  1. What do you mean? Like NOT using it on the track or using it a certain way? Please enlighten me!
  2. 340 Bhp and 400 ft/lbs Torque. Do you think if I am a little more gentle with it, it will last?
  3. Yeah. I was a bit gobsmacked myself when I started to realise how much all this would cost. The 2k IS a 2nd hand one
  4. Cheers mate. I was actually already offerred an MY05 STi box with the bits at 2k.
  5. If I had known that the gearbox was as good as a chocolate fireguard with the power-upgrades, I probably wouldn't have done it. I've spent a fortune on the car since I bought it new 2 years ago (enough to buy another brand new car) including forking out over 2 grand for an engine re-build. I don't have a bottomless pit filled with lots of cash, so at this point I have reached a dead-end. If I track it I break it (most likely) so I'll never really get to realise the full-potential of the car... so what's the point? I suppose my only option is to hold onto it for another couple of years until I can hopefully afford the cash required to bring it up to the standards required for track use and that wont be the slightest bit frustrating, ha! Either that or sell it and get 50p for it. Ach well at least I still have what I have, and I'm sure there are plenty of people who'd love to have my "problem".
  6. Dunno mate. Wouldn't be surprised if he did.
  7. Well, his son drives successfully in Formula Ford and he is the lead mechanic. His business funds his son's exploits in the formula. So it's no wonder he's good!
  8. LOL Cheers mate! Will get around to it eventually
  9. Ach well, at this rate I'm priced out of an upgrade for the immediate future and possibly period. It's looking like I will just have to not stress the standard box - pants!
  10. Oh right, I thought it was Baboon Nice one Peter, you are clearly well pleased to have your car back. Let's hope it holds out for a long time to come!
  11. There was a thread on this about a week ago. Click here to read it. The three companies discussed are: Kenny Brown - Hillington Estate Glasgow - £100+ Hypertech - Bonnybridge (Near Falkirk) - £55 (ish) ProGrip - Bonnybridge - £???
  12. Yeah, I agree with that, it does look braw on the Hawkeye and for £118 it might be worth another dip into front-splitter joy. I wonder if it will fit the same holes as the previous one
  13. Well, its certainly handy if you know your way around the engine. Good luck with it and keep us posted
  14. Thanks guys! I wonder how much a new STi 6-speeder would be.
  15. Yeah, you're right Andy. I do neglect them becasue I couldn't shift the dirt with a sponge, I never thought if the Brillo pad idea, will defo do that next time. I actually got some clay to do the outside of the flaps, casue you can still see the outline of the Pirelli stickers that were on there. Might just Brollo those too. Cheers for the suggestion I also have a few little dings here and there, I think I will address those instead of getting decals, well full-on decals I have some modest ones planned. The lassie is my neice on my wife's side, she was up at KH with me one time. She is often mistaken for my wife... I'm cool with that
  16. Ah, that was a great quote. Well remembered! Haha!
  17. Nutter! I think you have one of those obsessive disorders! But looks fantastic!!!
  18. Oh... Me too, me TOO!
  19. Thanks Alan. I wouldn't be too fussed about noise, its all about cost really. So how would I go about sourcing a 6-speed forrester box and at what cost, any idea? It's encouraging to hear how much abuse the GB took. What did you mean "flavours"?
  20. Hi Guys I need to be thinking about getting an uprated gear box of sorts. While this is not likely to be in the very near future, I'd still like some advice about what I need. Basically I have two options: 1) PPG kit for my existing box; 2) Replacement STi 6-speed box. I don't know that there are any other options, but if there are, please tell me. The PPG is just out of my league financially speaking and I think it might be a little bit over-kill for the my intents and purpose (daily runner with a few track days per year). So, it looks like it will have to be a replacement STi box. My car is a MY06 WRX, so what do I NEED to change in order to make the box fit as I am pretty sure it isn't a straight bolt on job. Also, can I use a box from 2.0 cars or do I need a box from a 2.5. And lastly, much is this going to cost 2nd hand and new? Thanks for any help and advice offered. John
  21. How often should I do the following things: Claybar Polish Wax The car was clay barred and machine polished when the stickers came off about months ago and the paint is still pretty much free of road-tar and felt pretty smooth even before I polished it. Although I machine polished it I removed the polish by hand, hard work man!
