Hawkeye photoshoot photos - 56k users, got a spare hour?
thewelsho replied to 4Hero's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Good idea, you can get one of those cameras on a wooden stand where you put a big blanket over your head and fire the massive flash like an explosion is going off in your hand! LOL couldn't resist. Nice pics Neil. -
Yes. Got most if it off mate, just some tiny speckles left, the turps did the trick! Need to put all that wax and polish on again. That will be 5 days in a row my car has either been waxed, washed, polised, clay barred. And on some days, all of the above.
-
Here is a thought. The theory only just came to me, so I thought I'd throw it out there to see it its possible and practical. Have an LPG conversion done to your Scoob, and then have the car mapped in the way that St3ph3n (and others for sure) has: one map for regular use which would use the LPG; one map for performance use which would use petrol. So then, under normal conditions the converted car can save a fortune in fuel, and, should power be required for track or fast road use, its there at the "flick of a swtich". Is this possible, or should I just wait on the people with white coats?

Ha! Nice one. -
Unbelievable! Is there no limits to some people's cheek. Sorry to hear that mate, will keep an eye and ear open... oh and welcome!
-
Thanks man! I'll give it a try.

i think he was planning on putting the pram in the boot not towing it stephen [] LOL! That was very quick witted! Never seen that coming. That's my chuckle for the day.

I have a similiar setup. I don't have the proper PFF7's though, just copies but I do have 18s 40 and 225s lowered on Teins. I do get a tiny bit of rubbing at 20+ mph with full lock, so I'd reckon you might get some rubbing with 235s.

I'm having a major struggle trying to get this Cuprinol cr@p off of my paint work! Whole car is covered in it!!!!! ARGH! NEVER use those poxy spray guns that fat bloke in the ads uses. The slightest bit of a breeze and the whole neighbourhood will be covered in it. Anyway, I have tried clay bar, T-cut, paint cleaner and washing up liquid, yes, one after another (I can see ScoobyIain whince in agony)! At this rate I am not going to have any paint left on the car! I have shifted a lot of it, but still much of it is there. The parts that I have managed to shift, I gave a final polish and will wash the car again tonigh then apply the the "Step 3" Meguirs wax, but I think I am going to have to live with the tiny speckled pattern. ARGH! Suggestions for cleaning most welcome.

Thank you, gracias, danke!

I bought some Meguiars car cleaning products: Step 1 Paint Cleaner; Step 2 Polish; Step 3 Carnuaba (sp?)Wax. After 4 hours of rubbing and polishing, the car looks really good. I only used the step 1 stuff on the bonnet though, as I was getting knackered, still the results were good. Trouble is, it took my 4 hours and I was well wrecked by the end of it. Is there any point in doing this as the car is only going to be manky again in 3 days! So, how often should the car be given this extensive kind of treatment, cause I there is no way I am going to invest that kind of effort and time too often!? On saying that, I have to do all that again cause the whole car got covered in freaking Cuprinol - don't ask!!!!
-
Looks ok without it, but to be honest I think it looks better with it as it gives the car presence and attitude. Besides, filling in holes and respraying; is it really worth the hassle? Nice car too.

Granted, the Subarus do lack finese and build quality, but the car costs a measly 21k for a brand new WRX. With that comes AWD, 230BHP, turbo-charged madness, and with the scope for modding. Granted we can mod other cars too, but they are not so much in "need" of it. These options can be found in other cars with the build quality as well, but add near enough another 10 grand onto the price for the next step up. Can't have it all for that price. My mate has an ST. He loves it, I tried it once and loved it too, but that was off the back off owning a NA Celica 1.8; anything is going to feel fab next to that. It has more toys than a Scooby, e.g. boost gauges as standard and traction control (it NEEDS it!) but at the end of the day its a Ford. I'll stick with Scoobies for a while yet.

A really nice Classic. Looks great and much better without the graphics. I do, however, like the Lexus lights.

That can't be Stephen's car, it's shiny! -
lol get yer cheque book oot man!! [] Already spent about 5 grand on it after splashing out 22k for it new in a year! I'm not one of the cash-rich oil workers on here, like you! I need new brakes (full kit), ARBs, and at least a re-map; about another 2k and that is not buying the top-notch stuff like the cash-rich oil workers who are members of the AP racing Brake Club [] Plus, I just moved into a new house which is sucking money out of me; life is really tough as an Impreza owner []

No... louder! Was that the new missus who accompanied you on Saturday Stevo? Thanks for the introduction! Anyhoo, I'm booked for July, track-tart indeed! I need more power though, getting fed up having to move over for cars who are up my a55 in the corners but then can't pass in the straights until I slow all the way down spoiling my lap!
-
Why thank you! No spins this time, but ran very wide at one point coming out of the 2nd corner just before going down the hill to the bend before the chicane. I had all 4 wheels on the kerbs and that platistic stuff. It was a bit hairy. Can't wait till next time I LOVE IT! I did 9 runs which was about 50 laps worth, got home on an empty tank, ha! sounds like good fun J.W.,i'll get those pax laps next time mate,[]ended up working on Sat. No worries mate, I'll be there.
-
Oops sorry mate, never seen you. Next time though. I'm just about to book my place on the grid for July. [] Edit: BOOKED

Never saw you, was going to take you out for a few laps. I loved it on Saturday, was fantastic! It was a first-run for a few of my recent mods; Anti-lift kit was fantastic, turbo timer was handy, the DS2500 front and rear pads felt nice, braided hoses I suppose were doing something and the front splitter looked good and I avoided smashing it! Can't wait till the next one!

Great pics everyone, looking forward to seeing the others. I have no Internet at home at all so I had to wait all weekend to get to work to see and read posts! Hurry up BT!!!!! I took my camera with me and forgot a memory card, A55! I didn't realise just how big of an a55 I was until I got home and spotted a mem card in the cup holder in the centre console ARGH! -
On Track?

I tried that with my mrs once and she slapped me for even thinking about it!!! [:$][:$][:$]
