  1. Excellent - got your eyes on another Scooby yet?
  2. Nope. A user who posts under the name "Empty Heid" Has a sport model Her car is a Blobeye wagon - can't remember the year though and it has a few mods done to it too, exhaust and lowered I thnk. So there you go, you're not alone. Oh yeah, welcome!
  3. Nice rims but poorly displayed due to cr4p picture taking. Lets see an arrangement of pics from different angles etc. do the wheels justice
  4. Yeah, he's so thin he only needs the one eye
  5. They're spoiling my fun asking silly questions and stuff - GO AWAY!
  6. Well perhaps not, however... My road warrior is FASTER than an STi and FASTER than a mapped STi - and FASTER than an RB320... so THERE!!!!
  7. I need to read this whole thread again with my spare turbo in front of me! Since I finish at 1 and its a lovely day, I'll print this off and sit on the decking with the print and turbo - yeeee ha!!! LOL!
  8. Once you get your HND, your Degree, Post Grad Diploma and MCDST - you can do it too!
  9. So, thinking back to some problems experienced by other users on this forum stating that they are not hitting peak boost and some of the answers talking about the actuator arm; does this then mean that the w/g is lodged open thus dumping all of the pressure (or prevents pressure build-up), which in turn stops the impeller from spinning? Also, the execessive pressure that goes out the wastegate, were does it go?
  10. Two quick questions: What are the benefits and dangers of doing such a thing? Is it hard to do?
  11. Well, yeah but I am learning about turbos and wastegates on the other thread!
  12. Great answer! I wasn't thinking about doing any of this Alan, just wanted to know
  13. Aye. sitting in class now while the students are working away!
  14. I see - but the other parts of the question... do bigger turbos come without the internal gate meaning that only the external gate can be used? AND... How does the "certain pressure" open the gate, via the ECU or just physical force?
  15. How does this work? Does the ECU detect the "certain pressure" thus opening the wastegate or is it purely mechanical, in that the "certain pressure" literally forces the w/g to open? To run with an external w/g I take it that the turbo would not have an internal one based on it's larger size, thus the requirement for an external one. If that is correct, would it then be right to say that smaller turbos with internal w/g, cannot then make use of an external set up or conversion?
  16. The ECU will store the fault codes... either get some one with one of those monitor thingys to read the code or take it to a stealer to have it done.More info might help like: How long is the car running before it comes on, does it come on at idle? In what way is the car being driven e.g. regular pace or bootin' it? What is the model year of your car? And anything else you can think of.
  17. Wow... A proper "man's car" Awesome
  18. Just some harmless banter, anything to pass a boring night or day away. Plus, when you get to see other people's points of view, you learn more about the marque, thus broadening ones knowledge, so there!
  19. Howzit coming along Jim - nearly done?
  20. What does twin scroll mean?
  21. Disgree with the rambling, that hurt, I thought the point was well made More reliable? Dunno, again I have no experience of anything other than my MY06 and I have broke a piston and ragged the gear box, so possibly not! LOL
  22. You know too much... do you ever get out!? Don't suppose you could post an annotated pic of a turbo showing the wastegate?
  23. Yeah, that's true. But that could be down to other factors like the other manufacturers producing better cars than the ones they had before. There is also the issue of drivers; are the Subaru drivers really up to the job when compared to the other drivers? I mean, I don't know that's why I'm asking. I think its silly to say a Classic has won the WRC and a Newage hasn't so the Classic is better. That's like saying the Celtic team that won the European cup are a better team than the current crop of players. Relatively speaking they are, but its a comparison that can only be trully made if we can take the current team back in time to face the Lisbon Lions. Similarly, we would need to take the current Newage back in time and race it against the Classic car and the others. That is the only way to really compare these cars in this way, and as you can see, that's not possible, so the comparison about what is best, cannot be definitively made. Therefore, the discussion about whose best is nothing more than opinion! So there! Oh no! I did that long-winded thing again.
  24. Yeah, that's what I was thinking, new my a55! Sounds likea sweet car, as said, pics please! And you do try to come along to our meets in Glasgow, the summer runouts are a hoot. And WELCOME!
