  1. Just a little poll to help me and Lindsy stop fighting over which colour the brake calipers should be painted on our car. I will not reveal our individual preference as not to sway anybody's vote. I am not going as far as having the calipers removed, split and professionally painted on this occasion. I am just going to paint them very carefully myself with the wheels removed. Using something like Halfords brake caliper paints or I've also heard that smooth hammerite paints work well. Then coat with a clear laquer. Any pointers on good products welcome.
  2. That would be the missus driving. If you were in your scoob and she saw you I'm sure she would have given you a wave. Or was she too busy tearing it up.
  3. I gave my other half Lindsy a Knockhill driving experience for her birthday earlier this year. It was the Seat track star one and she loved it. While there, the instructor told us that doing the 1 hour session in your own car is a great way to learn, the track, your car and your own ability. He also told us that if we wanted, we could even share the session. Half an hour each, which I thought was a great idea. As far as having the track to yourself, I'm not sure but I very much doubt it. The day we were there, there were other instructers and drivers on the track but there wasn't as much traffic as there would be as on a track day. If in doubt give them a phone call and ask, as i found the staff to be very friendly and helpfull indeed.
  4. Cheers Imy and to all for positive comments.
  5. Thats a real crackin' scoob you have there Craigy and very distinctivly yours. If I passed it on the road I would immediatly recognise the car as yours and I live up here in Scotland and have never met you (not yet anyway ). If I were you I would only consider selling if: a. You just can't afford to run it. or b. You are moving on to another scooby. Otherwise keep it.
  6. Any pics?? Sounds cool.
  7. Hi and welcome, now where's the pictures of this car ye speak about???
  8. Alrighty Grant, Lowered on Tiens, also Whiteline Rear 24mm ARB, solid droplinks, anti-lift kit and fast road geom. All work carried out at Hypertech. As for the exhaust, I want to stick to my original plan for a full Meercat system, up-pipe included, when funds allow of course.
  9. As usual that is a most kind offer Gus. However on this occasion Irish Al is going to help me out. Just waiting on him returning from his honeymoon and settling into married bliss.
  10. Cheers G.T., Bianca......RRRickyyyyyyyy Adam and Ricky are my young sons. The detango at the front is a must and will be dealt with shortly........as for the splitter, I do really fancy one but I hear that so many get broken on speed bumps and stuff. Cheers Gus, As it happens I also bought the same stickers in white at the same time as I wasn't sure which ones to put on the car. I only went for the yellow because I had seen them on a number of scoobs and thought that it was appropriate to use them although the white would suit the car better. I'm sure the white ones will grace the car one day. P.s. Loved the wee appearance on the TV.
  11. Spot on.
  12. Heres the latest photos of my car. Now has black wheel nuts and black lockers and lowered. Also just fitted last week, STI8 rear wing, oh aye and the blue Subaru badge on the front grille.
  13. Lovely car, cracking photos.
  14. Wow.
  15. The car looks amazing. I use Polished Bliss for all my products (always buy via their excellent website) but have never ventured up to their workshop. Would love to get the full correction malarky from them but just could not afford it!
  16. Welcome to the Scottish Scoobies. Will look out for you at the next Fife of Fife/Dundee meet. Fae another 12 fingered Fifer.
  17. Hello and welcome. Get some pics of that scoob up.
  18. I have had the following done at Hypertech recently: Teins Springs Whiteline Rear 24mm ARB Whiteline Front and Rear solid drop links Whiteline Anti-lift kit Fast road geometry Here are a couple of explanations from Dunc at Hypertech from e-mail's when I was enquiring about the work to be carried out, as I am no expert either. "FITTING THE ABOVE PARTS WOULD MAKE THE CAR TIGHT AT THE REAR END AND SLIGHTLY SOFTER AT THE FRONT TO ALLOW GOOD TURN IN . I FEEL FITTING AN UPRATED FRONT ARB CAN MAKE THE CAR VERY STIFF FOR NORMAL FAST ROAD USE AND VERY SKITTY IN THE WET." "Difference between 22mm and 24mm rear ARB is that the thicker they are the stiffer they become, we have found the 24mm adjustable rear bar produces less roll hence giving you more control of the front end which with the standard fittment lets you turn in more smoothly even in wet conditions. The links we always fit are the Alloy ones which dont flex as much as the wire ones. With all the bits you are getting fitted along with the fast road geometry settings the car will be transformed from the standard loose handling to a very responsive and enjoyable drive (Gokart)" The work carried out was fantastic and the car handles great now.
  19. I was in Eden Subaru in Cupar at the weekend (looking for a battery for my key) and it was still Subaru. Nobody there mentioned anything about closing. I also got a letter the other week from them for a service reminder. Only ever used them when I first bought the car (privately) about a year ago for a service. They seem ok, if not a bit pricey (as you would expect). The used cars they sell are definatly over priced though. Let us know how the one in Dundee fairs up as I think I would return to Subaru for the big 60,000 mile service (which is still a few years away ).
  20. Hi Ross, Be carefull where you buy your rear wing, there are alot of poor quality imitations aboot! I have just had my new rear wing (sti8 same as the one on scoobysailor's lovely car) fitted today and it looks superb. It really transforms the car. The one I got is a replica, but you will find it hard to tell the difference. See the following link. DR Motorsport I went to them as others have recommended highly here on this forum. Let me tell you that David from DR Motorsport (who is also a member of SIDC) is a gentleman. David (and his young son) went that 'extra mile' to fit the spoiler for me this morning and they did a great job. Will post some pics up when I get around to it.
  21. Willie, Don't change it until an MOT station absolutely confirms that you are indeed breaking the law. No doubt it cost you a bit and I bet you love it. Your description of events sounds almost like the officer in question may have been just winging it!
  22. Just like to join Bobbyc in thanking Hypertech for a great service. Last Thursday had new Tein springs fitted, lots of Whiteline goodies and the fast road geometry set-up. From the 1st enquiry through to collection of the car the guys and gals at Hypertech were brilliant. Thanks again.
  23. I have just had all the above carried out by Hypertech, except was advised to go for Tein springs instead of the Prodrive springs which I had in mind. Great information from Dunc and a job well done by Hypertech. The car feels fantastic now. Will do a thread later this week when I get the car cleaned up a bit and have some pics taken and another mod in place. They do indeed.
  24. Looking good. How does the car handle now? Did you do any other suspension bits or just the springs?
  25. The car looks absolutely fantastic and clean as a whistle.
