  1. What size of tyres are you looking for? I'd be wary of budget brands. Had Federals on it when I bought it. Awful. Been running Avons on it for the last three years. Really good to begin with but as the wear went on, they killed the handling of the car. Just picked up some Goodyear Eagle F1s and they have transformed the car. And at £80 a pop from Camskill, you canny whack it (17 inch). I run all sorts of bargain basement tyres on my daily runner (Corolla). From Barums to Regals and Tigars. Most are a bit ropey at best but, the Star Performers I currently have on are the worst tyre I have ever used by a long long way. Enduro I think are at the bargain basement level and I'd avoid. Got a mate who runs Kumhos on his GT4 and seems to like them.
  2. My Impreza is sitting on the drive as clear as day on Google Streetview. Was taken in March last year. However, I don't live there anymore!
  3. Looks really good. Well done Personally, I think taking the height down to no higher than the wing mirror would give you something spot on.
  4. Welcome Stunning motor you got there.
  5. I have that problem with mine at the moment. But the power steering squeals like hell on full lock and on cold days. Fluid fine so hoping it is just the belt needing adjusting or something. Could do without having to replace the pump. But the way my luck is, it will probably be the pump!
  6. I will give you a shout in the spring and get a price for a few bits and bobs
  7. That does look like a rotary rather than a random orbital so like StrikE says, you will need extreme caution so as not to burn the paint clean off the panels. Does seem a very cheap package so no idea what kind of pads etc it is coming with. I bought myself a Megs G220 a couple of years back from Polished Bliss. I was a complete novice but decided to use the Pug 106 runaround I had at the time for practice. The results were amazing. Only when I was happy and got the feel of the machine did I tackle the Subaru. Best heading over to DW or drop an Email to someone like Polished Bliss for advice on pads and compounds etc. PBs website has a good step by step guide too.
  8. I used to be with Sky in the old house and the broadband was part of a package with the TV and phone line. When I moved house (out into the sticks), Sky didn't want to know. Something about the exchange being too old. Ended up paying BT an exorbitant £15 a month. Not sure how far I am from the exchange but it is very slow and almost unusable at 6pm. Last time I did a line speed test, it was 1.8mb.
  9. A blast from the past! From the days when my only problem was a seized handbrake!
  10. I really can't believe that for what, 4000 magazine per year? The maganizes must also bring in an element of funding given the adverts in them. But if it is true does it really make sense to use all the membership fees and more to produce a club magazine?
  11. Looks like the thing had been going to the wrong address. All sorted and it has been sent off to the new insurer this afternoon so should arrive before their 15th Feb deadline. My thanks to Gary for sorting it out.
  12. I am not currently a member as my membership expired last month. I haven't renewed largely due to an oversight to begin with and the fact I have been a bit fed up with the car, and to be honest it was within a whisker of being sold. People should want to pay their membership to support and promote the club they are part of. In return they should benefit from various promotions and discounts. I don't feel I benefit much from membership as I don't go to Track days, use main dealers and the insurance scheme was not competitive. That is just how it is however, some will benefit more than others. I do however want to support the club and I will renew for that reason. I would even become a Scottish Scoobies Supporter if the additional money paid ever made it back north of the border. It would be sad if we ended up in the situation where people don't renew as they don't think the club is worth supporting. I think a lot of us know there is a lot going on in the background with the Scottish RO's who are all very enthusiastic and want to take the club forward in Scotland, and we will all find out what has been going on in the fullness of time.
  13. Cheers Gary. Have edited the first post a bit as was written in heat of the moment and a bit unfair. I know you don't deal with this paperwork direct hence my follow up calls with your admin section. Thanks again.
