  1. Would be interested to hear opinions on this one

I am an electronic and electrical engineer and with the resistor in the circuit (replacing the airbag) there should be no reason for the airbag system to be disabled...............so I would be interested to hear of any horror stories.

But the sensor is in the seat. So if there is a collision, how will the airbags know to delpoy? I replaced my seats and the light is still on. I thought it would have bothered me, but it doesn't.

  2. Well after having the car for 10 days they have eventually found out what has happened. After telling me last week the Cat was fine it now turns out its not, there is a blockage and due to the heat build up or maybe debris the turbo has also gone awol and cracked!

How can you not see that! Well at least you have got to the bottom of your troubles and the end is in sight.

  3. I believe the map in the 08 sti is dodgy causes det at high RPM's and melts cylinder 4 piston. The reason it melts so easy is because its cast and not forged like the hawkeye pistons

Are you sure Hawkeye pistons are forged? The WRX ones certainly aren't, and Im pretty sure I read somewhere that the STi derivative uses the same pistons.

  4. Induction kit will be the reason I would think. Air/ fuel mixture ? More air now less fuel.

Am sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong tho

Woulda been my guess, but like Kenny Bhoy, I'm not mechanically minded either :)

  5. I mentioned to one of the salesmen today that there were rumours that the 2.5 had chocolate pistons but he denied any knowledge of it...as you would!

Oh! But they ARE chocolate! I have one with a big chunk out of the ring-land (as Gav says). :) I can't see how a damaged piston would prevent boost though. My car hit boost with the damaged piston, but when it got there, the ECU retarded the timing as it did at high revs in every gear. Actaully, the car was worse in low revs in low gears.

  6. Every little helps .... :)

Yeah I know, but I thought it was being suggested by the comments above, that the full decat gives 70bhp gain over the sports cat. The main reason people choose the decat over the sports cat, is not for the extra 10bhp, but for the reduced cost (cat free saves £££££).

  7. Cal, you can get it done up to a month early and have them extend the new one as long as you take the old certificate wih you.

A decat it IMHO the best power/cost mod you can do and will give you the best results for any future mods as well. It can be a PITA but no pain no gain etc.

Hmmm, I thought the difference in BHP gains between the sports can and the full decat, was minimal, around 10 BHP.

  8. You get on okay at London road John? I've had 2 crap tanks out of there last year and haven't been back. I think the owner lives just round from me.

Yeah, I remember you saying that before. It's been fine for me but I think I might start going to Govanhill again. Trouble with Govanhill is that the forecourt is slanty, so I can't fill the tank to the max. So when I see that I'm getting 15 miles less to the tank, I start to get in a panic! LOL!

  9. LOL, funnily enough i am on a Shell permit issuing day today in London and have a meeting with Shell Europe on Thursday.

You wish me to raise your concerns Mr Welsho?

PS Stonelaw Towers in Burnside being refurbed soon to release V-Power again once the new tanks are in!!!

Good news about Stonelaw. Save going to London Rd.

  10. I think I've probably mentioned before JW , but I've a wee house 5mins walk/stagger from the Kames Hotel ;)

I don't recal Al! Thought I think I remember seeing yon me flowerly bush as I strolled along there one sunny day :driving: Nice bikes!

A handsome Irn Bru-themed Scooby in front of some picturesque caledonian scenery....... 'Visit Scotland' could learn a lot from you, John :)

Not heard from you much of late, what's been happening?

Thanks Mate  I've been out and about playing golf (still totally suck at it), and generally out and about on my holidays (only this week to go and its back to the grind) and got out of the habit of checking the site. I am glad to say I have re-engaged!

  11. Was meeting up at the main Shell station just of the A80 to drop soemthing off. I didn't realise that it was closed for repairs and by the time I got there, my fuel light was on. So, I phoned a friend and got a post code for a nearby station in Cumbernauld and made my way there with the aid of Sat Nav. Arrived to fill up my thirsty car to see that they were charging £1.14 per litre!!!!!! Needless to say it was as splash and dash! Rip-off rats! Filled up at London Road.

  12. That's just exactly where I grew up in that photo! I know who owns most of those boats, and my old man has a shed about 10 yards behind your car there!!

No way you could've passed through there with a car like that without anyone noticing, so I'll probably be hearing all about you being spotted when I get home this week!

Nice one mate, can't deny it's a nice part of the country eh!! Hope you didn't meet too many of the locals though!!! :driving:

I was up and down there a few times and the car was parked right outside the hotel. I was surprised at the lack of interest in it! Ha! You can let me know if anyone spotted it ;)

  13. that scenery is phenomenal :driving:

    kenny

    Kenny: Sure Is!

Sparky: I was up staying in Kames Hotel for a short break with the wife. There were little to no high-speed thrills for me as the wife just screams in terror  Took the route through Kames all the way along that single track costal route on the way home.
