I have used Hypertech in the past too. Duncan knows his stuff. Tried GI Motorsport as they were just down the road. Gary really knows his Scoobies.

Expect to pay anything from £400 upward to £600 if you get the tensioners etc done with the belt. I have just had mine done at GI Motorsport in Kilmarnock. Great service from the guys there.

Excellent news, great two folks for the job. I can feel a renewed sense of enthusiasm around this place. If you ever need any help with anything, give me a shout. Does this mean that the RO will be baking cakes for members at each meet?

From a selfish point of view, Hillington is good for me as it just gives me enough time to get in from work to pick up the car and make it for just after 7pm. The further east we go, the more difficult it is. However, given the Glasgow meets at Hillington dried up, I agree it is time to try something different and as long as specific meeting points are clearly advertised (says me who can’t even get the date of the meet right), hopefully, it will bring some renew interest in the evening meets.

Chris, hats off to you. You hve single handedly brought life and activity to this place. Keep up the good work!

Nitro is just a marketing ploy. The stuff is just normal V Power

Is there a plan for a wee convoy from the central belt?

Nice looking car I have a TSL Group N on my WRX and it doesn't look the same as mine. -

Not long to go now until my first Fling. Car in today for a full service, timing belt and now even has working brakes courtesy of GI Motorsport in Kilmarnock (and a wee SIDC discount too ). All ready to go now.

Lived in Inverness for 3 years and seemed to spend half my life on the A9! Worked in Beechwood Business Park next door to Friday's Premier Inn. I would allow a good 3 hours from the Forth Bridge to Inverness on a Saturday, if not more. Like Dave says, 50mph for much of the way and only about a quarter of the road is dualled north of Perth. Be ready to curse caravans and Tesco lorries. Probably another 1.5 hours on to Ullapool. Most pensioners out for a day trip turn off at Bruar and A9 should be a bit better after that. Oh, and watch out for the kamikaze overtaking on the A9, and Northern Constabulary's (or what ever they are called now) camera vans! Welcome to Scotland

Good stuff. Not been on here for a wee while but the car will be back on the road in April. Lets hope we can get the area/Scottish section thriving again. Let me know if you ever need any help wth anything.

Previously the Glasgow meets were so established on the first Thurs of each month that you didn't even need to be on here to know it would be on. Unfortunatly the numbers died away and the meets dried up. So time to try something else. Any week night is good for me. I know weekend meets were tried, but not so good for me. Roads are quieter in the evenings for some decent runs too.

An absolutely excellent programme, best hours viewing in a while. The accident report section was very much needed to give the balance between his genius in a rally car and ultimatly what happened is the helicopter. Well done to the BBC for the way the handled it and for not just skirting round the issue. Made for uncomfortable listening but it is a reality for every McRae fan. Hoy was clearly a true fan and presented very well. He was no a bad driver either. If I am being critical, mocking up a L555 BAT look a like was unneccesary as they could have just used a similar Impreza and made no secret of it. Also, some small errors in the footage like showing Chartiot in the 1991 Manx.

Reading in a few places today that the BBC basically 'bottled it' and have scrapped the programme fearing a backlash over it, given McRae was found at fault for the helicopter crash that killed him and his passengers. They may re-edit into a different format and show it at a later date but sources suggest it will never see the light of day. BBC website still says third programme at a later date.

Not been on yet. Taken from another forum: "Colin McRae programme has just been delayed (and replaced by the Jackie Stewart profile). Reason is that there are contractural problems with other parties involved in the make-up of the programme. No date has yet been decided"

So any tips or things I should look out for as a Fling virgin?

Someone wrapped a blue Newage (late Blob or Hawk) round a telegraph pole on Cloch Road in Gourock last week. Just minor injuries which was the main thing but they were charged with careless driving according to the local press.

I am sure the newage is every 5 years or 50k whichever is soonest. I am also due a 10 year/100k service and was planning on changing the cambelt. I did the last one at its 5 year service although I have only done about 25k miles since then. What price did you get quoted? I assume it is not cheap! PM me if you like.

Welcome. Nice to see another bugeye owner! Pics come up a bit small but the front lights look like morettes. Don't think they are available anymore. My car is pretty standard so can't offer advice on how to mod it, but someone will be along soon who can. Where are you from?

Yup, Priviledge and Tesco both insisted on a tracker for my 2002 WRX when I tried them in the past. I had one in the car I bought but now I m with Admiral and my premiums are actually £50 more expensive with a tracker, so I discontinued my subscription.

Thanks Tam. I bought a gold Volkswagen paint in the past which I thought was a good match, but it was a mile off. Will give the Honda one a go.

That has been knocking about for a while. Originally on Gumtree as a private sale and now in that dealer.