  14. No, there is nothing in the paperwork, you have to ask if you want them to send you your proof of your NCB. Gary has confirmed over on Scoobynet that that is the case and they won't issue it unless you ask. However, I have now been in contact with Gary on Scoobynet and I think he will get it sorted for me. Also spoke to a very nice man in Mumbai from my new insurer and they are going to chase up KMs direct. My renewal this year came in only a day or so before it was up. Maybe I suffer from renewing just after Christmas. My first post written in the heat of the moment ws perhaps a bit unfair. I will still give them a go in the future and they may offer me a price I can't say no to. This year however their best price was £670 with a £350 excess. For a like for like policy, Admiral were £480 with a £250 excess. For a pretty much standard car that probably isn't worth a huge amount these days, it was a no brainer.
  15. Never thought of that. Don't really frequent Scoobynet much. Have posted there now.
  16. Been with Keith Michaels for the last couple of years which as many people may know can be a bit frustrating when it comes to trying to get hold of Gary. Renewals also only came out with 2 days notice. Switched to another insurer last month as they were almost £200 cheaper than KM with a lower excess for a like for like policy. Needed proof of my NCB to send on to the new insurer so Gary said he would send that out. That was a month ago and despite repeated phone calls, no proof has been sent. My new insurers are now threatening to cancel my policy as I have not complied with their terms and conditions re providing proof of my NCB.
  17. No idea, just caught sight of you coming out the car park. By the time you turned out, I was along towards the Bullring and off. Wasn't hanging about as was gone 7pm and still only 200 yards from the office!
  18. Whats went right? To be honest, I am just fed up with the car. One thing after another. Got the wheels done and after about 6 months I noticed some of the lacquer was starting to bubble. Left it and it got worse. Lacquer went cloudy and now most of it has come off. Was told I wasn't looking after them properly and had used to harsh cleaning products. I used Meguires Hyperwash and Poorboys wheel sealant, so I don't think so. Ended up kerbing one very hard so just left it in the end, plus moving house took priority. Two years done the line now, and they are worse than before I got it done. Kerbed wheel ended up being the least of my problems however. Got a bit of brake shudder after that, went to Greers, brakes worn out. I supplied new discs they put them on. Told them I had walloped a kerb and asked them to check for damage. Told all was ok. 2k miles later, brake shudder back. Greers diagnosed seized calipers. I supplied Greers with a set of brembos and associated new discs to go on. Shudder came back. Went back to Greers for a set of rear shockers which had gone, asked them to look the brakes again. Didn't bother looking and told me probably my fault for buying cheap discs. Now with Duncan at Hypertech where a bent hub has been diagnosed. This has been causing every set of discs to warp. Been like this since I hit the kerb. Greers might have noticed it had they bothered to clean the hubs before bolting on the new discs on top of all the dirt build up. And as for the 'seized' calipers. Terzo Neil tool them off my hands, found there was nothing wrong with them after all, and I believe Empty Heed now has them on her Classic. How can a bent hub be diagnosed as seized calipers??? Answers on a postcard. To top it all, the thing got keyed at the end of last year. And breathe! Sorry, rant over, feel better for that. Back to the topic in question. When I sort out the wheels in the spring, I will go for a painted finish as I am unconvinced about the longevity of the lacquer on the powdercoating.
  19. One of my collegues uses Auto Image and swears by them. Was going to try them myself but I just haven't got round to looking for a spare set of wheels to borrow yet. They will loan you a set of wheels but unfortunatly they don't have anything that will go over Brembos. My Chameleon powdercoated wheels were completely fecked within 6 months.
  20. Spotted you tonight coming out of Tesco, about 7pm ish. You headed along towards the Bullring behind me. I was in my daily runner, a silver Corolla.
  21. Just changed mine to Admiral, moving away from Keith Michaels. KM wanted £620 to renew with a £350 excess. With Admiral, I am now only £480 with a £250 excess.
  22. I have always had something similar with my Bugeye. Never got to the bottom of it. Recently changed the rear shockers as they were shot, and it still does it. I have always put it down to the jack. Must take it out sometimes and see if it cures it.
  23. Truly shocking! Why would someone want to do something like that? Feel for you mate. Got my door keyed not so long ago, but that is nothing compared to what you got. Hope you get it back to its best soon!
