also have full minutes from the SIDCs recent AGM in Linconshire for those that were unable to attend on the day itself [pages 22-25]. We have a writeup on the recent SIDC Track Day at Kames from badbaz (page 26) and regular Readers' Rides section as well as an update from the fine folk at Cross Roads Subaru. /// You can view the latest issue, as ever, at http://www.sidc.co.uk/truegrip /// Don't forget about the download option for members who want to keep a pdf version on their local machine or iPad etc as well as an archive of all the previous digital preview issues. The printed version of the mag will be available, as ever, from HP's MagCloud at http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/390726 as of today.
  13. As is the way with these things mate I think you'll just get the one
  14. Send Little Vodka Goblin a PM mate, she'll be your nearest RO
  15. My GX doesn't like V Power... found I get better economy and performance from standard super unleaded.
  16. We have a few midweek meets through the year in Lechlade, Oxon - down by the river with fish & chips etc. Once I've gotten the next issue of True Grip wrapped up I'll look into getting another sorted
  17. Hmmmn, seems an intelligent chap! Shame the same effort he put into such a 'beautiful' car didn't go into his spelling and grammar
  18. It's a new one on me, not heard of P1s being perticularly prone to failure around 60k... Not owned one though. That said, I would if the opportunity arose Sure someone will be along who has a more in depth knowledge soon enough though
  19. Oooh, tempting fate their mate maybe? How are the revs between 2&3k lol
  20. Welcome to SIDC and it was good to meet you at Cadwell at the weekend!
