Same happened to me too, a couple of years back! Here's how our e-mails bounced back and forth: Me http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/224680.htm Can you confirm the price and your location, please? Stu in Scotland. Him Hello , Thank you for your interest in purchasing my car. The vehicle is in good condition, has no technical damage at all, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects, no smoking. It's fun and robust to drive. Technical inspection and emissions testing is passed and stamped as well. It has title of ownership, cleared of any obligations or fees and comes with all the documents you need to register it. I have worked in UK for the last 2 years and I've purchased the car there. My company wanted me back home, so currently I'm in Rome, Italy. I've bring the car home with me. I decided that is better to sell it because I don `t use it anymore (the wheel is on right side and is very difficult for me to drive it in Italy) and it `s a pitty to keep such a car and not to use it. I realize that is a cheap price for such a car but my special situation makes me do things that I wouldn't do in normal Circumstances.I've wanted to register it here and keep it for me,unfortunately import taxes and European regulations made me change my mind. Now I am trying to sell it back too for such a low price because next week I have a deadline term for paying those taxes. The price I am looking for my car is £8,000 including the shipping costs, insurance and handling(delivery to EUROPE). You will not have to pay additional taxes for this. Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have. Thank you and have a nice day! Me Hi Patrik, The car you are offering is exactly what i am looking for and i have been looking for a very long time now.The model, the colour, the year, the low mileage and the apparent condition of the car. However the deal you are proposing appears to be too good to be true! I doubt that i could agree to purchasing a car without having a look at it first and checking that it was indeed genuine. I am very curious about how such a sale could take place. The site (Pistonheads.com) that you are advertising your car on offers the following advise when buying a car: The criminal element are always keen to exploit car buyers and sellers so we alert you to the following scams that we're currently aware of: "Quick Sale Required" A scam that has emerged this year is from con artists claiming to have a reason for selling very, very quickly. Sometimes this is to do with a claim that they've had to move out to mainland Europe at short notice they say the are in a rush to sell and that the car is cheaply priced because of that. Bargain cars always attract a lot of responses, especially via email. The fraudsters then try to get potential buyers to send large deposits to secure either delivery of the car or first look at it. The car probably doesn't even exist - often the pictures have the number plates blanked out or inconsistencies. IF THE PRICE OF A CAR SEEMS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE - TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS! If anyone's ever in a hurry to sell a car they can sell it to a dealer at a knockdown price rather than punt it around the internet. If you could take the time to explain exactly how the car you are selling would be transferred to a buyer like myself back here in the UK, and the money you are asking for, would be transferred to yourself, that would be very much appreciated. Many thanks. Stu. Him Hi, I would like to use a shipping company for this deal, the process is very easy and I have just bought a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee and this is why I know how it works. This company will handle the delivery of the car and also they will handle all the registration papers. If we will use it you will have 5 days to inspect the car before you decide to buy it. I will pay delivery! The delivery time will be arround 3-4 days and the car will be delivered at your home address. In this time you will receive the tracking number of the transaction so you can use it to check the status on the company website. Let me explain you the whole proccess: First I will need your details, full name and address. As soon as I get the info from you I will take the car and go to the shipping company to transfer it in their custody. I will pay all the shipping charges. After the car is in their custody they will send you a confirmation and also payment instructions. They work as an escrow service and will hold the payment during the 5 days period for inspection. After the payment is confirmed to them, they will get the car to your home address and will also give you the documents of registration and the car will be left in your custody, in this period you can inspect the car, take it to a service for inspection and drive test it. After the 5 days period is over the shipping company will come to you and if you decided to keep the car you will transfer the documents on your name and after the car is registered on your name they will release the payment to me. If you decide not to buy the car they will get the car back and will send you a full refund of the payment. Please e-mail me with your decision and also your full name and address!! Thanks Me Hi, Thank you for taking the time to explain how this sale will work, your information appears to be very clear and concise. Can you give me the name of the company that will deal with the shipping and money transaction on this sale. This will allow me to see the best method of payment and also ensure that the company in question is reputable. Can I also have your full name and address. Once you send me this information I will take 24 hours to way up the proposed purchase of your car and give you my final decision. I will then give you my details if I decide to go ahead with the purchase of your car. Again many thanks, Stuart. Me How much road tax is remaining on the car? How much M.O.T. is remaining on the car? I would also appreciate the following information: VIN/chassis number ? Can be located in section 4 of the V5 Vehicle Registration Certificate. V5 Vehicle Registration Certificate serial number ? Can be located in the top right hand circle on the front of the V5 Vehicle Registration Certificate. Can you give me the name of the company that will deal with the shipping and money transaction on this sale. This will allow me to see the best method of payment and also ensure that the company in question is reputable. Can I also have your full name and address. And here endeth the communication!!!

