  1. Same here. I cancelled my tracker subscription and Admiral reduced my premium. They told me that given the car now is probably only worth buttons (2002 WRX), if it is stolen they never want it to be seen again as it is cheaper and less hassle for them if it is never found and they simply write it off as stolen. A tracker will result in it probably being found and they will have to arrange recovery, repairs etc. The tracker was worth it when it's value was substantantially more, but not now. If it is nicked, I wouldn't be too fussed, I would just go and buy something better. PS, I am with Admiral and pay £480 for a 2002 WRX, garaged, 8k miles a year, commuting (for when it snows) and 2 named drivers. Minimal mods however and 9 years NCB.
  2. I have just bought a set of 4 for my Toyota from a main dealer. It was under a tenner for the lot, inclusive of VAT!
  3. Seems an odd combination in one auction. A Valentino Rossi signed hat, then followed by a Faberge egg.
  4. A lot of people, myself included, will see this thread as more of an update thread, on what you are doing, where you are going etc. By its very nature it might not generate a huge amount of replies but it will keep Colin McRae Vision in everyones minds. It is good to know what events you are at so as we can pop in and say hello. Only really managed that once myself though. Grant and Imy, you guys together with the other volunteers, do an fantistic job. Keep up the good work, and keep us updated.
  5. It is not just the financial benefits though. Picking up on what Scooby222 said earlier, for me there isn't anywhere else to go in terms of a Subaru club which organises the meets and runs that the Strathclyde area of Scottish Scoobies (SIDC) does. I dont track the car nor is it really modded but I like to drive the car enthusiatically with other like minded members and if the club goes under where else offers that chance? Thats why I have rejoined to support the place. For me the meets and runs are worth the membership.
  6. You have hit the nail on the head. If the club didn't have paid members, it wouldn't be here. That is why I rejoined to support the place even though I don't really benefit financially. Totally agree. Whilst Jscoob's post in the first page of this thread was way out of line, it just set off reactions by people who should know better given the positions they are in. As I said before, restricting the for sale section to paid members is fine, but the wholescale deleting of virtually every post in the section was just daft and bound to get peoples backs up. Now it is stated that it was a mistake. Why then was there not an announcement to that effect? The whole issue was badly handled all round, but it is time to put it to bed. Lets move forward.
  7. Having just read this thread through, here is my two pence worth. Firstly I have no problem with only members being able to put up new posts in the For Sale section. If I recall, I think somewhere I put in a thread that I thought being able to sell on the forums should be a member benefit. However, the old for sale and wanted posts should have been allowed to die naturally, including those from non-members posted before the rule change. Not sure who came up with the idea of deleting all items where there were no replies in the last 15 days but I don’t agree with it. These forums do not move fast enough to chop them at 15 days. 3 months is more like it. Also, people reply to for sale and wanted posts by PM. Can the Admin on here check the PM activity relating to any of the topics posted? I recently rejoined as a member. This was to support the club as the new committee try to turn it round. I don’t do track days, use min dealers and the discounted insurance is extortionate and trying to communicate with KM’s gets very wearing. An AA discount is listed as member benefit but when I recently tried to renew my AA membership they no longer offer the discount. So financially, I get little back. However, supporting the club is enough for me. In this thread there is a Moderator telling members “If you don't like it hoot off”. A Committee Member then asks “...what the **** are you all whining about” and goes on to say “It's attitudes like this that make me wonder why the **** I bother...” Quite frankly stum450n, I am stunned and at your comments on this tread. If your attitude is even remotely representative of the committee then why the hell should I be here supporting the club? We all want to see the club get back on its feet but if this is the way things are going to go you will lose more members than you ever gain, myself included.
  8. Stevie has done some work for me in the past and always been very happy.
  9. As per title, today at lunchtime, stopped at the pedestrian crossing at Tesco. I was heading accross for some lunch.
  10. I recently asked my insuarnace company what effect not renewing my tracker subscription would have. It made the policy £50 cheaper.
  11. From memory, a standard blue classic wagon.
  12. I have to sit in the office listening them digging up Cathcart Square for the next new months!
  13. As members we used to get a 15% discount with the AA for breakdown cover. Tried to make a couple of changes to me cover and asked her to carry over the discount only to be told that this is no longer available. The attitude of AA customer service was so bad that I ended up cancelling there and then and went with the RAC. The AA discount is still listed in members benefits, anyone know what the deal is? Dissapointing in the week I rejoined as a Member!
  14. Aye, that will be Richard Robb. Has an office on Albert Road.
  15. If the gb270 wagon has a private plate and was very dirty then it is a local Gourock architect I know through work who has it. He used to have a blue classic wagon.
  16. Chameleon wheels look good when done but the lacquer failed on all 4 of mine within the year. They didn't want to know and told me it was my fault as I must have been using abrasive cleaning products. I was only using soap and water. I know of others who had the same issue. My advise is to go elsewhere.
  17. Not showing as a member yet, but just rejoined the fold.
  18. I wouldn't say it is a sign of the times. Housebuilders were bodging things long before the current economic situation. I bought a new build in October 09, having said I would never buy a new build, never mid one off plan. Different situation as it wasn't one of the volume housebuilders and I have the director's mobile number! He was round last week after we told him in no uncertain terms what we thought of his company’s attitude towards snagging. The worst we had was an incorrectly fitted mains gas supply! Also took 10 months to get a bog that flushed properly in the main bathroom. The site foreman actually stood in the bathroom and, with a straight face, came out with "that there Mr McColl is a designer toilet, that is why it doesn't flush properly". Every new house will have snagging, but there is a fine line between general snagging and a bodged job. I can only reiterate the advice given. Ensure everything goes to the builder in writing. I use Email with read receipts rather than post. Take minutes for any meetings you have one site. Then send them to the builder with the express requirement that if they disagree with anything they contact you. Also take photographs of all issues where possible. Within the first 24 months, you can go to NHBC or equivalent and they will adjudicate. They will probably require that all lines of communication with the builder have been lost. Alternatively, speak to your lawyer. Building Standards will only ensure that the requirements of the Buildings Regs are met when signing off a completion certificate. They won't check the actual quality of the finishing and fittings. They guy I get to do my general servicing works bought a new build from Wimpey in Port Glasgow about 3 years ago. He has had a lot of problems with them. The latest being that after less than 3 years the boiler has cried enough and packed in completely. New boiler required. Just got to stick at them and hope you get it sorted.
  19. Very sad news. Condolences to the families involved.
  20. Spotted you heading that way this morning.
  21. Just go my renewal in. £453 with Admiral (£250 excess) for my 2002 WRX, not many mods, but all declared. 31, with 9 years NCB and car is garaged at night. Me and 2 named drivers. Commuting only for me. Strange thing is, the best I can get shopping around for a new policy is £750, and that was going with Admiral as a new customer Multi car works out more expensive for me (other car is a 2004 1.6 Corolla, with Bell, part of the Admiral group).
  22. See them out on th A80 at Muirhead quite often at night (beyond midnight sometimes) where it goes from 50 to 30.
  23. Yup, motorways and trunk roads are Transport Scotland's responsibility so any claims would have to go to Transport Scotland/Scottish Government. No idea what the deal would be for a road built under a DBFO contract, eg M77 extension, though. Remember, they won't pay out if they didn't know about the hole, so report every one you see!
