  1. Can anyone tell me if there are any issue with fitting an APS CAI on a hawkyeye STI? Do they rattle due to tighter space in inner wing? Also what else do i need to fit the CAI? Do i need to replace the plastic tube it fits on to etc? If i do what and where do i buy the parts? cheers Chris
  2. nice one mate. Will be good to see you at knockers on track.
  3. edited due to not wanting to be seen as publicly slating a company. I had no joy with the dealer i went to see and will therefore be dealing with another well known garage on here as they seem to be more helpful. Chris
  4. Noticed today that my alloys are starting to flake on the edges and was wondering if this would be covered by the warranty? It is not due to kerbing and one wheel is quite bad. Car is a 56 plate hawkeye STI. cheers Chris
  5. i am now going to be £270 out of pocket due to the scum that tried to steal my car. That was money i had saved for my dwonpipe. Thanks to the guys at S&S for the help with this. I stopped off at Halfrauds and bought myself the stoplock thing for the steering wheel so will now have my car looking like fort knox. Chris
  6. whewre did you get the alarm from Paul? Was it expensive. To be honest the voice would probably annoy me but a buzzer or something like you have would be ideal for a noise.
  7. am defo looking on to alternative security for the car. When at the falkirk wheel meet one of the cars had a nifty alarm system that spoke when someone was near the car. Does anyone know anything about these systems? Are they good? Are they expensive? Or was it someone just pressing a button nearby?
  8. car is parked outside my window but am not at my desk that often. as for these yellow lock things i am not convinced they do anything as am sure i have seen programmes on tv where thieves can take them off in seconds but am willing to be proved wrong on this. Car is trackered etc but still would be gutting if it actually got stolen. We had a bmw 5 series stolen yesterday from work. The thieves got in somehow and stole the keys from one of our sales reps desk then had the balls to talk to somone on the stairs out then steal the car. Car was also stolen in the same way from unit acorss the road from our office.
  9. Came out of work this afternoon to find that someone has tried to steal my car. The lock on the drivers door has been smashed in. Am confident it has happened outside work (kyle street Glasgow) as only reason i noticed someone had tried to break in was that when i tried to unlock the car with the remote key fob it unlocked then locked again. Thinking it was the battery that was running out i tried the door lock and found out it had been smashed. Car unlocked and locked ok when i got in it in the morning. One of our comapny cars had been stolen yesterday and the factory unit across the road also had a car stolen. Chris
  10. going for meercat sportcat wrapped. just waiting on a price for it.
  11. just going to take the chance and get it fitted. going by what richie has said it is safe to do so. then will be saving for the remap and the fitting of plugs, cai and maybe some other choice mods next year. how is your car these days John?
  12. thanks for the info richie. did you get that knocking noise sorted? John, I have some cash just now so thought i would finish off the exhaust section.
  13. well i will wait and see what price you get me first i suppose.
  14. thansk for the info. i amy just go ahead and get this the now.
  15. ok here is hoping that richie cross will see this. I have opted for a meercat sportcat and was wondering if anyone has fitted one without getting mapped straight away???????? Was thinking about fitting it this year and getting remap next year. I know i wont get the full benefits until the map but i will get some benefits but is it safe and adviseable to run without getting mapped????? cheers chris
  16. just saw the car in the flesh tonight and it looks and sounds amazing.
  17. but how does the standard downpipe compare to a sportcat is there really that much advantage?
  18. can anyone tell me is there much difference between a car mapped with the standard downpipe, cat delete pipe, striaght centre section and drager style back box compared to a car mapped with sportcat downpipe and the other bits i have mentioned? Just looking at my options. Do i really need a sportcat or does the standard downpipe give similar figures. is use my car everyday for work etc and do about 16000 miles a year. The sportcat is a lot of money and am just trying to decide if it is worth getting. cheers chris
  19. well you might have guessed it the other side on my car now as knocking struts. I just don't see why they couldn't have changed all 4 the first time round. I suppose i am lucky as it is still under warranty and the replaced ones are still ok. Car is booked in to S&S next week.
  20. is this a wide mouth type gus and what type of metal is it made of? Cheers Chris
  21. ok i am saving up for my remap next year and am looking into downpipe options. I have a 56 plate impreza STI and am looking for advice re sportcat options. I know meercat do them but was wondering if anywhere else did them? I don't want to go down the decat route as the car is my everyday driver and knowing my luck i would get pulled by the fuzz for a roadside check. Are prodrive ones any good? Should i sjust stay with the standard downpipe and get it mapped? 'how much more power does sprtcat give you? Cheers Chris upda
  22. some video footage of what jim went through.
