  1. Welcome to SIDC mate. We're always glad to hear of another potential scooby convert
  2. Lol, no point beating round the bush
  3. Try 888racing here they do the touring cars for BTCC, but also made the limited edition Astra coupe 888. Or courtney sport here The Z20LET engine is quite tunable
  4. Mini JCW, a definition:- He's a wannabe M3 driver who hasn't quite done well enough in life to own one, and so feels he has a point to prove against all other performance car owners Obviously not ALL Mini drivers are like this, but i think you'll know what i mean
  5. Thanks for the replies guys. I'll leave the scoob as she is then and risk it. The brakes are ok cold really. Just the bite isn't as good as the old brembo pads i had before. But like i said when warm they are very good pads. Right just need to wait till nearer the end of the month and book it in for its mot... ...and service including cambelt... ...Where the hell is my wallet hiding???
  6. Hi guys and gals, Does anyone know if my scoob will pass the MOT whilst fitted with Silver tec bulbs for indicators? They are chrome silver in appearance but do flash orange. Also, i have EBC yellowstuff brake pads. They work wonderfully when they are warmed through, not so wonderful when cold. Is there a standard that must be passed regarding brakes? Thanks.
  7. Thanks mate, I have a wish list as long as my arm for things i'd like to do A front splitter is on there, as is the '06 mini wing. I like those rear spoiler separators you have. I saw a hawk-eye at Japshow with them too For the wheels i was thinking gun metal. But i love the gold so not really planning anything yet. The de-tango is fairly recent. Something i've wanted to do for a long time, so i bit the bullet and went for it! Front and rear lights Very pleased with the results!
  8. No idea about the ticket situation there mate. Haven't been to Trax for a few years. My scoob is a '03 (blob-eye) STi. Its my 3rd scooby, i've had 2 WRX's before this one. Then had a couple of years away from subaru. The itch never went away though so i brought this: Its the first STi i've owned. Had her since April '08. Absolutely love it
  9. Rather than 'worst' they've just resurfaced a section near me that admittedly was in a bad way, and its now brilliant! I was driving the Clio (i do that quite often ), which isn't exactly the nosiest of cars, when all of a sudden i drove onto the new bit and.... ...silence. I never realised that the clio made so much tyre noise! ;)
  10. Welcome fella. A scooby is a great choice of car, very capable on road or track. I'm not attending Trax myself so i can't help you out, but you might get lucky and find someone generous enough to take you for a spin (hopefully not literally! )!
  11. I need to get a few issues sorted on mine before it would stand a hope in hell of being show shine ready, which irritates me slightly as all of the tiny dings were done before i brought it, i knew they were there with the view that i'd spend some time and money getting it perfect again, but i haven't got round to doing it I cleaned her last week and took these though. This weekend she's getting the full wax and hours spent on her though, and a better camera should show her off better
  12. Spot on, the 2005 blob-eye has the revised PCD. But this only changed on the STi, all other variants inc WRX remained 5x100.
  13. Thanks, she's up for sale at the moment But i hopefully won't be out of scoobs for too long.
  14. The pics are awesome mate! And i'd like to add that is one of the best looking blob-eyes i've ever seen, very very clean I'm almost ashamed of my mine, its going to get buffed to within an inch of its life this weekend having seen yours!
  15. Lol, actually i have a little joke running with work mates that the clio runs 700bhp So the ribbing might not have been that bad
  16. welcome mate! I started in an '03 blob eye, still my favourite
  17. I think the general feeling is an induction kit is a no no. If its more power your after a replacement panel filter will be good enough, such as a 'green' filter. If you want noise and in particular from a cone filter, make sure its not an oiled filter, as the oil will damage the MAF sensor. Also bear in mind that when you affect air in or out from your engine it would be wise to get a remap. So for best results de-cat/sport-cat the down-pipe and sort the exhaust all at the same time, add a 255ltr fuel pump and remap you should see arond 260-270bhp from your WRX.
  18. lol that is very typical BMW behaviour At least in Germany they indicate
  19. A motorbike weighs a fraction of a car and the tyres are designed to be used on the sidewalls, so in affect a bike tyres useable width is not necessarily in constant contact with the ground. This is why grip is found even when the bike is leaning over, a combo of that tyre design and low weight. A car's tyres are very different. Its a good question. I think on dry tamac, yes, wider tyres equal more rubber in contact with the ground at rest, and so pulling off would take more torque and energy to overwhelm the rubber. This isn't a good thing for cornering though because here you want skinnier tyres for the turning wheels but wider on the rear, as Evo reported recently: "At the front wheels, when an uneven road surface lifts one side of an overly wide tyre it causes it to pull to one side. Often called tramlining, this can make the steering feel twitchy on a typical back road, and in a front-wheel-drive car it is amplified by the drive torque acting on the wheels at the same time. Also, while camber change will be dialled into steering to improve high-speed handling, at low speeds wide front tyres can make good handling more difficult to achieve. So its a bit of a juggling act and very wide tyres are best avoided at the front for both RWD and FWD cars. The rear tyres need to prevent oversteer in the middle of a corner - in RWD when accelerating or in a FWD car when braking - so reasonable widthis always need here. However there is production economy to be had from using the same size tyres at both ends, and that frequently overrides any engineering argument." Also this makes sense of drag racers, FWD cars need massive traction off the line and so run very wide tyres at the front with low psi, and skinny wheels at rear to reduce drag. The opposite is used on RWD.
  20. Well welcome to SICD mate Get a post up in General Discussion and say hello to everyone I started scoob ownership with an '03 WRX too , on my 3rd and still love them
  21. Scumbags! Its sickening when someone thinks they can just help themselves to something that isn't theres We all graft hard to have these cars, we earn them. I hope the little scroats get caught and hung up by their balls, assuming they have some (targarting a 76yr old is disgusting! :D )!!!
  22. Ace is just my initials, the 555 part is simply taken from subaru My scoob also carries an 'ACE' number plate
  23. Your welcome. Don't rush mate, and test drive plenty
