Ovv Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 (edited) Two of the biggest names in automotive performance have come together to work on a special one-off project, and the result promises to be truly staggering. Subaru UK and Cosworth have enhanced the performance, handling and styling of the acclaimed Impreza STI, creating a car that will raise the bar for all-wheel-drive, high-performance motoring. Detailed information about performance, specification and pricing will be made available closer to the vehicle’s March on-sale date. http://imwww.imgroup.co.uk/IMGGB/WWW/Subar...02576C70034D37A Edited February 11, 2010 by Ovv

StewartyBoy Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 ...for those who don't? I'm possibly going to be slated, but everytime I see an Escort Cosworth I still look on in admiration. I loved the way it looked back in the day and still do now. If not more so now for its old skool bonnet vents and ridiculious spoiler.
StrikE Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Oh no! Ma wife could divorce me.......................

Nothing wrong with liking the Escort Cosworth, fantastic looking car, truly lovely
col666 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 mmmmm......I am looking for another car, although with Subaru charging nearly 30k for a normal STI the Cosworth version will be priced in with some pretty stiff competition. Used E90 M3 or a Scoob??
mystery machine Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 (edited) 'STI' and 'Cosworth' on the same tailgate sounds good to me Edited February 11, 2010 by Mystery Machine
frank c Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 So does that mean Prodrive is out the window then if it's full of Cosworth goodies ?
stum450n Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 So does that mean Prodrive is out the window then if it's full of Cosworth goodies ? Judging by the lorry load of new scoobs being dropped off at Prodrive t'other night, I would assume that they're still working together and this is a one-off model. Probably a cost saving thing to be honest, aren't Cosworth Malaysian owned now? Proton I think?!?

Iconic car - never owned one and that's probably why I still feel that way!
G-ManUK Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I remember as a youngster getting a lift in a Sierra Cosworth (the hatch one with the whale tail spoiler) and being amazed then... Be interesting to see what they do with it...
wilky Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Hmmm...........I wonder if they will sell this in the USA??
the squiggle Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 The std STI UK is a poor STI variant in relation to its JDM brother, as has always been the case since the Type UK Bugeye was launched. Fitting cast pistons and building to super tight tolerances may be good for emmisions and cost constraints but for a performance car is poor when it starts destroying bottom ends, nicking piston rings and generally ****ting itself big style. Hopefully Cosworth are being brought in to sort the engine out first of all with some decent pistons and rods then Prodrive spend a decent amount of time getting the map right for our country. Drivetrain and chassis are fine for general public use, apart from a little too much roll when cornering. Styling wise i hope Cosworth go down the Whale tail route again with a psuedo WRC type spoiler. Type RA-R brakes should be std on the new car Prodrive were developing the 380s alongside the 330s but pulled the plug when they could not get a reliable map to perform consistantly on the Type UK fibreglass/chocolate 2.5 engine. With uprated componentry inside i believe a 400hp model is possible if they get the map spot on but with this i also believe that costs will be aligned with this component upgrade and expect the car to be 30k and then some. If Subaru Japan had a milligramme of sense they would ditch International Motors and give the UK market the same level of spec as the Japanese enjoy on all the mainstream models. Even after all the Cosworth shenanigans i would still prefer a Litchfield spec car over anything IM or the subaru dealer network can provide JDM all the way for me

Pity the JDM and Litchfield specimens cost SO much more than the type UK cars
scoobykev Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 As long as it was more reliable than the Sapphire Cosworth i had.
edmondo Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I am so gonna spend more on lottery tickets ..................sounds cracking
dipsy Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 (edited) Litchfield MK2 type 25 is running a Cosworth engine http://www.type-25.co.uk/engine_engine.asp I would go for a litchfield type 25 with one of the new turbo dynamics twin scroll turbo's fitted in a Jdm hatch Edited February 12, 2010 by Dipsy
Big 'D' Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I am sure the Subaru Cosworth will be much better than the old Ford variants Cheers Iain
