  1. Actually, depending on when you're heading down I would meet you somewhere up by Cheltenham as I head south... mini M5 convoy! Will PM my number
  2. That I can, back to you very soon
  3. Near Exeter Matthew, NEAR Exeter. Uffculmn daaaarling. Dearest mama's country retreat is free for the weekend Tallyho!
  4. I'll be staying not far from Exeter if you fancy meeting up for a pint the night before?
  5. Excellent mate, will do! It's not a WR1 is it?!?
  6. How did you get on with it Rich?
  7. That would be very kind, thank you! I'll PM you my address to send to so we can take it down with the other donations. Thanks again!
  8. Right then, I'm still going to need final sign-off of these timings with the local police but as it stands the plan will be to start in Exeter Services on the M5 and make our way down to Newquay along the A30 north of Dartmoor... The convoy meet times are as below and yes, they're generous but I would rather that than anyone having to nail it to catch up Convoy Times/Locations Exeter Service Station Exeter EX2 7HF Leave 08:00am Sourton Cross Service Station Sourton, Okehampton, Devon EX20 4LY Arrive 08:30 Leave 08:40am Layby A30 Liftondown Launceston Arrive 09:05am Leave 09:15am Mid Cornwall Service Area‎ (Bodmin) Cornwall PL26 8 Arrive 09:30am Leave 09:45am Morrisons Store‎, Treloggan Road (Newquay) Colan, Cornwall TR7 2 Arrive 10:00am Leave 10:15am Itinerary within Newquay We will be leaving Morrisons in Newquay at 10:15am to arrive at Jake's house for 10:30am. At this point we'll surprise him, give him his goodies and take opportunity to grab some pics (please be mindful when taking photos as a vulnerable child will be the main focus). At 11:00am we will proceed into Newquay, along the route above with Jake +1 (family member) in the lead car. This will take around 1/2hr but will depend upon traffic. After this isn't planned as it will depend upon the interest raised whilst we're all out and about... plan is that once we're all wrapped up we maybe go sit on the beach with a bag of chips and enjoy the warm fuzzy feeling of doing something so worthwhile! ///PLEASE NOTE/// For obvious reasons I'll not be be giving out Jake's address before we reach Morrisons so if you're late make your way into Newquay and join the convoy once we come through. ///MAP///Link to maps///MAP/// Names below for those that are coming please 01. stum450n 02. jwrxtonkins 03. specT 04. gillette2 (?) 05. 9. Excellent, thanks Rach!
  10. C'mon folks, get your names down - would be shame to see you guys go from pretty much owning the show last year to not being there at all for 2011 It's a cracking show and a great day out! If I'm able to free up the time I'll be heading down to cover it for True Grip as well so it'll be worth going down!
  11. Local TV and newspapers have been contacted by the parents directly and are keen by all accounts so I'm assuming they'll be at the family's home for our arrival. There was even talk of contacts at the guardian but I've a vague recollection of there being a local paper of the same name? The local police have agreed in principle but I'll be needing to give them confirmed numbers - have said an absolute max of 30 cars
  12. Thanks Rach - you want to see if we can so anything with the TG contacts we have? If successful and anything needs posting, do you want to get it sent to me and I can ferry everything in one go then. If anybody else wants to donate some memorabilia/accessories/collectables etc to Jake then please PM for my address and I can include everything when we surprise Jake - I don't think it would be a good idea to go passing out their home address to send directly.
  13. I'll be posting provisional convoy times etc up this evening (have had to wait until I spoke to the local police) but the first main convoy meet point will be Exeter services on the M5 on Sunday morning around 8am. Will confirm exactly later today.
  14. Ah yes, know the car - see you about on the odd occasion. We've a midweek Lechlade meet coming up soon (details in the SW & SE regional forums)
  15. Theyre per person mate
  16. Spoke to the local constabulary this morning as a courtesy and I'm expecting a call back from them. I'm speaking to the Committee about the club sourcing some window stickers for those attending I'm be a bit optomistic but I'll be putting an absolute max of 30 cars so I'll get a list together with all the details anyone's likely to need this evening when I get home from work... ...then we can all go hell for leather spreading the word and getting this convoy together eh!
  17. Rob, that would be fantastic! Feel free to join us! Where about near Oxford by the way? I'm in Witney and we've a few local members in Carterton and Oxford centre... Or have I asked you that one already?!?
  18. I'm working on the details at the mo but the confirmed arrival time is 11:00am Sunday 17th July. I will be posting up meet points, convoy times and some more specific info this evening but having spoken to the parents last night the above time/date is when they're expecting us. It's a residential address we'll be arriving at so I'm looking at somewhere can can meet/regroup locally before we drive down to the house.
  19. Play nicely children please.
  20. OR... I could take the 1 down in your absence eh mate!
  21. In hand (good thinking by the way )
  22. I'll speak to the parents and see what their thoughts are about dates/numbers and post up once it's been confirmed. Regardless of the outcome I'll be heading down from Uffculme/Cullompton rather than one big run down from Oxford so I guess the services just off the M5 would be as good a starting point or a convoy as any!
  23. Hi Gerry, I'm happy to take the reins on behalf of the club - would probably say the 16/17 July is likely to be better and allow us more time to organise things. PM en route Cheers, Stu
  24. Increase in number plate thefts reported in North Oxfordshire There has been a three-fold increase in the number of number plates used to steal petrol at filling stations in North Oxfordshire. Area Commander Supt Howard Stone, said the increase in number plate thefts was specifically down to the high cost of fuel. Cars disguised with stolen plates fill up and then drive off without paying. Jo Abbott from the RAC Foundation said it was a severe problem, particularly in the Thames Valley area. She said its central location near the M40 probably meant that it was a target for criminals coming into the area. Det Sgt Steve Birchall, who works in the Banbury area, said that the police have six high profile operations planned this year to combat plate thefts. The police use an automatic number plate recognition system (ANPR) which immediately alerts them if stolen plates are captured on camera. Mr Birchall said: "Tamper-proof plates shatter so they can't be used for anything else... no one can use your identity to commit another offence." Link to BBC News