Packed the family in the car and headed up at around 11 o'clock. By the time we got up to Knockhill it was hammering it down, so we did a u-turn and turned back. Totally gutted as we were all looking forward to this one but I just couldn't see the kids lasting long in that rain. I am working tomorrow morning and I think the forecast is much the same in the afternoon as it was today.

Mayby I could hide them all in the boot....... pay my £10 at the gates then park up and let them oot again. That sounds a bit more like it, anybody else tried this tactic?
-
The car looks lovely though.
-
I wouldn't mind heading up, but I take it they charge £10 a head for everybody in the car. There would be me, the wife and 2 kids (4 year old and 2 year old) in the car. If they are going to take £40 they can get tae...... ....... I think I will give it a miss. How much do they charge on a basic no frills thrash Sunday?

Looking lovely there Tommo. I have just spent the last few hours of sunlight tonight washing mine with this stuff R222 Total Auto Wash In preperation for an early start tomorrow morning, planning to clay bar, polish then protect. Been about a year and a half since I last did the full works. Hope I get the good results like you have.

I see what you are thinking but they are actually not in contact with the radiator and nothing has moved since fitting.

Great job there John. It looks fantastic.
-
As previously mentioned, a most excellent write up, great pictures and a cracking car.
-
Great job, the car is looking fantastisch.

Good extra footage........ proper mental. Just wish I had a fraction of his driving skills.
-
Excellent choice of alloy and colour. Looks fantastic.
-
Lovely example. Hawk-eyes are the bomb.

Would really like to change the standard green backlight effect on the instrument panel in the car. I think it would be so much better if it were blue, for me anyway. Is this possible? Is it bulbs or something else that creates the green illumination? Has anybody else changed this? Just got a new Pioneer head unit fitted and it is blue and looks so good. I assume the clock can't be changed............
-
Another example.
-
A ha.....never noticed that Looks spot on. And yes you have the balance just right.

Love the car by the way. The yellow is unique and I like it. What about these bad boys.... Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2S I know you are refurbing the wheels you have and from your photos I prefer the silver with the anthracite in 2nd place. Once you get the wheels done mayby go for centre caps with a touch of yellow in them or new yellow wheel nuts or maybe paint your caliper yellow with black letters............if its kept quite subtile it will remain a beautiful car indeed.

Thanks for all the reply's there people. Tam (Mystery Machine), most excellent reply, thanks for taking the time to put your thoughts down. I am now wondering if this is a task that a noob like myself could actually pull off. Bring on the 'how to' guides. I will now go and sample some HU's and speakers and see what is what. I have just ordered an 8GB USB flash stick, so I will load that up with Abba and Kylie Minogue's greatest hits and take that with me to see how fast the tracks load up.

I am looking for a wee bit of advice, from anyone in the know about upgrading from the standard Subaru stereo. I have £200, maybe £300 at a push to spend on upgrading the sounds in the car. I still have the standard set up, which you all know is pretty garbage. Now I really don't have a clue how to make the most of the money I have available. Is it better/cheaper to buy stuff online and fit them yourself, compared with letting a company do the whole thing, like Halfords or another specialist? I live in Glenrothes by the way. What do I want? Well I mostly have CD's but I am going to get me a USB flash drive and start downloading music, so I guess I am looking for a car stereo that will allow me to do that. I also like the the radio so that is essential. Do you get DAB radio's built in to car stereo's? Slap me if I am just being stupid!! Also I already have a hands free parrot thingy that currently works through the stereo. Will this still work through the new stereo? Are the standard speakers worth upgrading? If this is a must then I basically have £300 to cover both stereo and speakers. Remember, I ain't looking to win any competitions with the new sounds, just looking to get a wee bit quality sounds in the car (other than the lovely burble), or certainly better than what I have right now, surely that ain't going to be too difficult. I would like to gather some opinions/knowledge before I just plump for........ 'x' head unit and 'y' speakers. Any help very much appreciated.
