  1. I said cars are faster on corners! I nearly had a biker under my Vectra(!), yes really, when he overtook me then couldn't get round the next corner quick enough, causing me all kinds of problems! And just as a final blow... Magane R26.R, a Renault hatchback, laps the 'Ring in 8.17sec Cars are faster.
  2. Yes. Your '02 WRX will be in band K -£215 a year. Band L is for cars registered after 23 March 2006. So basically; Classic scoob > taxed by engine capacity. Nice and cheap Newage WRX/STi (bug to blob) > Band K. Middle of the road Newage/hatch (Hawk / Um, hatch) registered after 23 March 2006) > Band L. Complete rip off! (I've not listed N/A engined scoobs, only because i'd be here all day )
  3. Totally agree, i was surprised how easy it was to do, and they reseal very well Regarding MOT, i'm not sure so i have kept 2 orange bulbs just in case
  4. Some people just don't care! Scumbag! Hope the cctv gets his face when you tell him! But for some reason doesn't record when you deck him!
  5. I'm not a biker. Right, that said. I would love to learn and my 2 dream bikes are the Ducati 748 in yellow And a Suzuki GSX-R600. I'd like to say that i'd prefer the 998 and the 1000 version of both these, but realistically i'd kill myself, so my sights are lower One day...
  6. Lol, i always check the 'meets' page for latest dates etc, but unfortunately they always seem to fall on busy weekends for me I have outside commitments that take up alot of time.
  7. I had been talking about doing it for over a year as i was worried about that too, or worse damaging the lights beyond repair. But when you get to it, its actually fairly straight forward, and thus far, i've driven in the rain etc and they have been fine! No moisture has got in them at all.
  8. I had Rota wheels on my old WRX, they are great wheels, good finish and lightweight. Subaru are making huge mark-up with prices like that! Inovit and Rota are perfectly good wheels mate Edit; Heres a photo of my previous scoob on Rotas
  9. I was going to use a heat gun, but thought sod it
  10. Sorry i've only just got these on guys My scoob Vs a Evo ...Yes i won 13.7 the Evo at 14.2
  11. They look like Inovit Tarmac to me
  12. Finally got round to de-tango'ing the blob Heres some pics of what i did... grill out first Loosened the headlight Fully removed Mean and moody Strip down of the headlight Including all bulbs and harness Ready for the oven heating through (i know the headlights are seemingly jumping left to right, only got certain photos ) Seperated the two halves and remove the orange Hey presto, quick re-heat and both parts resealed Then i simply reversed the process and re-built the scoob (I had to use orange bulbs for this pic as the new silver indicators hadn't arrived, yes i was impatient) My silver bulbs are now fitted and the front end looks great! I'll get a snap of how she looks when i next get her from the garage
  13. Like them mate! I'm not a fan of lowering it either, its a rally car
  14. My sensible head says that, that was incredibly stupid, dangerous and i hope they all get locked up for public safety! My Scooby loving (maybe slightly childish) head says, wow! That cornering at the beginning was impressive, and that was just a USD Sport model with 130bhp! Sensible head again, the way he treats that scoob neither he, nor the poor scoob will last long!
  15. Trax is a multi-marque car show held at Silverstone every year in early Sept. I love the Nurburgring I've been a couple of times and done a good few laps in cars! To be prepared for the 'Ring in a car, is the same as for tackling it on a bike. Check that everything is in perfect working order, all fluids are topped up, and tyres have good tread and correct pressures. The only real difference you'll notice is that cars are faster than bikes on the corners and i've seen bikers shocked when they realise You've already been so theres no point teaching you to suck eggs I'm hoping to get my scoob over there too, but it probably won't be till next year
  16. Welcome fella, I have had 3 scoobs now, 2 WRX blob-eyes. What are you afraid of? Standard WRX is very very strong. Cornering wise it will be quicker than all your previous cars you've listed. Its all about balance as i'm sure you know. With the scoob you drive through a corner, rather than turn in and wait to get back on the loud pedal The clio's do handle well mind, but the scoob, as well as being slightly faster mid-bend also has more power after it, and would have been accelerating sooner, so will happily leave a clio behind Better tyres are a must! And then look at doing the exhaust system. As said WRX has 3 cats, 2 in the main system and a third in the up-pipe. Then sort the breathing-in part and a remap, 270bhp is reliable and tbh skys the limit if you have the funds. The STi is all of the above, but stronger/quicker again. One extra gear, and one extra Diff it is the more focused car. But WRX's are fantastic i never felt short changed when i had mine. Above all enjoy mate! Get to a few meets and see what can be done
  17. Welcome fella! I have the same model scooby I hope you enjoy owning it as much as i do mine
  18. The easiest way is to have a photobucket.com account. Upload your snaps to that, then using photobucket copy the IMG code that appears under your photo. Paste it in to the reply box on here and bingo Also try posting threads such as this one in general discussion, you'll get more response
  19. Ok not on a scoob but Evo's AYC tickles me:- Active Yawn Control
  20. Welcome fella! Thats a tidy scoob considering the mileage!
  21. I've been active on and off this forum now for years (5 actually ) and i have always felt SIDC to be friendly and informative. Whilst banter can still be had between members and all have a laugh. The only thing i feel sometimes (not from all) is that there is a misconception that Subaru is the best, fastest cars in the world and all others are inferior to mighty Subaru Impreza's. I find this narrow mindedness slightly annoying, but amusing at the same time. Threads such as Scooby Vs .... and the OP had a shock to find his scoob can actually be beaten by a well driven Clio sport (as example) I think the problem is that as people from other forums search the net they stumble across threads such as these and of course we may give the impression that we're better than them. These people don't dig further into the forum or see the other benefits or this club and so form an opinion of us, right or wrong. Just my 2p worth. As a full member i think this club is great and will continue to give and accept advice, and to enjoy the club
  22. Nice one mate. Got to see your car at Japshow
  23. Thats a fair point, you would expect more power from some of those big V8's. The exception is the corvette ZR1's 6.2 which does produce some big figures 640bhp and 604lb ft is plenty And it even does corners very very well! Thats not to say i'd rush out and buy a 'vette over my scoob though!
  24. Hold on fellas! I didn't mean I have an interest in muscle cars! I just meant in general But they certainly ain't gay. You can't knock cars with big V8's And some "yank tanks" would destroy a scoob round a track... ...Well, a ZR1, a Ford GT and a Rousch Mustang would! Thank you! Exactly what i was trying to say earlier! I don't see how anyone who claims to be a petrol head can ignore all other makes and models bar their chosen brand. And Hollywood or whoever, aren't going to pander to narrow minded critics just because they only wanted car chases between scoobys and skylines Hence i enjoyed the film, and was glad that at least one scoob has finally been featured (about time!)!
