About flat-planedCrank

  1. Hi all, Not been around in a while, hope everyone is well Love the stylised processing Always going to be tough with a wall that close, even with a 'fast' lens. But try using the widest aperture your lens has and have a bit more depth to the background. Then focus as close as you can with longest lens you have, that'll all reduce the dof. Its that or use some cunning lighting to illuminate the car while not effecting the wall... Cheers

  10. I'm with 4hero on this, i'd go for an ultra-wide-angle lens over a fisheye.. Canon 10-22mm - (photozone.de review) - £648.99 on warehouseexpress.com A Cheaper option.. Sigma 10-20mm - (photozone.de review) - £399.89 on warehouseexpress.com Another interesting option, probably what i'd go for actually, it reviews really well... Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 - (photozone.de review) - £489.99 on warehouseexpress.com Cheers.
  11. Congrats Just to echo the comments about 'Understanding Exposure' by Bryan Peterson, has a good reputation Cheers.
  12. 'fraid all the camera gear has gone up in price recently Check the price-history graph for the 70-200f4 L - http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/prod32.html Cheers.
  13. hi there, Couple of thoughts Are you just wanting a camera for general use, or are you going to want to use it for lots of motorsports shooting ? (sorry if I'm going into stuff you already know) Olympus uses its own lens system (or 'mount') referred to as the 'Four Thirds' system. This system uses a small sensor than other camera manufacturers, and so gives four-third cameras some advantages / disadvantages (depending on how you see them). The main one (for me at least) is the increase of depth of field - this means, in general, a four-thirds camera will have more of the scene in focus. This is useful in some circumstances, but a disadvantageous in others where you want to 'separate' the subject you are shooting from its background (eg. portrait photography, some motorsports photography, etc..) Whether this is an issue or not depends on your camera usage, something to be aware of though The Nikon D60 is a nice camera, but for me, this level of nikon camera bodys are missing some features (you mileage may vary, etc ) Mainly, the D60 (and D40 / D40x) range do not have a focusing motor included in the camera body. This means that some nikon lenses (such as some of the cheaper 'prime' lenses) will not autofocus on the D60. There is a nice description of this in the dpreview page. Also the d60 doesn't have, bracketing, dof preview, and mirror lock-up if you want to shoot landscapes / night-time long exposures. (I'm not just having a go at Nikon cos I have Canon gear - I really like D90, D300, D700, D3, etc.. ) For the money, i'd probably look at the Canon 450D + 18-55mm IS bundle ( on the camera price buster site - about £480 at the mo) (or the 450D + 18-55mm IS + 55-250mm bundle (for £719) ) There was a '450D vs. D60' thread on pistonheads recently - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=679402 Either way, I'd go to a local camera store and have a look at the cameras themselves, you may find you simply prefer the way one manufacturer does things Hope this helps. Cheers.
